  • My Father was placed in a nursing home yesterday - he is 91 - this wasn't unexpected however I ate my feelings yesterday. It is what it is.
  • Weight loss can be frustrating if you are focusing too much on a scale. Maybe sign up for a 5K? that can be your goal. Maybe you can even choose a minor goal (drinking enough water every day) for your goal, think small & big changes will happen. Just remember Patience + Consistency = Results
  • I'm in. Halloween is coming up and I need to watch what I eat or it will really get out of control
  • Welcome! I hope you find what you need here. Just keep logging in :)
  • Even if you ate more than normal, I doubt very much you ate 35,000 extra calories which would truly be an extra 10 pounds. No it's water weight, the extra sodium you probably ate, and your body just needs more water and for you to get back to what you were doing before and it will disappear. Glad you enjoyed your trip!
  • I have a blood clotting condition and HCG can raise the risk of clots. I would recommend avoiding HCG entirely! Also, is this a "diet" you can do the rest of your life? 500 cals a day? mmm NO! NO! Avoid anything that does not promote lifelong healthy habits!
  • First off, congratulations on getting healthier! The changes you are making right now are what is going to determine your success and it sounds like you are taking the steps to create change! Congrats! Do what your head and heart tell you is the right thing to do. The decision to have surgery is between you and your doctor…
  • Just wanted to check back in and say that I have been having the bone broth, I just kind of jazz it up with mushrooms and onion and to me it tastes like a rich French onion soup. No leg cramps! I also use the topical magnesium spray or try and soak in a tub with Epsom Salt. I agree that 90g is not a lot for protein but…
  • In 2009 I had a major PE, CPR, ICU and a year with about 5 surgeries. I was at a healthy weight when this happened but had become sedentary. My aha moment was knowing that I could have lost my kids, my husband and everything we had in a moment. Since then I have run a half marathon but I have focused the last 4 years on…
  • Whatever you do, just know your fitness level, watch your form and you should be fine! Let us know how your session went!
  • I also have a wifi scale and it also fluctuates. Try to weigh less often, maybe once or twice a week. Everyone fluctuates. Eating something salty one day can pack on a pound. But is it truly a pound? nope. Focusing on fresh food and vegetables is really truly the way to go. I ask myself did I really eat 3500 calories more…
  • Time to change it up...maybe try something new? I ran and ran and even did a half marathon...yep logged hundreds of miles and never lost a pound. I started doing circuit training and my body responded in a way that it hadn't with running. My mantra is Patience and Consistency. Really look at what you have been eating and…
  • First off...APPLAUSE for the start and the effort! That is huge! I agree with all those above that says modify for now but there are also lots of videos on youtube for Chair Yoga (sounds easy? yeah it's a real workout) and also see a podiatrist. They will help you select proper footware for your daily life as well as for…
  • As long as it's food I'm good, just no pill form, it throws the coag way off so whatever I eat I'm consistent with it. Any time I travel, get really tired, modify my exercise program, etc it can really make the test results vary. I love low carb but leg cramps are my only complaint. I'm never hungry on it and even the…
  • I try to stick to under 25 net carbs and about 90 grams of protein. I do have topical magnesium spray and they usually only hit during sleep so before bed I could be better about applying the spray. If I have time a soak in a bath with Epsom salt helps too. I drink a ton of water. I think the bone broth might help but it…
  • Invested in a Withings Wifi scale which also measures bone mass, muscle and fat so not focusing on just actual "weight" Still down 2 sizes but the scale creeps up so it is time to watch portions and make better choices. I work in an ER and it is surprising how many bad food choices there are and the switch from day to…
  • I am also an all or nothing person until I learned something...Those aren't the people who succeed at weight loss. It is not a linear process, there will be ups and downs (cut yourself a lot of slack!) and for that you have to have a plan. First rule: You need to have a plan for the days you don't want to go to the gym,…
  • and yes, I am a woman, thanks
  • It was $40 and I just really like numbers so it was an average of 15% lower but it was easy and I just like knowing
  • 5'7" and the heaviest I got was 176, down to 162. Plateau for the summer but ready to get back on it and get down to 152. I lift weights 2x a week, cardio another 2-3 days through jogging/eliptical/whatever. I have found that the only way to be is patient and consistent
  • Throw out the word Diet forever, it has the word DIE in it, just get a lifestyle...don't think big...think small do-able steps, walking 10 minutes more, getting rid of one soda a day, trust me, you can start this journey...but do not think of it in terms of a beginning or a destination, this is life and you will get what…
  • Thank you, thank you...what I was looking for!!
  • The link to what he was referring to, although after looking at the literature, it was not how he presented it...he matter of fact said to get "75 grams of protein over 3 meals...25 a meal". I am not a fan...just happened to be waiting for our local news to start. http://www.doctoroz.com/videos/protein-fact-sheet
  • Thanks, all the great ideas I needed. I agree about the hemp powder, a little dusty for my taste, but thanks for the recommendations.
  • Anything Can Happen - Ellie Goulding It's not an "official" theme song, but it is in a lot of shows and movies, just kind of quirky and true
