I downloaded the Dry Days app and I love it! I’ve been completely off alcohol (except for one special drink that was a toast). I went to a bar for a private party, nursed a seltzer, and didn’t comment to anyone about not drinking— the best approach for me. Is January almost over yet :# ?

Count me in! I was drinking a lot after work every single day, but I’ve now had three days this week where I completely abstained. Keep wondering if I want to not drink on New Years Eve to cement the commitment or have the one last send off...

Awesome challenge! Please count me in! 37/f Current: 143 July Goal: 125 The last poster asked about how this is being tracked. I don’t know how these are usually done, but once I did one were there was a google doc and everyone added their weigh-in weight each week...

I do this, but I'll eat if I'm out with friends, etc. It helps me to avoid making bad food choices. I also love to wake up hungry and really appreciate a wholesome breakfast. Just do what works, beauteous one. :)

I love all of these tips! My advice is to exercise, getting cardio every day just seems to end bad food cravings for me, and buy some healthy food that you're not particularly fond of (say raw radishes or unsalted pistachios) and then when a craving hits say to yourself "well if this was real, true hunger, then I would eat…

I'm getting divorced this week. It sucks. There's probably another 40 days that I'm stuck living with my soon-to-ex-husband and his drone teenage kids. I'm trying to look at it as 40 days to focus on getting healthy, losing weight, and running as much as possible. So i guess my advice to you is similar to what you're…

Yes! I was genuinely amazed that I lost over a pound a week for 3 months. I was one of those people that thought my body had a natural weight point that it gravitated towards. But it had just been me gravitating to the beer and hoagies.

Ha! I've been there, once or twice. Those kind of meals remind me of the gum from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory where each chew represents a course of dinner :)

On behalf of the 30-somethings (and older) who didn't make it until our age, you're starting with a leg up on us! You got this one. Start today.

I found this tip from Jillian Michaels helpful. I used to bike a lot every day but I was still a total pudge. Then I started running and the lbs flew off.

Did you watch the video I posted like 6 pages back? There's a calorimeter in it: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/13/opinion/calorie-detective.html?smid=pl-share

This post reminds me of a 6-minute documentary that examines the actual calories in foods. I always reference this documentary when I am preaching about Subway: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/13/opinion/calorie-detective.html?smid=pl-share

Breakfast: 2 egg whites, 2 turkey bacons, 4 oz. of baked chicken Lunch: kale mushroom soup, 1 grapefruit Snack: 15 olives, 1 apple Dinner will probably be escargot with corn. And more kale soup, that s#!t turned out good.

I peeked at your diary and I have a comment. Please don't take it as harsh criticism, this was something I learned not too long ago: Western "Chinese" food is crap. It's crap and it has way more calories than you might think. You should get to indulge every once in a while-- especially on such a restrictive diet!-- but if…

Hi, I'd like to add more friends too! I'm 34 and my goal is to lose my last 8 lbs and benchpress 100. I have an open diary (for better or worse...)

Hi, I'm 34, and could use more pals too! I'm trying to BANISH 10 or 15 lbs of fat. Banish it to hell. There's no wedding in my future, but maybe I could motivate myself to dress up for like a fake wedding for my 2 cats? Or maybe not...

Good on you for realizing this! I go through the same thing but could never have worded it so succinctly. I think the trick must be to just hang on through these #@*^ stages where the scale doesnt budge to get to the stages where it does follow the laws of physics.
