Is the picture showing because it's not showing up on my mobile device. ETA: Saw the problem. Picture should be there.

Did not know if that was permissible. I did not want to give the appearance I was giving medical advice :) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4215472/

If you want I can send you a link to a clinical trial that investigated a ketogenic diet on people who had run out of conventional options. It was sponsored by NIH. Basically more research needs to be done but I am not sure how you do that without locking people in a room and controlling their food.

So I'm not crazy for going to Costco and getting a massive number of sandwich bags. I will have to keep myself from grabbing more than one bag a day for sure. I've never had more than 5 cups of coffee in my life. I'm 38. ETA: I meant the tiny snack size bags.

I am doing well. I am still struggling to reach fat levels, having no problems staying under 20 net carbs (after subtracting fiber), and I usually reach protein goals. I have decided on macademia nuts as a snack. Looks like 1/4 cup will really elevate fat without drastically increasing carbs.

I have no experience with "cheat days" or "carb days" with keto but when I was doing Paleo, a "cheat day turned into a cheat week or cheat 2 weeks before I was able to reign it in.

Doctors don't know everything. I was originally given 3 months to live, that was May 2015. I have an extremely rare form of sarcoma (which is rare in of itself) and there is literally zero data on what works and what doesn't. I don't mind being a n=1 because that's all I am anyway.

Oops that is what I get for not reading the comments.

I am pretty sure I saw a recipe for keto general tsos chicken somewhere. Not trying to encourage substitutes if that's not what you are looking for so I apologize if this was an unwanted response.

Thank you.

If you are not already there, there are a few keto groups here. One of the most active is "The Low Carb Daily Forum." Not everyone is keto but a lot of people are keto on that forum.

Just my humble opinion but I intend to avoid artificial sweetenders. I think the human body is pretty smart and still sees it as sugar.
-
My local save a lot has them.

Whatever I can get my hands on to be honest. 3 years ago I bought a whole cow with some friends and I asked for all the bones. All the bones made for great broth once I was able to jam them into a crock pot.
-
If you are not taking in enough calories your body could be freaking out and going into starvation mode. Human beings went through extended periods of famine throughout history and sometimes our bodies hold onto calories because it thinks we are in a famine.
-
And I thought I was being creative by adding butter
-
You bring the chicken broth to a boil, added the butter and green onions, then the butter is melted you add the beaten eggs slowly. The egg should cook almost instantly.

I do not have much body fat to speak of. I am at 135 pounds and I am 5'10.
-
Thank you. I have heard numerous stories of people having success with keto.

When I was on Paleo, I have to assume less calories.

I lost quite a bit of weight on a Paleo diet. My carbs were mostly root vegetables like sweet potato and korean daikon and then the minimal carbs from greens and broccoli. I lost about 22 pounds in 3 months. I do not know the mechanism but I am guessing my body stopped producing insulin from all the garbage I was eating…
-
Someone can correct me if I am wrong but the human body can easily turn excess sugar into fat but the opposite is not true. The body cannot turn fat into sugar as far as I know.

Have you ever seen the movie Fathead? I forget the name but one of the food scientist say they are two different types of LDL. "large fluffy" type which is harmless and the smaller type which seems to be the most likely to cause inflammation.
-
With trigs that low the higher than expected LDL tells me you have the harmless "large fluffy" type.

I use it in stews and drink it by itself when I start to feel ill. ETA: Soups would be good too.

They are projecting their insecurities and inadequacies onto you because they are jealous of your progress.

You do need a dash of apple cider vinegar to leach out the marrow and nutrients inside the bones. Forgot to mention that.

The fathead dough makes a decent calzone so I do not see why not.
