  • Agree with the other posters, you shouldn't start any form of exercise until 6 weeks after the birth - but I suppose if you feel up to it you could speak to your midwife/doctor and take their advice. I would suggest that if the weather is ok and you have no medical reason not to, go for a *gentle* walk each day with your…
  • Ok, I've been wanting to ask this for years.... (since I saw Toy Story 2 actually....) ;-) What the heck is a smore????
  • Was there any news? Did he turn up? Hope so xxx
  • I haven't heard the SMARTER thing quoted for a long time - but that's a good idea. I will try to keep that in mind, and you're right that things will fall into place if I stick with what I'm doing. FWIW, I am usually very, very positive, and motivate my own friends quite well. It's rare that you will find me whining, but…
  • Well, that I can agree with then. I know that I won't have good weeks every week, and I also know that because I don't have so much to lose now, for me personally, the weight will start coming off more slowly and that's not really such a bad thing because I also know that's the best way to lose it and keep it off - for me,…
  • Yes, I agree that if it's 'serial' whingers that don't take any notice of the advice offered then they deserve all they get, but to be honest, the OP didn't really make that entirely clear..... to me at least. My frustration yesterday was because, whilst I had lost 3/4 of a lb, and an inch of my waist...... my hip…
  • Wow, you see, I thought this was a 'support' network where people come for 'support' when they're struggling. And being a weightloss tool, I figured it was where people could come and 'whine' when they were struggling with their weight loss to get said support.... gee, guess I was wrong....... I appreciate what you're…
  • LMAO at this thread!!!! Hmm, next time I weigh in I will definitely have to remove my specs.... well, if the extra weight of them doesn't help, the fact I won't be able to read the result might!
  • I just did Day One today! I don't have any weights though so I thought I'd use a couple of tins of baked beans.... they were ok, they gave some resistance, but they didn't seem to be heavy enough..... although, I am feeling it in my arms a bit now if I'm honest, so maybe they were doing more than I realised! Think I'll get…
  • I make a plan of all of the evening meals I'm intending to do for my family for an entire week before I do our weekly shop. This helps in a couple of ways, it means I buy everything I need at the shop, it means I only buy what I need and it makes it easier to stick to eating good, healthy meals because if I know what I'm…
  • I'd probably log it as aerobics high impact for however long it lasts? Assuming you're doing it high impact of course! There might be others that have a much more scientific method to work it out but that's just how I'd do it

  • Hi - I hadn't heard of anything around here like that, although I know our sugery does the referral to Weight Watchers if you are over a certain BMI. I used to do Rosemary Conley and loved it because of the exercise class, and we had a great leader that was very encouraging and didn't have negative comments to make, she…
  • Oh trust me, I could do that easily!
  • Here's how I have got my head around this cos I couldn't see the point of eating them back before. However, now I see it this way..... my diet is what will make me lose weight, my exercise will make me fitter and hopefully tone me up. Once I have lost weight and reached my target, I should continue exercising to keep me…
  • Well, it's around 3 miles a day, I'd say it's good enough - I would rarely do more than that and am managing to lose weight and feel fitter. And I don't exercise every day! :-)
  • It doesn't look so cold today and yet when I've been at the doorway I've been really feeling it. Thank goodness I have a very thick coat (I describe it as wearing my sleeping bag!) so I'll put that on for the school run shortly. I downloaded coach to 5k last night but, call me a wimp if you will, I'm putting off starting…
  • I hate the gym so never go, although I sometimes try swimming but it is expensive and if you have to take the kids then isn't really that good a workout for you. But walking is great and the kids can do that with you (or go in a buggy), run up and down the stairs for three minutes, use tinned food as weights to do toning…
  • Looking good and feeling great, that's the only reward I need.
  • I like M&S and BHS....... have never used Bravissimo but I did look on the website once and they have some nice stuff. I like to go and try them on though and hate having to return mail order clothes so I'd rather go in store somewhere. Even though I know my size, I find that a lot of bras either don't give me enough…
  • I wonder whether this is just because people that drink sweet drinks like this just generally tend to have a sweet tooth and therefore find it harder because they do crave more sweet things. My husband drinks one or two cans of diet cola/lemonade every day and he loses weight more easily than I do so I don't think it's all…

  • Mine's on the 5th. Really sucks cos everyone is all partied out after Christmas and the New Year and no-one has any money even if they wanted to celebrate still. On the upside, we never have any problem getting a table in restaurants - but on the downside, it means there's never any atmosphere either. And then I have…
  • A simple and really cheap one is one of my favourites.... run up and downstairs....... 3 minutes burns something like 53 cals, so if you can do it for as long as you can, you can get a great workout - and you don't need to buy anything - providing you have stairs at home of course!
  • Wow, that's an amazing achievement, well done! :-)
  • LOL - love this thread!
  • Eating a sugary snack might give you an instant 'hit' to make you feel more awake, but it won't last and you'll probably end up feeling even more lethargic and hungry! Why not try something like a banana instead? Sweet(ish) tasting but loads better for you!
  • How about walking up and down stairs? Try walking up and down them 4 or 5 times consecutively and do that a few times a day! Housework! It's amazing how many calories you can burn just doing day to day activities with a bit more gusto than you'd normally use :-) xx
