  • OMG!! You know, you're absolutely 100% correct on this. A brain fart has caused me to confuse the 17g dose as being 17g fiber! I'm glad I've never counted that "fiber" to get my net carbs for the day. When I called the company, it was to ascertain whether Miralax contained carbs, and I was assured that it does not. Thank…
  • 2 Boar's Head hotdogs, grainy mustard, homemade low carb chili, dill relish, onion, sauerkraut
  • Have you considered donating to food banks, shelters or churches (provided they accept home grown eggs)? Then there's homemade egg foo yung, egg salads, egg drop soup, deviled eggs, breakfast burritos and tacos (made with a baked cheese "taco shell", frittatas...check out Pinterest also. The list is endless!
  • What a great idea! Just made some on Sunday night and had it cold with chopped almonds for breakfast yesterday. Never thought to try it hot, and with BUTTER too! Yum!! It's on the menu for this a.m.
  • Simply FABULOUS! What an inspiration! Can't wait to show this to my granddaughter, who is also doing a great job and loves inspirational stories, pics, etc. You look wonderful, and soooo happy.
  • @eneild...I'm thinking the same. I ordered mine directly from Monin. It's "Le Sirop de Monin". Only sweeteners on label are the ones I mentioned..no monkfruit. I'll have to be careful when ordering and check the labels carefully, especially if ordering anyplace other than the Monin website.
  • Damned spellcheck...sweetened with erythritol and sucralose.
  • Forgot to add my Monin sf vanilla is sweetened with erythritol and such alone. Maybe the 9g one is sweetened with something else.
  • My bottle of Monin sugar free vanilla syrup lists 3g carbs per 1oz serving.
  • I'm thinking gastroenteritis maybe? If so, soft bland foods. No acidic foods including coffee, and no gas producing vegs. Soft cooked chicken, eggs, bone broth, etc. Careful with dairy even if you're not lactose intolerant.
  • I'm 17 years post RNY gastric bypass. I lost 177 lbs on my docs low carb, low fat diet such as the ones mentioned above, and I agree that you should follow your docs advice and diet. And @Angie'sCookie is right...get the lbs off and go keto. After yo-yoing for several years, keto is doing the job for me, with the added…
  • I have all kinds of Stevia and stevia blends but I just cannot stand the stuff. It's Splenda liquid all the way for me. Use it in my coffee and tea. No adverse reactions yet, and the taste is almost identical to sugar Imo.
  • I worked the graveyard shift on my nursing job for 31yrs (now semi retired), and always ate my dinner around 2-3 a.m. I still do. Just finished my Buffalo Wild Wings and it's after 1 a.m. Now off to bed to watch TV until I drift off to sleep (usually around 5 a.m. until my "baby" Cocker Spaniel gets tired of me lying down…
  • Truly inspirational! Awesome job!!!
  • Every few weeks, I'll brown some ground beef, add a jar of Rao's marinara, portion it out, and keep it in the freezer for times like this. When I haven't planned or don't have time to cook a meal, I'll top a portion with an ounce of cheese, throw it in the microwave for a minute and done! I've already done the counts and…
  • I love this idea, @ Sunny_Bunny! I found keto accidentally in October. I had gastric bypass in 2000, starting at 344 lbs. Lost 177 lbs within a yr, and over the yrs regained 71 lbs. I'd always been low carb (less than 100g) when *dieting* after my surgery, but always "hangry" and cheated frequently. I finally got fed up…
  • My homemade naked wings fried in lard with homemade buffalo wing sauce, plus my first attempt at Fathead pizza, pickles, olives, bleu cheese dip with celery and cucumber sticks. Staying in with the grands and having movie night until the ball drops, and after.
  • You get a grand STANDING OVATION from me!!! Great job! You look wonderful, and so happy, as you well should be. Congrats!!
  • Awesome JOB!!!! You look wonderful!
  • Just for the record, you can "gain all of your weight back (plus some)" after going off ANY diet, not just low carb. I've done it a million times! OP, find what looks sustainable to you, and give it a go. There's a world of possibilities out there, and each of us has a choice. And whatever you do, I have always found that…
  • @KnitOrMiss, thanks for the recipe and the well-wishes! Not familiar with the simply lime, but I'll find it. @carlsoda, I thought the powerade would be more convenient, but I'm worried about the sweeteners causing carb cravings. That's what Splenda does to me (the packets) and powerade contains sucralose. It prob wouldn't…
  • @RalfLott, my condition was never formally diagnosed. My colon was grossly enlarged (megacolon ruled out), causing severe pain, and extensive diarrhea and vomiting. I was hospitalized 5 times in a 3mo period. I was evaluated at a prestigious University, still with no definitive diagnosis. An exploratory surgery revealed…
  • Back end? :p After the procedure has never been a problem...a little groggy at first, but I'm always famished and ready to eat right away! As for the magnesium citrate, I've had so much in my life that I have an aversion to the stuff now. But you're right...a lot more economical than Miralax.
  • Thanks! Have to check out the Super Sweet.
  • Lol!! I remember Postum (I think), but don't remember my mom ever buying it. Ovaltine is still sold in some stores...at least within the last 2 or 3 yrs.
  • U nailed it! Said her breakfast was "a Coke and a smoke"!
  • Years ago, my nursing instructor told us she and her colleagues were required to taste the urine of diabetics for sweetness! They also made their own bandages, and stood from their chairs when The Doctor enter the room, :D
  • You're not alone there, my friend. Those thoughts enter my head all the time. Hope I'm never compelled to test it though :s
  • Thank you to everyone who replied...I gained a whole lot of insight from your responses. I was mainly interested in the sweetener because my coffee is the ONLY thing I drink/eat to indulge my sweet tooth. I have always loved my daily super sweetened (used to use 5-6 Splenda packets in 12ozs coffee) cuppa joe, and thought I…
