  • Just looking over your post is leading me to look at my diary to see if there are of these patterns. I'm almost sure it's sugary foods for me...I have a sweet tooth!
  • 36 pounds is A LOT of weight. I bet you feel great...keep up the good work.
  • Just trust the process. I can see how discouraging this has been for you, but keep up your increased exercise and keep counting your calories. It's hard not to let something like that go, but give it a month or two and see where you're at then. I go through period of weight gain or stagnant periods where I see no progress.…
  • I always get a black tea, no sugar, no milk or cream. ZERO calories!
  • I don't know if I'm doing things right, but this probably gives me a general idea on my calorie burn. This morning I worked out for about 45 minutes. I did a circuit of running and other exercises. I will log the time I work out as general circuit training minus the running. I let the fitbit track my steps for walking,…
  • Trust the process... I've had to come to grips that whether I am loosing a pound a month or a pound a week both is progress. Loosing 2% body fat and gaining 2% percent muss is progress! We've got to restart our thinking that getting fit is not a quick fix, but a life long lifestyle change. I sometimes walk through the…
  • Congratulations! Along with your big goal start off with some smaller short term goals. My fitnesspal has been the motivational tool to help me reclaim my health. I'm only a few months in, but I already feel like a new person. I look forward to reading more about your journey to fitness and know that the people on here are…
  • I remember reading off of someones else's post that "slow progress is still progress." I've had a few weeks where I have shown fidelity to MFP and did not loose anything or perhaps even gained. I am working out 3-4 times a week. Although I don't see the numbers moving I know that I am overall healthier for me and my entire…
  • I'll have a soda every once and a while, but my wife and I do not bring it into the house. We may drink a soda with dinner twice a month if that. I don't even drink diet soda because of the aspartame. Years ago I was getting chronic headaches. I would always get them after a meal. At the time, I was drinking diet Pepsi and…
  • I'm so glad you shared such a powerful and personal experience with all of us!
  • Thank you for posting. I have not seen the results I was expecting. I have improved my diet greatly, but have also stepped up my strength, cardio, and circuit training. There have been weeks where I haven't seen any weight loss. I need to get a tape measure.
  • I'm with ya...I'll be 30 three months from today!
  • Unless you really think he's worth a shot, ditch him. Don't give yourself or your time to something that appears to be failing from the start. I dated my wife for 7 months before asking her to marry me and before her I was in only 2 serious relationships. Never cheated on any of them...good luck!
  • What a great post for the start of the new year....thank you for sharing!
  • I'm out in the "country" as well and we drive 25 minutes to get to the gym. It's out of the way, but we try to combine errands and activities that we normally would do if we had to "go to town."
  • Right now I an eating low fat cottage cheese and fresh fruit!
  • I do oatmeal (quick oats) and fruit every morning! It takes a little time, but if you boil water in the microwave it takes just 3 minutes and you've got a heart healthy delicious breakfast!
  • I log right before I eat, or sometimes I even log my entire day the day before!
  • I don't know...I used to only weigh myself once a week, but now I do it every day a the same time. I find myself having more success and I feel more encouraged. Other than that I might eat something that I'm shouldn't...maybe I use the excuse "I'm just curious" if it still tastes the same? LOL
  • House of Seven Gables....Zzzzzzzzz
  • I had some ice cream this evening and ate REAL ice-cream. I told myself, if i'm going to do it I'm not foolin' around with that "low calorie" stuff. No more ice cream for a while...just a little treat for me and my wife. In fact I threw away the rest to rid myself of any temptation!
  • $400-$500 a month for a family of 3 (soon to be 4). I have found that we must shop about twice a week if we want to keep fresh fruits and veggies in the house without letting some of them go bad.
  • I used to do it once a week, but now I weigh myself everyday. It feel I am much more informed of my efforts and even with daily fluctuations I am feeling more motivated.
  • I LOVE Nutella, but our love affair had come to an end. I came across an article that highlighted the fact that it contained more sugar and fat than some canned frostings. After comparing Nutella and canned frosting I have not had it since. I used to LOVE Nutella on Nilla Wafers, but this can happen no more :( Nothing…

  • I'll have a 1/2 cup of quick oats with a banana and about a half cut of blueberries. I used to use sugar, but after doing this a few times I find that it satisfies my sweet tooth perfectly!
  • Way to go, you're a go getter! May I recommend planning your meals before going out to buy $100 of any kind of food.
