  • I wanted to reply to this one even though it's been a while since the thread was started. I hope that you continue to inspire like you have. I notice a difference and you've inspired another without the bikini body to get a bikini just so she can better assess how much she's losing. Now to find a not too expensive bikini…
  • Olive oil, avocado, nuts, peanut butter, more grains if you can digest them (no reason to be gluten free unless you need to medically). You can regulate the gluten (ie cut down on the products with wheat but not cut them out completely) and still get a lot of the same benefits as some have discovered by going gluten free.…
  • Congrats! Keep up the great work and looking forward to your posts about being even closer to goal!!!!
  • Saucony is my favored brand. I've been all over the place with trying the different brands and Saucony feels right. Don't know how to explain it more than that, comfort level for the exercise I do, they feel right.
  • So well worded and is quite the reminder for a lot of us. Thank you for sharing your story!
  • Congrats!!!!! Given the circumstances, I'd have done the same thing! I am so anxious to join you in One-derland! Keep up the good work!
  • Find out if you can push your MEP's off a bit longer. Don't try to lose the weight too quickly. Regardless of how it feels, the weight didn't come on quickly either. You're doing yourself, your family and the military a disservice to try and take it off too quickly because you put yourself and mainly your health in…
  • Well done! Keep up the great work!!!!
  • I like them. But I also like my fries (yes, American here) with malt vinegar rather than ranch or ketchup when I can get them that way. I don't eat them as often any more by choice (not willing to spend my calories on them) but I still enjoy them. :-)
  • I agree "WHO CARES". Yes, it's probably "bad" for me but isn't there a new study daily that "this" or "that" causes cancer and we must stop using it! Everything in moderation, be it food, soda, using certain soaps, or shampoos, or conditioners, etc. And isn't the saying "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger". LOL I say…
  • Oh, I forgot about Peanut Butter M&Ms. Those are a major downfall for me too!
  • I'd say Dark Chocolate and the darker the better but thinking about it I also have to say Reese's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups (or anything dark chocolate and peanut butter). I can usually abstain from most anything and people at work think I've got this excellent willpower but dark chocolate is my downfall (hence not…
  • I hear you on how frustrating it is. When I hit those moments, I look back at what I've done over the past day or two. Usually it's my workout that's the culprit and within a day or maybe two (after the scary weigh-in), I'm either back to where I started or I've dropped weight. Keep doing what you're doing and give it…
  • Log everything, the good, the bad and the ugly. As to the gym, all gyms I've been to have instruction. Even though they have you sign a liability waiver, they don't want the liability of you hurting yourself on their machines. Take advantage of that, ask for instruction on the machines. It is said here (and I've heard it…
  • That's Great!!!!!
  • Okay, just for the record, I eat back 1/2 my exercise calories but that's because I use the MFP recommendations. If you're using TDEE method, then you're not supposed to eat back the calories according to everything I've read. Nothing more to add.
  • Love Chipotle but make it a special occasion place. Always get a burrito bowl but still love all the stuff that goes in it! Now I'm hungry for the place and it doesn't work into my diary today. Perhaps if I still want it tomorrow, I can plan ahead. :-)
  • I'd say this thread and all the positive it's brought about! Before/After pictures NSV's Scale Victories too People getting it done (that'd be my FL and everyone "beast" mode at the gym) Knowing that "Beast Mode" isn't a bad thing
  • Read any links provided (guide to sexypants is my favorite for information). This sounds like you aren't eating enough and therefore aren't getting enough nutrients. I started having at least 126 pounds to lose, and I can even stretch that to 136 pounds to lose before I believe I'd look anorexic even though BMI states I…
  • I'm an "in moderation" person myself and love my daily Coke Zero (I prefer it to Diet Coke and I'm not a Pepsi fan). I've cut back to no more than 40 oz of Coke Zero daily and usually can keep it down to 20 oz. I've done this by setting a limit on how much water I have to drink daily (1 gallon is my daily goal) and if…
  • I'd start by reading "a guide to get you started on your path to sexypants." Also, as far as cooking goes, pick some dishes (or sauces) you like and use the internet. There are so many websites for recipes and even recipes for the beginner. Add me if you wish, and if you find some recipes but need some lower fat tweaks to…
  • I use EVOO and Canola Oil for the most part. I haven't tried the coconut oil yet but have heard great things about it. I am also one of those 80/20 people (eat healthy/good 80% of the time and junk 20% of the time). Now that I'm over the gallbladder surgery (emergency surgery to remove a gallbladder is no fun) and know…
  • Congrats!!!!! Keep up the great work!
  • Yes, we grow complacent. We become "good enough". To get over that hump, it's time to recommit. Why do you want to lose those additional pounds (health, special outfit, revenge for a broken heart, and/or children - the reason is different for everyone)? What's that goal going to look like for you (this visual may not be…
  • Honeycrisp is my favorite.
  • I'll say, I always perceived my self as "shy" until my first husband left me. Took a drama class to "come out of my shell" and never looked back (I still perceive myself as an introvert who likes to have her picture taken at things like Renaissance Faire). Yes, compliments can feel embarrassing but I've also found that if…
  • As everyone else has said, a smile and a "Thank You". They'll ask if they want to know more. That's when I get flippant and say something along the lines of "it's the silliest thing...I'm eating less and moving more" Usually that shuts most people up because they aren't ready to take the steps necessary, they want a…
  • I'd say the compliments (weight loss specific) came around the 25 pound mark. Now at the 50 pound mark (and lack of funds to support the weight loss ie the new clothes budget), I'm getting more reminders to get clothes that fit. At the moment that means a pair of pants, or a skirt, or a shirt from the thrift store every…
  • Sorry about your losses.... For me (and I've been battling depression on and off for over 30 years now), I've decided to turn to exercise (become an Emotional Exerciser rather than Emotional Eater). It really works to go do cardio for an hour when you're trying to fight depression. Much like the emotional eating, it's a…
