  • I slice a banana, freeze for a bit, and top with a little chocolate syrup. Graham cracker square, a little whipped cream, topped with strawberries. Low cal pudding or jello cups. Dark chocolate squares.
  • I totally understand. For me, the problem is when I get the pizza, I don't stop at one slice...I'll eat half the pizza. I just don't have that kind of will power yet and I know it. I will say that I now cook at home and look for new recipes all the time. It keeps it fresh and I seldom have cravings now. Rather than cut out…
  • Skip the rice cake. Pizza sauce and cheese on a portobello mushroom. Just as easy. And yum!…
  • I am currently using both. I started with WW, but also like to see my overall calories and the break down. I do log all fruits and veggies here, even if it puts me over a bit. (If I'm over on here, I'm usually over on WW points, too.) In the long run, if you are not losing, you will want to be able to see the whole picture.
  • Mashed cauliflower for mashed potatoes
  • Really bad advice!!! 100 grams does not equal 100 calories or 1 cup 100 grams of granulated sugar = 387 calories 1 cup of granulated sugar = 774 calories These are both a significant number of calories over 100! OP - Great job of following your instincts, doing the research and then making a choice that worked for you!
  • I do the same lunch most days...just making small changes for flavor changes. Turkey sandwich on a sandwich thin...change flavors with mustard, honey mustard, type of turkey, different cheeses, etc. When I get tired of turkey, then london broil or chicken for awhile Salad - currently with almonds, sesame seeds, wonton…
  • Go HAWKS!!!
  • Chicken Gyro - Shred a rotisserie chicken from grocery store, put on a pita. Squeeze on a little lemon juice, add fresh thyme, tomato, onion, feta. Top with sauce - dill weed mixed in plain greek yogurt. I still cook. I look for a new recipe every week. Keeps things from getting old. I also second skinnytaste.com
  • I have been married for 26 years. I put on 20 pounds while we were engaged. I put on weight during two pregnancies and never lost it. I continued to gain, and gain, and gain. I am now working my way down from 300 lbs. My husband tells me I am beautiful. He tells me I am desirable. He supports my efforts to change for my…
  • With all due respect, after looking at your diary, how are those couple of pieces of pizza going to destroy everything you've worked for any more than the Cracker Barrel you had yesterday or the Burger King and pumpkin roll the day before? You stayed under your goal both of those days. Plan for it.
  • If your calories are low and you are hungry, maybe try adding some cheese or nuts to your snacks. For meals I try using the same purchased item in different ways. For example, I'll buy a turkey breast, cook it in a crock pot, eat a meal with turkey, potato, veggie, even stuffing; then with the rest make a turkey sandwich,…
  • Chicago style pizza and Chicago style hot dogs!
  • Multi-grain English muffin topped with an egg and a slice of cheese.
  • Welcome! Start by logging everything. Add friends - that is the best way to find support. I would suggest filling in your profile so people know a little bit about you. I personally think it is also most helpful to have friends who have open diaries. I've got a group of great friends who give each other TONS of…
  • Two of my favorites: Chicken taco - put in a tortilla with some red onion, cilantro, tomato, sour cream, avocado, salsa and a squeeze of lime. (Whatever you want.) Or chicken gyro, just use the chicken you have - recipe here: http://www.canyoustayfordinner.com/2011/04/10/lemon-chicken-gyros-with-tzatziki-and-feta/
  • I suggest getting different meat. If only your DH is eating the beef or pork, you wouldn't buy as much, or freeze half of it for the following week. An easy one that can be used for multiple meals - put chicken breasts in crock pot with a jar of salsa. Once cooked have one of the chicken breasts with some veggies for a…
  • I've started in the same boat and been stuck inside due to weather for months. Walk. Set a timer for 3 minutes or 5 minutes, whatever you can start with. Add a minute or two at a time. It will add up quickly. Or buy a cheap pedometer and do it by steps. I have walked thousands of steps walking circles around my living…
  • I have had a Fitbit Flex - worn on the wrist - for a couple of months. It is motivating to have something that measures steps and to challenge yourself. Adding steps adds calories for daily calorie goal if you are synced with MFP. If you eat your exercise calories (net), then it is great. If you are sticking with certain…

  • I've only been at it 3 weeks and it is tedious, but people like all of you are making it far more enjoyable! Thanks!
  • The only person in my life who calls me Shel is my wonderful, wonderful, wonderful  husband. So now I know I'm in the right place!!! Thanks for the welcome!! I will be seeking you out for all kinds of tips and advice!!:flowerforyou:
  • In the same boat...I've fought (and mostly just gained) weight all my life. This time around I'm learning that a set back for a day doesn't have to mean a set back for a week, month, year or life time. It's a day. Even a week long set back doesn't have to mean a lifetime. I'm finding this site really helpful, have gained…

  • I love spaghetti squash. The last time I cooked one in my microwave, it exploded...and I mean exploded. This recipe looks great. My new favorite is Portobello Pizza. I cook Portobello mushroom caps at 375 for 10 minutes. Remove excess moisture. Top with crushed tomatoes or pizza sauce, other veggies or toppings (onion,…
  • What a supportive group! I'm excited to be a part of it. My name is Shelley and I joined MFP 3 weeks ago and am finding the site very motivating. I started at 302 and have a long haul to lose the weight it took years to put on. I have a wonderful skinny husband who is 100% supportive and I have 2 kids in college away from…
  • I just started a couple of weeks ago. There is so much here, it is overwhelming. Just play around with the site. Look through the tabs at the top. Go to settings and look at each section. You put in information and it will set your calorie goal for each day for you. On the food tab, food diary, start logging your food…
  • Just started a week ago and I'm in it for the long haul also. Sending a friend request.
