  • I was using it for awhile. I liked it for what I needed it for, which was the treadmills in wintertime. I only stopped going because of time, as in, I rarely have any lol. I very much miss the hydro massage bed, though. If you can swing the $20 membership I recommend it over the chairs. As far as strength training goes,…
  • One dish that we have quite often at work (and home) that is almost no carbs is Buffalo Chicken Dip. I usually make it with 2 cans of chicken breast (you can use leftover chicken, and I have, but seriously the canned is fine), 2 blocks of cream cheese, 1/2 c of ranch dressing, 1/4 c of hot sauce, and 2 -ish cups of…
  • But "health" isn't what is so often promoted, its weight loss. A lot of people equate weight loss with good health. Quicker weight loss means better health faster. I'm not saying I agree with them, but that seems to be the train of thought I hear around me.
  • Right? We so need a low carb restaurant where I live. I'm definitely going to have to find the recipe, though. I think even my carb-loving husband would like that.
  • I have a hard time not counting calories but I'm working on it. I've found calorie counting puts too much focus on weight and not enough on other health markers. Lately I've been combining LCHF with the concepts of intuitive eating, which is basically listening to your body (not your mind) and giving it what it wants. I've…
  • I'm allowing myself what I truly want and leaving the rest. I'm hosting this year and I try to balance it out. I may have a piece of cake but I'll also have a raw veggie spread for snacking. I know It's not really about the food but I'm going to eat anyway. I just refuse to beat myself up over it.
  • My first preference is dark chocolate with orange or chili mixed in. However, I limit that to once in a great while because I have a hard time eating one or two squares at a time. I love fruit, but some of my favorites (like apples) make my BG go through the roof so I stick to berries, grapes, and halos. And those I watch.…
  • I take a multivitamin and vitamin D, the latter per my doctor's request. I tried the fish pills and couldn't handle burping up fish all day. Sort of made me feel like Ron Weasley burping up slugs, only without the wand.
  • I must be special then because I can eat a plate of potatoes and still be looking for something else. That same ve of cauliflower with some cheese would leave me overly full. Sometes I think these studies don't look deep enough at whatever they're studying. I suppose they have to start somewhere though.
  • Counts as what? Low carb, yep. Or are you saying its low in veggies? Yes, though most low carbers I know would have a piece of that and a salad. Are you suggesting the dishes unhealthy? Why?
  • I can eat half of a large pizza, still feel hungry and be craving ice cream within an hour. If I eat the same amount of calorie in meat, veg, and fat I can go hours without feeling hungry and when I do get hungry I'm still ok for awhile. All that to say I think it depends on the person. At the end of the day it's your diet…
  • I'm starting an employer sponsored Yoga class next Friday. It's chair yoga because I've had trouble with regular yoga in the past. I'm hoping to build up.

  • Where is the basis that "most" low carbers hated vegetables? The majority of low-carbers (and I include Keto - slow carbers in that) I've come across are the exact opposite. I've heard people who became exposed to new kinds of vegetables or new ways of cooking them. In all of the low carb groups I've come across there have…
  • I use a Pacer app on my smartphone and you can either just track for a few days, see what your average is, then add a goal or it has some "programs" you can you.
  • I eat LCHF. The majority of the carbs I eat come from vegetables. I know some low carb-ers eat no veggies but I don't think that's the norm.
  • Awesome news!
  • Lovely post, thank you. The Scale is a big part of why I derailed last summer and I think it's part of what's been holding me back ever since. I had done LCHF for 6 months solid with very few slip ups. My clothes fit differently, I had even gone down a shirt size. Coworkers and Facebookers were telling me I looked like I'd…
  • R If you can see the group leaders names you may try to pm one of them. The group is active.
  • Great to hear! I, too, have suffered from eczema on my hands and it is very unpleasant. Not only is it itchy and sometimes painful it's embarrassing. I do find that low carb helps a lot but I wasn't able to get rid of mine until I started getting allergy shots. Even though the shots are for nasal allergies and I'm not…
  • I think its some part lack of education, some part processed foods, some part being super busy, and some part cultural holdovers on the food while we've become increasingly sedentary in lifestyle. I live in a state that is usually on the bottom of the "healthiest state" lists, as well as the economic lists. I don't know…
  • Busy schedules, other people and feeling socially obligated. Not saying they can't be worked around, just identifying the obstacles.
  • I don't think they're lying so much as not understanding how they can still eat what they want and lose weight. Completely off topic, but we have a guinea pig very similar to the first one in your photo. They're such funny little things.
  • OP, brilliant post. Very positive, thank you.
  • I say eat, just eat smartly. Lots of fruits and veggies, maybe low calorie snacks like mini rice cakes or something. If you're seriously craving something, have it within reason, or find a reasonable substitute. If you refuse to eat, you'll either be completely miserable or you'll end up binging on something you don't…
  • You might also ask the docs about chair yoga. It tends towards those with limited mobility.
  • We are American but do a "Canadian" Thanksgiving (in October) at my mom's for my husband's birthday and at my own house we now do a "Black Friday dinner" because my husband has to work on Thanksgiving. Food is usually turkey, potatoes and gravy, rolls, some type of veggie (corn or green beans at my mom's, squash and sweet…
  • I do salads and leftovers a lot. Egg drop soup is a new favorite that I can make a batch of and portion out over the week, as well.
  • Hurts to chew for very long, so I use chewable mints instead. AS doesn't bother me.
  • I have nothing to add except hello and welcome!
