  • I got my FT60 by Polar about a month ago and I LOVE it. Granted it's a bit on the spendy side, but depending on what features you want, it's totally worth the extra money! It's got GPS functions for my runs, plus it gives you training programs to keep you on track through the week. Shows your HR, calories burned, what burn…
  • I always buy those mini packets of Crystal Light and carry a bunch in my purse, school bag, etc. That way, whenever I'm feeling like water is too boring, just toss a packet in a bottle of water and Viola! Tasty and refreshing. Be careful about which flavors you get--some range from 5 calories a packet up to 30-50 calories…
  • I'm going to school for Athletic Training and Nutrition. I started schooling for Pre-Optometry, and realized that there was no way I could sit in an office all day. The only thing I'd ever been passionate about up to that point was sports, so I chose Athletic Training. The more I was around the athletes, the more I…
  • Thank you for sharing! What a great article!!!
  • I'm looking at the FT60, granted I haven't purchased it yet. It has some great features, like the audible alarm if you're too low or high with your HR. It also has the PolarStar training program, which helps you meet goals for each week and kind of does the leg work for you, telling you how to train, the intensity and how…
  • Thanks guys! @JesseBYAH--You're ALWAYS motivating me! I love seeing your posts and status updates :) Let's do it! @chk-- The dress idea is a GREAT idea! I finally got into a size 8 dress about 2 months ago which is the first time I've been in single digits since middle school :D I'm afraid to go too small because I think I…
  • I agree with the above poster. It's okay to hit the cardio everyday, but you shouldn't be circuit training quite so much. Your body needs times to heal and repair itself. I love working out too and would every day if I could, but I know my body needs time off to relax. Try cutting back for a week or two and see how that…
  • Everyone here is doing so well on their weight loss journeys! Congrats to all of you tall, beautiful ladies!! Keep it up :)
  • Just an FYI-- usually when they estimate calories burned for kettlebells, it's for exercises with a 20-25 lb kettlebell, so if you're using a 5-10 lb, your calorie burn will be less, but it's still such a great workout anyway. Just plan accordingly!
  • Cross country skiing is the first sport I've TRULY fell in love with! I've always been an athlete, but this is one that I'm passionate about. I've skiied nearly every day this winter and it's been the best winter in years! It's almost a perfect workout--it's great for cardio, the scenery is amazing and it's fun regardless…
  • I love seeing all you ladies coming to this board! It's nice to finally see women who are tall and strong like me! You're such inspirations and great motivation! Keep up the great work :) Can't wait to get to know some of you!
  • The only appropriate thing I can say is... DAAAAAYYYUM!!!! Congrats!
  • Yep, if you're not taking in enough calories to support your daily BMR or your exercise, your body will hold onto all the calories it gets because it's in starvation mode, even if it's just a few hundred under. My suggestion would be to aim to eat what MFP tells you. Before I did that, I was under too and couldn't lose…
  • I always use my break day in the middle of the week, because I know I'll be busy and focused on school or work, instead of eating too much. That way, when I can relax on Saturday, I can overindulge a little bit more, because I worked out. I definitely think Saturday or Sunday is usually when I push myself the hardest.
  • @honeyrabbt-- I went through the same thing as you. I thought that the less I ate, the quicker the weight would come off.. However, I just started eating more now, and consuming my "exercise calories" and now the weight is really starting to come off. I've lost 5 pounds in the last two weeks by increasing what I'm eating,…
  • I love eating cottage cheese on baked potatoes, or with poached eggs for breakfast! Really though, I'm addicted to cottage cheese! I love the stuff!!
  • I'm not in your position, so I don't have much for good advice for you, but I hope everything works out! Just think of it as another "adventure" you can tell your grandkids one day... The worst that can happen is moving back home again!
  • If you're feeling tired and run down, take a break. Let your body relax and heal. If you're just "sick", as in a chest or sinus cold, I've been told to push through a decent workout, which usually helps me feel better quicker anyway! Moral of the story: You know your body! If it's telling you to rest, do it!
  • The rule of thumb is to not dip below 1200 calories for too long, otherwise your body will start to go into starvation mode and hang on to every calorie consumed. I thought a 1,000 calorie diet would work, but actually, once I "upped" my calorie intake to what MFP was telling me, the pounds started to melt off.
  • I like what kbellnurse had to say about losing weight vs losing fat. It's true that by dieting alone, the number on the scale will go down. But if you want toning along the way, exercise will help you achieve that--plus extra lean muscle=burning more calories throughout the day anyway. From the sounds of it though, you're…
  • I've had this happen to me if I push myself too hard during a workout, especially if I've eaten prior, even an hour. I'd usually stick to two or so hours beforehand. It's also almost happened when I'm not breathing throughout my workout. Weird, but true. Maybe the cause of yours, and maybe not!
  • Way to go! You're an inspiration! Keep it up.
  • UGH, that was me yesterday. I couldn't get full no matter what I tried, so I gave in--a bit. Sometimes, you just have to let yourself eat what you want--comfort foods, etc. And get right back on track the next day! I feel a thousand times better today since I let myself cheat a bit yesterday :) Hope that helps.
  • Ooooh, thanks! I always forget about rice cakes, and I actually really love them!!!

  • You have the willpower of steel. I would've finished three cookies and devoured anything in the break room by now. Just think, you're almost home free!!
  • On my soap box for just a moment-- Realize that in the times around World War 2, families spent over 30% of their income on food. We currently average less than 10% on our food. Interesting, no? Healthier food costs more, but remember how you feel after eating a nutritious meal of veggies, fruit and grains? Then eat some…
  • Relax, put your feet up, or do something good for your soul. Don't let the outside world disturb you, just for this evening. Make it yours. Just realize that it's only one day and tomorrow the sun will rise again :) We're all here for you!
  • Thank goodness I'm not the only one, although I hope it passes for everyone quickly!!! Hahah.. I've really upped my water intake recently and I'm trying to drink even more today. Thanks for the great answers everyone!

  • I hope you're friends aren't like a lot of my friends. When I started to lose weight and get healthy, mine did the same thing. I was one of the big, funny girls in my group beforehand, and after I started losing weight, I was taking attention away from them. Certain friends of mine tried to sabotage me to keep me…
  • Since it's only the 2nd day of February, should we try a challenge for the month? Even something simple like measuring your food precisely, working out so many days a week, or something?
