  • Not got many suggestions, no Fridge and low carb/sugar is difficult! Vegetable crisps (homemade) for a snack, but they only keep for about 48hours. Unpeeled fruit, oranges, kiwis, bananas are a good one to have on hand. Things like carrots, peppers uncut don't need to be refrigerated so could be one to carry around and cut…
  • Great, welcome!! :) Good Luck and post back when you have done today's 30mins :)
  • It just depends on your personal preference. If you are still hungry, some slow release carbs during the day and protein will help fill you up more, this may add more calories to your day so you may have less for the evening, but depends what else you have. I would just trial them all if it was me, try snacking for a week,…
  • Why not substitute packet crisps for home made ones? Make vegetable crisps, slice selection of veg (carrot, courgette, sweet potato, parsnip, beetroot etc.) thinly few sprays of fry light and bake them in the oven. Makes a lovely alternative. I don't eat crisps but do eat vegetable crisps now.
  • possibly sensitivity to high potassium foods, I have it. I don't get super bad pains but bad enough to make stop and curl over a little until they pass. I have to avoid things like avocado, mushrooms, yoghurt, apricots and bananas. But, I do eat spinach and kale which gives a little pain but I enjpy them too much :)
  • One's I have learnt I need to avoid are cooked green veg (cabbage or broccoli), red meat, chillis, soy sauce and coffee! I have my list of "safe" foods I can eat before short and long runs now Edit: and ALL fruit
  • Exercise-wise for the weekend, do it first thing! Get it out of the way as early as possible, before the kids wake up maybe? If you feel like it later on, you can always do a little more exercise (go for a jog/walk, play with the kids outside) burning more so no need to feel guilty in what you indulge in at the weekend.…
  • Hope they have arrived! Less than a week to go! I did a test run in the pool with my gloves, socks and hat thing (ordered one with a strap on that also covers my ears too). And it was hard! I found they got in my way and were quite restrictive but my hands and feet did get really hot so hoping they will keep me warm in…
  • I've just done a 10km run a few weeks ago. To get to it from the 5km, I just added on a little distance to my usual distance twice a week and ran my 4/5km usual run a little quicker. My problem was not fitness to try and reach the 10km distance, it was boredom! Get really bored running but feel great when finished it. To…
  • Try a 3-5 day juice fast, there are lots of recipes available for different juices to get in all of your vitamin needs It will make you loose a lot of weight quickly, albeit water weight, but if your just looking for a quick boost could be something for you. I'd not recommend doing it for any longer as you will really…
  • I did a 5k training plan similar to c25k and did my first 5k in 42mins, I am slow :) I stopped running after that, then nearly a year later I started running again, now, and am doing a 5k in about 28mins, in a race I think I would be a couple mins quicker.
  • Just have them as a vegetable side with whatever you usually have for dinner. One way to have them which is delicious, is shred them, chop some leeks and garlic and fry them lightly in a pan. For non veggie, shred as above but add bacon, super yummy! They are also good to mix with cabbage, if you make any cabbage/potato…
  • Go and have a break from Wedding Planning and any other stress in your life. If you can't do a couple days maybe just a couple hours? Go and do something you enjoy which makes you feel good. Go for a facial? Massage? Something which is a treat just for yourself that can take your stresses away.
  • Will be between 12-17 Celsius so wetsuit needed and mandatory anyway :) Everyone looked so cold when I watched it last year so I want to be as prepared as possible and as covered as possible too
  • Good Luck to you too! I am doing the mile heat on the Saturday! Best be getting your suit soon though, lots of places I tried were sold out, ended up ordering mine from Wiggle.co.uk as I knew which I wanted.
  • Worst part I find in weddings.. standing around waiting for the endless number of photographs to be taken. It's the worst for those who are not in the photographs, or only in very few as not part of the bridal party. Another dislike of the weddings is the seating plans! I hate being put with people I don't know as the…
  • Depends what you would normally do on the weeked that makes it difficult. If it is eating out, look at the menus before you go and find the best healthiest option for you and tell yourself that is what you are having so don't look at the menu when you arrive to be tempted by other things Get your workout done first thing…
  • I am the same with Apples, they make me hungry. And Yoghurts!! If I am having a big meal/dinner party, if I am too full after the dinner for the pudding, I eat a yoghurt and then have room! :) (proabably should just stop eating when i'm that full but the pull of the tasty puddings my mum does at big dinners is too much :) )
  • If you want to run, why don't you enter yourself into a 5k race in 12 weeks time or so? You then have to train as you know the date is looming, tell everyone you know you have entered to stop you from backing out :) Hopefully, when you then try to go out and train, you will not want to stop and quit as you know you have…
  • Totally agree! MFP is full of rude people, some people are able to give constructive critisim and feedback, showing what people may be doing wrong/right and giving their opinions. Others, are just plain mean! Have sarcastic comments, are very brash and have zero respect for people asking for some help or advice. One thing…
  • Tomato based are the best option, no creamy ones. Could still be oily though, depends on the restaurant. Best option is to go for a dry curry, just spiced meat or fish, no sauce (cannot for the life of me remember the name) Then go for salad/vegetable sides
  • Thanks BerryH.. I had not even thought about the fact I could be kicked by the other swimmers, with everyone being in eachothers way. I have been swimming in the pool for a mile and not touching the side or putting my feet down for the entire time to try and get used to the dstance, as in Open Water I know I wont be able…
  • I don't know anyone who has done it, but have heard it was supposed to be really good exercise for toning the stomach.. Can imagine it would do good as you are holding in your core and moving your hips around and keeping good posture.
  • I'd say you need to rest, don't want to cause more injury which means even more recovery time. If you do want to keep going though, I used to get knee pain from running, I have found I can still run if I wear a compression bandage, but I do take it easy when it is sore. I find they work really well for me. Could you try…
  • I don't actually pay attention to what I burn as not trying to burn lots of calories myself, but from what I know and have read previously the highest burns calorie wise are zumba, spinning, kettlebells classes, circuits training, running (not just jogging, sprints and jogs) You could always also try joining a sport,…

  • That's great, thanks everyone. Will try stretching, see what I can do here in work during the day hidden by the desk, may just have to go hide in a meeting room and do some floor ones too :) Will defo try the foam roller too if this continues to be a problem Thanks!! :)
  • That is fantastic, well done!! Not a small running victory at all! It is an amazing achievement! Keep on going, you never know, you could be running those marathons with your sister in the future too :)
  • I have not said dietary fat is unhealthy, I was simply replying to the post which said they enjoy to eat "junk and fatty stuff". Thanks but I am happy with my nutrition and what I put into my body, I have asked for no comments on it from you or others, simply offering my own experience to the OP that she is not alone with…
  • People's bodies are different, I am just at the weight I am and it stays that way. (I am perfectly happy where it is, not trying to change that, if I was I would change what or how I was eating to try) Some people eat lots and lots of junk and thousands of calories and don't gain a pound too! I am just sort of like that…
