  • I quit taking my Adderal XR a couple of months ago. I haven't really noticed a difference in my appetite and I am continuing to lose weight at the same pace as when I was on it. The only thing I've noticed is that I don't get excessively hot like I did on Adderall. My body temperature seems more regulated.
  • I've cycled from one eating disorder to the next since adolescence (I'm in my 30s now.) It's a really tough cycle to break. I've been hospitalized and spent months in residential treatment along with outpatient treatment in the past. I realized that for me I really had to end it in stages. Like first I had to really get…
  • I eat Korean food often (homemade more than restaurants since my mom is from Korea and is a great cook.) There are actually a lot of Korean dishes here in the MFP database, but there are definitely spelling variations. If you just put "Korean" in the search area, it will pull up a lot of dishes. Sometimes I use the these…
  • I just had a sleep study done two nights ago because I'm constantly fatigued and get sleepy during the day no matter how many hours I sleep. I don't have sleep apnea, which I was pretty sure of before I ever had the test done. But they try to rule out sleep apnea first because that's the easiest sleep disorder to treat.…
  • Eating Disorders Anonymous meetings can be somewhat hard to find in some areas. If you can't find a local meeting, you can also try Overeaters Anonymous. If you check the schedule of your local meetings, you'll find some that have an anorexic/bulimic focus. Those are the ones you might want to check out. Definitely try to…
  • Nature's Path Heritage Flakes is my favorite healthy cereal that I eat most of the time when I want cold cereal for breakfast. I like it with milk or in, Greek yogurt with berries.
  • When I first started running, I had knee pain. I read up on form and figured out that I was over striding too far in front of my body. It puts more impact on your knee. The other thing was that my feet were not straight when I ran - my toes pointed outward. That strains the knee a well. When I fixed my form, my knees never…
  • Have you had your glucose levels checked? Hair loss can be a sign of diabetes, insulin resistance, and PCOS.
  • Pears Watermelon Blueberries Brussels sprouts Peas (I know it's technically a legume rather than a vegetable, but I'm still counting it) Daikon
  • Android: MFP Runkeeper (I've tried Map My Run and Runtastic, too, but like Runkeeper the best) Zombies Run (used the Zombies 5K app when I first started running) Spotify Beyond Pod for podcasts that I listen to while working out when I don't feel like listening to music Springpad to keep recipes that I find on the web
  • I think the best way to stave off a binge is not under-eating. It's a lot easier to binge or overeat when your body is extra hungry. I also noticed that once I quit restricting certain foods or thinking of them as bad or forbidden, I no longer felt like over-eating them. If I want ice cream, I let myself have it and enjoy…
  • You are at the lower end of the normal weight range for your height. If you are struggling with hunger when eating a maintenance level of calories for that weight, it might mean your body is not meant to be at that low of a weight. As for the cravings for granola bars, I would just keep eating them if that's what you…
  • There is a prescription strength antiperspirant called Drysol. I tried it just on my underarms and it definitely works. I've heard of people putting it on their palms and feet, too. There is an over the counter antiperspirant that's similar called Certain Dri which worked just as well for me. Some doctors will prescribe…
  • When I first started running I had knee pain. I read some running books and figured out that I was over-striding in front of my body. I shortened my stride length and sped up my cadence to keep my steps light and beneath by body rather than in front. I also noticed that I ran with my toes facing outward rather than…
  • I have always had chubby cheeks - even when I was underweight and wearing size 00. I'm 36 and still have them. I see it as a blessing now that I'm older, because it keeps me looking young . Round cheeks are youthful looking. It's why women get fillers injected into their cheeks as they age - it gives them a more youthful…
  • Can you post a picture?
  • Most beginning 5K programs only have you running 3 days a week with a day of rest in between each day. I'm working on a half marathon program, which has me going four days a week with a day off before and after my long run on Sunday. I know that when I transitioned to running 4-5 days a week with some consecutive days, my…
  • I am in recovery from anorexia and bulimia. I was fortunate to be able to go to residential treatment for 4 months for the refeed/weight gain portion of my recovery. It you have the opportunity to go inpatient /residential, I highly encourage you to do so. The structure you receive there is very beneficial. The other thing…
  • I upped from 1000 to 1700 by adding 100 a week. Once I got to 1500 I added 100 ever other week. I never saw any weight gain. In fact, my weight loss accelerated once I got in the 1500-1700 range.
  • Costco has some really good deals on healthy stuff. I like to get: -Organic baby spinach (it's a big package, but I add it to eggs, sandwiches, and salads, so it gets used up pretty fast) -Fage plain Greek yogurt in a big container - much cheaper than buy small servings at the grocery store -Knudsen lowfat cottage cheese -…
  • Mizuno Wave Inspire 9 Outside on sidewalks and roads I'm a mild to moderate overpronator I'm a heavy runner (>160 lbs) The shoe originally recommended to me at my running store was the Brooks Adrenaline 13, which is a really popular shoe among overpronators/heavier runners. But I didn't like it at all because it felt way…
  • The author has a YouTube channel called Chi Living with a lot of good short videos. This one is good for a description of form:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8egf6aXgH0&feature=youtube_gdata_player. It's on another guy's fitness channel, but he has Danny Dreyer on to teach the form. The big changes for me was making sure…
  • What isn't clicking with Chi Running? I feel like after I read the book a couple of times and watched some YouTube videos, my running really improved when I tried to incorporate the form he recommends and using a metronome to get my turnover quicker and my pace steadier. When I first started out, my knees were hurting…
  • You could look into DDP yoga. I really like it even though it's not exactly traditional yoga - it's faster moving and gives you a cardiovascular work out. You can adapt the positions to accommodate your injuries. On the website, they show a guy who was unable to walk without braces and crutches because of knee injuries,…
  • I saw that someone above mentioned drinking Boost. When I was in treatment for my eating disorder, Boost is what they gave us if we didn't eat our food. It is definitely a decent way to get calories in without eating. There is even a Boost with double calories where you get more bang for your buck. Chocolate and vanilla…
  • Sent you a more detailed PM.
  • Not to scare you, but they will probably do a rectal exam. It's unpleasant but pretty quick. I have IBS and had to go to the GI doc a lot in the past. Pretty much every time, they did a rectal exam.
  • I had to do this because I was undereating and needed to up my calories. I added 100 calories a week until I got up to where I wanted to be (1700.) I didn't gain any weight doing it this way. In fact, as my calories went up, I started losing more weight.
  • Congratulations! I have major depression, as well, and I know how hard it can be to simply get out of bed in the morning or get dressed. I started running a couple of months ago and I feel better than I have in years. It really has done wonders for my depression and anxiety.
  • I have a high instep, as well, and I found that lacing my shoes with an alternate method (I do straight lacing on my newest pair) helped make my shoes immensely more comfortable.
