yes, I do cardio (burpees, jumping jacks, sit ups, squats, etc).

I would recommend a vivofit. I had the fitbit one for a good couple of years; but for me, while it worked very well, it was "passive", it just sat connected to my pocket and recorded everything. the vivofit sits on my wrist where i can see the interface plus it has an indicator which lets you know if you have been inactive…

ah...but to throw the cat amongst the pigeons, is not a slice of pizza officially labeled as a vegetable? that would then mean that this is not fast food but some sort of "health food" ;-)

I started with a simple C25K program.

Try Musclemilk. The flavours are good, it mixes well (doesn't clump) and you can drink it with either water or skimmed milk.

Yes, I have tried a few and ended up in the gym with folded up pieces of paper and pens, etc. It was ok as long as you plan ahead and get all your paperwork printed in advance. But, here is a thought - smartphone/tablet? I have a WP phone (Lumia 900) with excel on it and I have all my training plans ready to go on that.…

If you have a smartphone (iphone/Android/WP) then why not download the 6 Week Fitness app or similar push up training apps? The 6 Week Fitness app (based on this site www.hundredpushups.com) starts you from level 0. I started and began with 5 sets of 1 rep each and if you can't finish, the app makes you redo that…

You are dieting for a cruise? I work on a cruise ship and I can tell you that the majority of passengers put on between 3 - 6kg of weight by the end of the cruise. You are going to be bombarded with food once you climb onboard...so you are going to have to plan ahead for the cruise and decide how you are going to eat and…

Which Method is Best to Find My Training Heart Rate? Comparing Heart Rate Formulas: Age, Karvonen, Leger, MAF and Friel. It seems that there are many ways to determine your training zones from a wide variety of methods. I’m going to explain some of the more popular ways of determining your optimal training zones and give…

Yes, once you get your HRM/watch, you need to configure it, in terms of your correct weight, height (if needed), age, etc. Also remember to adjust to the correct units of measurement - eg kilometers or miles. Then you need to determine your resting heart rate and then your max heart rate. From these two rates you can then…

Have a look at http://www.dcrainmaker.com/ He does some good user reviews on most fitness products and has some more in the pipeline.

I would really advise you do a proper HR test. Either at your gym or with some one who knows how to. My timex run trainer HRM came with a booklet which gave a basic example of how to test for your HR. See if the Polar manual has the same thing. Or you could look here…

Nothing wrong with calluses! It means that I am gripping that bar good and tight.

have you tried burpees? they are pretty good as well.

I log my C25K with RunKeeper and Runtastic. I also have linked my Endomondo account with MFP and log my C25K. They are logged as one complete run. So, total distance run, regardless of the walk/run intervals.

Don't let your weight or height put you off. I keep referring to beginnertriathlon.com because I get a lot of my inspiration from there. There are guys there who are +300lbs and are training and running triathlons and marathons. For the record I am 6'2 and weighed 285lbs when I started with my C25K. I am now in week 4 of…

Just as a matter of interest, this article from BeginnerTriathlon explains a little about HR and assessing your heart rate. http://beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=633 And if you visit http://www.dcrainmaker.com/ and look in his product review and "the queue" links you might find some good…

well...i am 6'2 and when i am out there dying while running, MFP gives me a very snarky "walking, very very brisk pace". So I would advise not to worry too much about what MFP says. That is my biggest criticism about MFP, their exercise section leaves a lot to be desired but their food log section is really good. So i…

The whole thing about running and in particular C25K is the timing of the run, you are not running set distances but running for set amounts of time. If you go to, for example, BeginnerTriathlon.com, and look at their plans or forums, you can find many types of C25K programs. Some are aggressive and others are more gradual…
