More than 60 grams of carbs in a meal does seem like a lot, but....really? What happens to carb 61, or if you eat something that has more carbs than that? Sorry, but this does not sound right to me. ;) Source?

Nope, not this early in the game.

If you have been losing and gaining the same three pounds, you are not eating at a deficit. You are underestimating your calorie intake and/or overestimating your calories burned. This is pretty common when learning how to diet in a sustainable way. Food type has nothing to do with weight loss, though we might feel better…

This weight loss is in your first 4 days? If so, that is normal water weight loss, but it will slow down. How much are you trying to lose, and at what rate per week?
-
Absolutely not.

kushunarodri, your doctor put you on a VLCD because you started to gain weight back? That does not make sense, because weight gain means to simply cut back a bit on calories until you find your maintenance again. That 900 to 1000 is drastic.
-
This. ,

Why would you want a fat burner supplement? The only thing required to lose weight is a calorie deficit. Take your pick of fat burner supplements- any will work as long as you eat at a calorie deficit, but none will work if you don't eat at a calorie deficit. They are a waste of money.

You're fine, and doing very well. He's just having difficulty with the change. If he's truly your friend, he'll come around. I hope you reported this workplace harassment. Those type of comments are 100% inappropriate at any time, especially in the workplace.

Did you log your food and stay within your calorie deficit, or at least make sure that you stayed within maintenance calories? Food type does not matter when it comes to weight management. I hope you had a blast in NY. :)

This does not sound healthy at all-punishing yourself for eating too much. This is heading straight into eating disorder territory. You might want to talk to a counselor about this. 38 incline is pretty nasty. Was that constant? Why not alternate between the inclines so that you don't hurt yourself? Your ankles probably…

I see. Still, I'm wondering why your doctor put you on a VLCD with only 60 pounds to lose. That said, I have never tried this one, but I did try VLCD fad diets in the past. They made me grumpy, hungry, deprived and a pain to be around. :) P.S. I just noticed you added your avatar photo! Very cute!

The only thing required to lose weight is a calorie deficit, and that can be done with real food instead of Slimfast shakes. In fact, the word "Slimfast" is just a silly sales gimmick to get people to buy their product. The shakes will work only if you stay in a calorie deficit, so why use the shakes at all? Just plan out…

Ashley, 100 pounds at 5 ft 2 is considered underweight. You don't need to lose weight.
-
Wait a minute....yes to what? There's no question. All the foods she ate are fine in moderation, calorie dense or not. Ashley, 102 calories over is nothing. :)
-
What are your stats? How much are you trying to lose? When you say you are under medical supervision, do you mean your doctor or a dietitian and not a nutritionist or a rep of the diet program? Just know that the only thing required to lose weight is a calorie deficit. Diet type is up to your own preference and does not…

It's all about what works for you. Some people work out better on a full stomach, others not so much. Just remember with IF that you need to still get all your calories in. It's a way of eating and has no magic when it comes to weight loss. :)

Your body weight naturally fluctuates. That's all there is to it. :) As long as you stick to your calorie goal, you will lose weight. If you don't like seeing natural fluctuations, you might want to weigh yourself about once a week.

There is a difference between teaching nutrition, but telling kids she ate nuts for dinner because she was out of calories was really dumb. She could have left that part out. She also has no business telling kids to restrict calories either-and, no, that is not teaching nutrition, etc. It seems to me she is projecting her…

That's great you lost a lot of weight, but I can guarantee you lost a whole lot of lean muscle mass as well. That is never good. However, you did not lose weight (and muscle mass) due to the cleanse, but because you ate at a calorie deficit, and one that was way too extreme. ETA: there is nothing at all wrong with fasting…

Let me hear you tell this to any recovering alcoholic and they will call your bluff. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard, and I am a regular in the recovery community. No. Just no. Cleanses are 100% not necessary. People in this thread who say, essentially, that cleanses are a waste of time and money…

In all honesty, I just don't know if adrenal fatigue is bogus or not because I have not studied up on it. However, how is this diagnosed? Don't you have to have your adrenal glands tested? I ask this because my man had to go through some testing of his adrenal glands due to a growth there. The doctors wanted to make sure…

But.....in reading the original posting, and the one after that, it's clear that she's ingesting way more than she realizes. This is more common than a thyroid issue. ;)
-
Nope. A calorie deficit is a requirement to lose weight. The only time you can eat all you want and still lose weight is if all you want keeps you in a calorie deficit. ;)
-
People who say a calorie deficit is what is required to lose weight are correct. You are not gaining weight on 900 calories a day, so either your calculations are way off or you are not logging everything you eat, or you have a serious medical condition that needs immediate medical attention. My guess is that it's not the…

Banking calories is easy-- you set a certain amount to each day (your daily calorie goal), if you eat under or over, you adjust accordingly on other days so that by the end of the week you have reached your calorie allotment. If you were really eating such few calories as you say, you would be losing weight. Chances are…

I would be scared too. Time to go see your doctor, please. :)

Exactly.

Belarosa, You say you are not trying to lose weight, but you are very underweight and obsessed that the scale shows weight gain. Yet, what you describe you ate above seems like an awful lot of food too. However, if you are only 90 some odd pounds at 5 ft 3, you surely under-eat most of the time. Please, please go to your…

Starvation mode is a myth unless you are emaciated and have lost a certain amount of muscle and weight.
