I've just ordered the Body Beast workouts. I've been doing ChaLean Extreme and P90x for a long time, so been looking out for something new to try. Can't wait to get started!

It definitely gets easier! I'm 43 and whilst I feel my age after a long day in the office, or when the kids are being hard work, when I'm exercising I have the energy of a 20-something!

I've just ordered Body Beast. I've been doing ChaLean Extreme and P90x forever. I'm hoping I'll love BB as much! Would love some friends doing Body Beast to compare notes

There's some really good advice for getting started with strength training on Nerd Fitness. There's information about body weight workouts, or using dumbbells only: http://www.nerdfitness.com/blog/2014/01/14/strength-training-101-where-do-i-start/

I've started using Happy Scale too. So now instead of fighting the urge to weigh everyday I've embraced it! My weight went up by 2 pounds this morning but the trend line it still on track, so no worries :-) The more data the better as far as I'm concerned!

That one sounds great, thank you!

Thanks Hensue. I'll check those out. I've heard Cathe Friedrich mentioned before, but there are so many of her DVDs on amazon - i've no idea which one would be best for heavy lifting.

I didn't know that they only measure fat in the lower body - is that true? I use my body fat scales once a week. I'm very aware that they are not accurate - but it's good to have a guide - no matter how vague!

Bump to read later

Oh, am I meant to appear adoring and attentive? I've been doing that wrong then. Only 21 years though so still learning.

Guys, I'm sorry, I'm going to drop out of this challenge. These last couple of months have been probably the most stressful of my life so far, due to being made redundant, so I'm quite pleased with myself for not piling the weight on. Happily I now have a new job lined up but I'll never catch up with you guys now, so I'll…

Nothing. We don't celebrate St Valentine's Day. Or so my husband tells me :-(

Start weight - 11 Jan - 133lbs Week 1 - 18 Jan - 134lbs Week 2 - 25 Jan - 134lbs Must try harder... I'm happy putting the work in on the exercise front, but I find restricting my eating really tough.

I only work out at home. Time constraints mean going to a gym doesn't make any sense for me. I'm currently doing P90X. You need some equipment but not a lot. My favourite workouts in my (ever growing) DVD collection are Tae Bo, Jillian Michaels 30 DS and ChaLean Extreme. No reason at all why working out at home shouldn't…

Not a great start :-( Start weight - 11 Jan - 133lbs Week 1 - 18 Jan - 134lbs On paper I should have lost half a pound this week. The stress of being made redundant is seriously getting to me, and I can only assume that this is affecting my metabolism is some way. I hope all you guys have done better than me!

11th Jan = 133lbs

Hi Leila I would love to be in this challenge.I've put weight on over Xmas, of course, but it was delicious so I don't regret a single bite! 1) Charlie 2) Surrey, UK 3) 150lbs, Feb 2011 4) 134lbs (this is a guess - I haven't been brave enough to weigh myself since Christmas!) 5) 126lbs 6) I do all my exercising at home…

That's lovely :-) Well done!

It's never occurred to me to do this! I have dry hair so will definitely try it.

In the spirit of getting to know each other, I wondered what your exercise of choice is? Because of time/child care restrictions I do all my exercise at home using DVDs. At the moment I'm doing a mish-mash of all my favourites: 3 days a week of cardio: I rotate Tae Bo, various P90x workouts, and Jillian Michaels' 30 day…

Hi Guys. My cold has finally gone so I'll be back on the exercise this evening. I have managed NOT to eat my own body weight in toast as I normally would when ill, so I'm hoping for a good weigh-in this week. Good luck with the healthy eating whilst you're away Laura!

Hi! I'd love to join your challenge! The idea of a smaller group is great. I haven't lost anything for a while so I really need to kick things up a gear. A 5 pound loss in October would be brilliant. NUMBER 2 My name is Charlie. I'm 40, have a pretty stressful job, and 2 young daughters. So I'm normally pretty exhausted…

Wow, you are the first man I've seen who actually looks good with a goatee! I'm shocked.

Completely understand where you are coming from. I thought I was looking ok but looking through my recent holiday snaps I couldn't find a single pic of myself that matched my mental image! It's a dangerous situation when you are getting close to goal because unless you keep reminding yourself of the reality then there is a…

Gosh, I didn't even know this was a thing. I shall go and look in the mirror forthwith!
