Your success amazes and delights. Well done!

Just want to add that I am claiming nothing other than what worked for me... (other diets are available!!)

Hi Sara If I read it correctly, I think Grokette's advice is very dangerous and is absolutely 180 degrees about from the facts. As someone who has had high cholestrol, had heart issues, and now has low cholestrol and a healthy heart, I might feel I can safely state that! As for how to lower cholestrol, I would suggest a…

I think you have to keep on top of maintenance else it's to easy to forget what you are doing and leave the healthy living behind. That way you run the risk (as I did) of getting sloppy and putting the weight back on... So keep weighing yourself and keep tracking what you are eating.

Still counting though not so religiously. More... monitoring them. But I am still eating healthily and going to the gym and all that good stuff. When I hit my first goal weight I set myself to lose another 7 pounds just to be on the safe side and leave me a cushioning range to bounce around within.

Just to add to this: men who shower with the curtain pulled back so everyone can see... (that they don't really have a particular attractive body...)

It's a real NSV when the thighs don't rub togrther any more!

The memory of a couple of attacks of angyna last year and 24 hours in hospital attached to a heart monitor keep me motivated!

Hey! Hang on a moment. We don't all drag our knuckles in the dirt!

This TOM is a bad character!

Avoiding factory bread might be a good idea. In order to make the yeast work harder it has extra sugar in it so that it doesn't spend so long proving before it gets baked. You might try finding a craft bakery where the bread is left for the right amount of time without any added sugar and then you get the full benefit of…

Yet another Brit guy here, too, from the Midlands! Richard

A 40 something guy in the UK here. 43 and I decided I had to do something about my cholesterol. The side effect was that I lost a lot of the weight I'd put on through eating a healthier diet. At my goal weight now so I am happy to support (and not preach to) anyone who would like to send me a friend request.

From Northamptonshire!

Hi I'm mostly veggie these days, too. It's a great way to lose weight if nothing else!
-
Hey, you look great. I hope you are enjoying the success too!

Wow, thanks for all the messages! Like giving up smoking, I mainly posted to put a marker out in the world, to publicly say that I shouldn't be going back from here but all the messages are gratefully received, too, thanks! NSVs (had to look that up) - Collar bones - they emerged from the body like wraiths from the mist.…

It would kind of take the fun out of it if you're just using your partner to make your quota for the day... An anorexic friend of mine said she was determined not to know how much it burned else she would be banging guys just for the numbers (her words not mine) Just enjoy the moment! (so to speak!)

It seems the only part of me that hasn't changed size is my feet so I need to get rid of the old stuff just to make room for the new clothes I've had to go out and buy!.

I worked mine out using the Body Mass Index calculation. I went for something in the middle of the healthy range and then cross referenced it against my height, and then rounded to the nearest half stone.

Another (mostly) veggie here, too. I'm looking for the low fat content as well as the (ahem) high residue! A little fish for protein otherwise it's quorn. Eating out is hard work. It seems salad or.... I was even offered cake at one place! Not many veggie restaurants around in the UK. Richard

When I was on the staff at a university, I made friends with a female undergraduate who was reaching out for help on the uni blog site. She was bulimic and anorexic and struggling with her second year: not her studies, just with the stress of trying to keep studying in a foreign country while she kept up with her problems.…

Hey there. Just keep going! The best thing is when you have have support and a goal and it's something you really want! It doesn't have to be hard work and a drudge.

Hi, I am about the same age and the same height as you. A few twinges of angyna and a high cholesterol count persuaded me to drop from 215 to 174. From what I can see on the net, a male of our age should be eating about 2000 to 2500 calories just to stand still. I aim to eat about 1400 - to avoid the 1200 starvation point…
