Why are they even your friends?

This sounds like the worst idea ever. Let's rub acetone (active ingredient in effective nail polish remover) all over our bodies then go in a sauna to sweat like crazy and breathe in the fumes. Sounds to me like your coach is begging for a lawsuit.

There are lots of peer reviewed articles involving animals eating strange things to supplement nutrient deficiencies...just not so many for us crazy humans.

Raw ginger, or even ginger tablets (yes, they're out there) work for many. I've had success with the seasickness wrist bands (I get motion sickness on large buses).

My issue with CGI is that they charge nearly double everyone else for their races. That being said, they also tend to have more perks, bigger medals, bigger expos, larger fields, etc. I don't see why someone is so angry for donating less than half of her day to help out some runners. She needs to get over herself and do…

I've been on citalopram on/off for about 6 years. Some people cannot tolerate any alcohol at all on it, some can tolerate more. I'm usually okay with a couple of drinks but find that some days I'm more of a lightweight than others. I definitely could not tolerate as much as I used to before being on the medication. I…

Um, because you can't pick where the weight will come off. Sorry! As you lose weight you may lose some from your breast, but if you genetically just have big ones, they'll probably stay that way.

Here's the thing, at 18, you're body is still changing, I didn't develop half of my curves until my early/mid 20s (though everyone is different). If your body is still changing shape (in a good way) 130 may look very different now than it did when you were 17. I weighed 110 in high school and looked pretty average, if I…

Here's a wonderful tool from Runners World: http://www.runnersworld.com/what-to-wear Input a few details: gender, temperature, weather conditions It will suggest proper clothing for you! If you live in an area that's prone to icy conditions, be very careful, not just because you might slip and fall, but if you run on…

^This! Thank you! I was thinking 'large amounts of water in one go can hurt you!'. This is why some people die from drugs. They get sick and then drink tons of water because everyone wants to keep them hydrated. At some point the concentration of ions in the cells exceeds the concentration of ions (salts etc) outside of…

If the other runners out there are actually judging you, they aren't worth a thought anyway! Personally, when I see people getting off the couch and attempting to exercise, I think "good for them!". Do not feel embarrassed. Every runner started somewhere, those fit skinny people probably couldn't run a full mile when they…

Yeah, I don't have pity for you, my own parents forgot my birthday one year.

TERRIBLE substitute for ice cream. I'd rather go without. I did not enjoy it at all. Took two bites, it sat in the freezer for 2 months and I finally threw it out.

Sounds more like you don't actually want to do any cardio. There must be somewhere within a few minute drive that you can go for a run or walk. And why do the stairs have to be IN your apartment? Run the ones outside. My sister and I run stairs in hotels and stuff all the time. Get a jump rope, go outside your house and…

If I get my mouth washed out with soap, does that mean I have a 'clean' diet?

Yeah, I was pretty fit during football season because of marching band in high school.

Run 10 miles?

First, I would start icing after running and on your days off. This should help with some inflammation. Second, be very careful. Pain on the side of your ankle could be indicative of a minor stress fracture that could get worse if you don't pay attention. If the pain starts moving up the leg a bit and down to the top of…

I can give you help with AN exercise. Try a heart rate monitor. This will give you a more accurate idea of calorie burn than just guessing.

Yes, sugar is sugar, but sugar in most fruit also comes with essential vitamins and fiber so it is better than just drinking a soda which essentially has no nutritional value.

A lot of places coat chicken in butter before they grill it (I have worked in food service). In fact where I worked, we used a butter substitute that was actually way worse for you, but this is a common practice in especially the fast food/chain restaurant industry. That's why a lot of the time, you'll get advice to order…

This has nothing to do with what you're eating the night before or in the morning before your run. This is a really common issue that has been addressed by runner's world magazine. Basically, running gets your bowels moving. I get up a half-hour before my run and have a little coffee (most warm drinks will help) which…

You know, the average height for adult, American women is 5' 3.8". So while I say I'm short (5' 4"), I'm average!

I'm on GarminConnect: JoE71084 I don't really log on except to load workouts from my garmin. I use TrainingPeaks more because that's where my training programs are kept.

^this. That area could be any number of things. The last thing you want is for it to become something serious enough that you have to take a lot of time off. I found that out the hard way last year. Get it checked out. There is no harm in having it looked at. If it's something minor, you're good to go, if it's something…

^this. It's also much harder to run outside than on a treadmill. At one point when I was doing all my running at the gym, I could run on the treadmill at a good pace for an hour, but couldn't complete a 5km race outside. Give it time, it will get easier and you will love it so much more than running indoors.

Kroger (and all the other groceries under the company) sell frozen tilapia fillets. You can get a family-size bag (10 fillets) for $9.99 and they are individually vacuum sealed. I am not a huge fish fan but these are really great! I've found similar products at Costco.

Vitamin D deficiency? There is research suggesting it COULD (nothing definitive yet) be related to chronic fatigue. This deficiency is more common in winter (shorter daylight hours and you're not outside in the sun anyway). But it's also becoming more common year-round since people wear sunscreen all the time now to…

^this! People find it so weird that I listen to talk radio (like NPR) podcasts, but for me, they make the time fly much more than music, which I seem to drown out. Find a few that you like and have them ready on your ipod!
