  • I have also just restarted the C25K program with my son who is 11, I am hoping he will enjoy it as much as I am. So I am out running around 5 nights a week, loving it.
  • Yes, it depends who I am running with, if it is someone that runs at my pace it is good but if they are faster I just stay at my pace and let them go ahead.
  • My ex doesn't have a picture but her ringtone is the psycho theme tune...
  • 5 days to go, let's hope this amazing weather were having right now holds up...
  • I'm sure this may be the obvious one but are you eating enough. I cycle to work quiet a lot, and when i do cycle, i have to eat loads extra just to get back to my net calorie goal (i burn around 900 calories a day cycling). I also upped my calorie goal as i was barely losing and since i did it i appear to be losing at a…
  • Brilliant...
  • Obviously i don't use it for this purpose
  • Oh you did it, ok i couldnt post the example img tag as it thought i was trying to post an image. Wow, Great pictures :)
  • lol that sounds brilliant, i can imagine it was like a Benny Hill sketch
  • I have a 2010 Specialized Tricross, i commute most days (minimum 17 miles but if its nice ill detour and do 28) and I’ve already signed up for my first charity bike ride of the year, 45 miles around Crewe which is 2 weeks on Sunday, can't wait. I did start to try and encourage cyclists to post their rides, as I’m sure you…
  • Obviously I need to ensure that my net calories get to 1200 every day, but the whole reason i upped them to 1400 is because of all the talk of starvation mode, but if i know i can drop them back down to 1200 and not have to worry about not eating enough then this is good news. I usually burn around 900 a day and most days…
  • It is a great post, and it makes sense, but can i get one thing straight? When i first started using MFP, it suggested a calorie goal of 1200. I stuck to a NET calorie goal of 1200 (i cycle a lot so made sure i always got back up to 1200) and for 2 weeks my weight didn’t budge. I then, after reading all the articles about…
  • Pretty grim here in Blackpool. No snow but heavy winds and some rain. Makes cycling to work less fun :(
  • I work in IT and am sat at a computer all day, and i find myself constantly on the MFP forums. Definitely obsessed. But i think reading about it all the time encourages me to try harder. I don't see it as a bad thing... yet.
  • A few of my friends have Trek hybrids and they are pretty good. They are well made bikes and from what i've heard are pretty good to ride. I only invested so much because i use mine most days - i sold my car because i never used it as i was cycling more and more.
  • Well £300 is about $488, and £600 is about $977, but yes i wouldnt have been able to afford that without the scheme, at least our government does 1 thing right (just about).
  • Well a got them both on the Cycle to work scheme so i saved about 40% off retail, and got to pay them off monthly. Including accessories, my hybrid was just over £300, which is pretty cheap, but it was a low end bike, and my Tricross, which is Specialized, a great brand, was £600. It’s the 2010 model so of course it was…
  • I cycle to work pretty much every day. I have been using a cheap(ish) hybrid for the past 2 years, but have just invested in a Specialized Tricross. It's a mixture of Road bike and mountain bike, ideal for going off road, but more sturdy and a much nicer ride then my hybrid.
  • Maybe you weren't eating enough calories, and now you have stopped tracking you are eating more and bringing on the weight loss. When i first started tracking i didn't lose any for 2 weeks, then i upped my calorie goal and started losing.
  • Creamy, but unfortunately i picked up crunchy by mistake the other day :(
  • You could try doing the C25K plan, it's quiet popular on here. http://www.c25k.com/ There's loads of people doing it, which is great if you need any advice.
  • Ahh yes. I cycle to work and back so i dont really worry about the carbs.
  • Great article. I cycle to work in the morning and then have breakfast when i get here. People were advising me to eat before i set off but i now see that’s not the best advice. I manage the cycle on an empty stomach fine, and on the odd occasion i do eat before i set off, it doesn't seem to make much difference.
  • Oh and sweetcorn, cant forget the sweetcorn.
  • I make pasta with chopped tomatoes, onion, mushroom and other bits and pieces. I bring about 200grams to work, with 50 grams of tuna, and its around 220 calories. If I’m cycling i add cheese to it to bump up the calories a bit. I make over 1 kilo of it and keep it in an airtight container in the fridge, it lasts a while.
  • I use my android phone and the sporty pal app. You can pick up android phones pretty cheap, mine was £99 but i think there are cheaper. Sportypal uses GPS to monitor everything, here's my ride home today. http://sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/946671?key=2f2aad848db89f86b407ee3bea8d53c7c7694272&ms=1 It shows all the stats…
  • From a very quick look at a couple of days of your food diary, I would say, perhaps your not eating enough!? I agree, you seem to be way under your goal most days. I started off like this for the first 2 weeks and didn't lose anything. I then made an effort to eat nearer to my goal and did start to lose.
  • Error accessing the OLE registry Interesting.....
  • Thanks :) Went for a good run home yesterday, detoured from my normal 8 miles to just short of 20 http://sportypal.com/Workouts/Details/942345?key=0de371feb36eb03ca8b324c9949bd0e66dce2707&ms=1 It was a good ride.
  • Yeah one of our directors is mad into cycling so he sorted the scheme out so we don’t go through a 3rd party, our finance department deal with it, so we can get a bike from anywhere and pay by cheque, anything up to £1000 including accessories. My last bike was a hybrid which i had for 18 months and it was rally hard work,…
