funny - you sound very similar to me. Today's my first day back on MFP but I liked seeing the Asics to Brooks post. I loved my Asics (and had used "whatever" kind of clearance sneakers prying to purchasing my Asics... When I went to get fitted for a new pair of shoes last year, we ended up going with Brooks.Adrenaline. I…

I've spent 90% of my run time on a treadmill and when I tried outside it'd slow me down by a minute/mile. I hadn't run for almost 3 weeks b/c of an ankle sprain, my 1st run back was outside and I did great, pace was at its best (maybe the rest helped too) LOL but then yesterday got on the treadmill and wanted to cut my…

this is exactly where you need to be - MFP offers alot of support and encouragement. It's rare you run into a snicker-er. Add me as a friend if you want :) There are people on here with little to lots to lose/improve :)

eggs and turkey bacon are my go-to's. sometimes with whole wheat, sometimes w/o. I throw some texas pete on the sandwich to add some zing. LOL

I used to go during lunch, even if I could only squeeze in 25 minutes, that was 25 min more than what I was doing otherwise. I joined the Y near my (old) job and that's how I was able to squeeze it in. Since then I changed jobs and I have alittle more flexibility (but not much) Now I work through lunch (b/c I have to…

i agree Couch to 5k, get good shoes from the get-go and let your self go as slow as you need to to start going. I started running around 209lbs and for the preceding 34 years of my life wanted nothing to do with running. I barely could do a mile in 15-16 minutes which was my best effort at the time. One day I switched my…

another nail biter. I've destroyed the nail bed and I have bumps and ridges that won't go away. I do it w/o thinking, often in the car. the only way I minimize the destruction is by keeping them cleaned up, manicured, polished if possible. They'll never look human again though, I'm sure of that. LOL

I found out what my resting rate was (BMR/RMR) basically to find out what I NEED to eat to just exist and not have my body shut down. if you have the opportunity to find out what your BMR is, do it. It helps wherein some people's metabolisms are just so different - what I do may be totally different than what works for…

I have a garmin forerunner 210 and I love it. has gps, stopwatch/tracks splits can set by pace or distance etc. you can plug in HR zones, your personal settings calculates calorie burn. etc.

I log everything, even when I fall off the wagon and have a day of insanity that includes too much beer, brownies and bread (my stress foods) LOL

running store. Get evaluated. Get a recommendation and if you want to save a few $, make a note of their recommendations/what you like then go find it online. I did that with my first pair, then my 2nd pair I paid for my excellent service at the store. ;-) btw I love my Brooks Adrenaline.

LMAO this sounds like me. I get bored with some things but I also just really want to learn about EVERYTHING. Running is a true hobby for me now but I think I agree - having hobbies/tryout new things is another one. :)

have you had a massage lately? maybe your body is a little out of alignment for some reason? that's usually what I do to help drop one hip back down (and my shoulders do the same) My body shifts alot because of stupid stuff like my job at a desk, picking up my kids when they are too heavy to pick up, random day to day…

this makes sense to me/what I've heard. BMR is enough to just...exist. (organs function etc..) then you need to factor in your daily lifestyle (throughout the day/what your job is/etc...) I have a desk job so the calorie burn/movements associated with that is about 400+- calories for the day. Then if you exercise, you've…

shoes and stretching. roll your calves and stretch 'em good. I also got compression sleeves for my ankles/calves that seemed to help while I working through them. I'm now up to 4 miles but I stretch religiously and got new shoes..

I drink it after every cardio workout. I do it within 15 minutes of my workout and it helps refuel your carbs/protein.
