  • You should check out Amazon for replacement bands. I linked them above. The third party ones are great, inexpensive, and have more secure clasps! I have no worries about losing mine with a traditional buckle clasp.
  • I am loving the Alta. I've had it since April with practically no issues. I love that I can change the band too. I actually bought a new band on Amazon, not because I needed it, but because I liked the different design. It has a traditional buckle clasp instead of the button. I am considering buying a fancier silver…
  • I haven't synced in almost two weeks. The food still syncs so I just log here and check my calorie goal on Fitbit.com.
  • I tried to ask for a DOWNGRADE so I wouldn't have to have a Charge anymore. They wouldn't give me a Flex. After four replaced Charges, I gave up and bought an Alta. Best decision ever.
  • I recommend getting a FitBit that isn't a Charge. The bands aren't replaceable, but come apart easily. I went through four of them (always replaced for free by the company) before switching to the FitBit Alta. The Alta doesn't track flights of stairs or heart rate, but it's perfect for what I need.
  • You lose weight by eating less calories than your body uses. Were you tracking your food intake when you were spinning? We typically eat more in the winter anyway because of holidays and more time spent inside. Spinning itself isn't going to make you gain weight.
  • Yes. My disabled mom raised me alone. Her medication and habits caused weight gain. I learned from her. Most of my childhood was spent sedentary and snacking. I don't think I've ever been within the normal weight range.
  • Is it actually a problem or do you just think it is because people say not to drink diet soda? If you like it, can afford it, and it doesn't impede your health in any way, go ahead and drink it. If you really want to quit, find a substitute. If you've got money, Zevia is a more "natural" diet soda however that's defined.…
  • Have you connected your MFP and FitBit accounts? Go to https://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/30 and click Connect if you haven't already done so. This should allow your MFP and FitBit accounts to communicate.
  • I have a pocket scale that's probably meant for drugs, but I use it in my kitchen instead. It was super cheap on Amazon. http://amzn.to/22ZjSB5
  • You are more than sedentary. I have my profile set at sedentary and let FitBit calculate the rest. I get calories added after 4000-5000 steps. (5'2", 200ish lbs) As others said, if you are miserable, you aren't going to succeed. My net is 1370 and I'm perfectly satisfied.
  • My synced calories disappeared last night. I just re-linked the apps and it reappeared.

  • My diary is public.
  • What grade and subject do you teach? I work in elementary special education. I'm not all the way to keto, but I do low carb. It helps me get through the day with energy and without getting hungry.
  • I understand you're replying to the low carb statement, but I am compelled to share that burned fat molecules are broken down into carbon dioxide and water. It gets exhaled and peed out! Fun fact of the day.
  • I wouldn't put too much stock in it. All it does is take your day's calorie deficit and extrapolate it out five weeks. How ever many calories that is, it translates into pounds lost (3500 calories = 1 pound). Our bodies, sadly, are a little more complicated than that. Also, we don't eat the same things every day!
  • People have succeeded with all ratios of macros. Personally, I prefer high fat and protein because it keeps me full longer. I also have been low carb lately at the suggestion of my doctor. Experiment and see what you like best.
  • Weekends used to be the bane of my healthy eating existence. Now, I have a different perspective. Weekends are time for meal prep and trying out recipes I may not have time or energy for during the week. I spend a lot of my weekend in the kitchen now, and I'm enjoying it. Week days are definitely easier though because I…
  • I'm already Jilly's friend, but anyone else can add me. I start low carb on Monday to help fight prediabetes. (This week's diary looks terrible because I'm logging "normal" for my doctor to see.)
  • Hi! I plan on starting low carb next week after a doctor's appointment to make a plan for prediabetes. (I'm logging my current habits this week to show the doctor.) Feel free to add me!
  • I wrapped a slice of deli turkey and a little cheese inside a canned biscuit and baked it. I made four of them for a total of 338 calories. They were kinda like turkey and swiss sliders! I wish I had taken a picture, but I'm sure I'll make them again.
  • I think most people in this thread are referring to chopped spinach you buy in the frozen food aisle. If you want to freeze fresh spinach, I've seen people blend it up with water and freeze in ice cube trays. Then they are ready to drop in soups, pastas, or smoothies.
  • You can make your own ranch dressing with sour cream or plain greek yogurt and a ranch dressing seasoning packet. If you don't want the packaged seasoning, you can make your own here. Edit: just found this too, the recipe is even easier!
  • I'm inclined to believe you, but going to a food shelf IS embarrassing. There's a free dinner at the church across the street from me every night. I've gone when I'm the most desperate, but otherwise, I don't like to. Yes, it's free for all, but it's discouraging and the other people that go do not make it a good…
  • Which city? I live in downtown Minneapolis and our food prices are decent for most everything. I shop at Target, local chain groceries, and Aldi.
  • You can make your own tortilla chips in the oven using corn tortillas and either spray oil or a light tossing of olive oil. Add some meat, veggies, and salsa on top for nachos!
  • Really? 4oz cans are the little ones. Most places here have the generic brand at $0.79-$1.00. Name brand may be more than a dollar, but less than 2.
  • 1. Tuna is less than a dollar for a 4oz can. Where the hell do you buy tuna? 2. You have a butt-load of milk in there. That costs way more than tuna. 3. SuperCook.com allows you to enter what you have in your kitchen and it will return recipes that use those ingredients. 4. Yes, you've posted about this before. If you are…
  • I throw it frozen in anything that simmers on the stove or in the crockpot. Most recently I added it to pasta as it was boiling and crockpot chili.
  • My coworkers were just talking about it today. You don't have to buy a whole system or program to use it. If one product in particular looks good, you can buy it alone. If you don't get stuck in the whole MLM thing, I'm sure it's just like any other supplement brand.
