I am wondering if there are any other vegetarians out there on MFP? I'm feeling kinda alone.

    I'm semi-veg... I know, I know... but there seem to be a lot on here... or at least a lot of people asking for more vegetarian dishes.

    Hiya, I have been veggy most of my life, my first taste of meat was at 16 and I haven't really carried on eating it! I will sometimes eat chicken if I go out for a meal due to the lack of interesting or tasty veggy dishes on a lot of restaurant menus however I never cook it at home and would rather not eat it at all! I don't eat red meat or fish, however I do eat eggs and dairy. If you would like to swap recipes or ideas then please add me! I have some great low cal veggy dishes I am currently trying to put on here as recipes. :o)

    I am recently vegan & have found other veg's here on MFP, as well as discovered new recipes on the web & new restaurants in my area. It's been lots of fun so far, and I've only gotten a couple of worried looks from friends & family that think I am going to die of malnutrition...lol (My quinoa salad is far more nutritious than their McDonald's cheeseburger!)

    THere are many of us out there. I am vegetarian for 8 years or so, but have been eating fish for the last year....so I guess Im not true vegetarian anymore.

    I've been starting the conversion the last 6 months or so. Sometimes I slip up, but I'm looking to eliminate meat completely and maybe go from there. Add me if you like!

    Anyone who thinks a vegetarian is likely to die of malnutrition is seriously deluded about food. Try pointing out the relative rates of pretty much every type of cancer in vegans and vegetarians vs meat eaters (Clue - vegans are by far the lowest). Or heart disease. Or...well...pretty much anything fatal, really.

    I know how you feel! I don't understand why many people find it so hard to accept our choice of food. It's not just the questions about nutrition and health, but it often turns into endless discussions about animal rights, farming, economics, politics, pollution, ethics, genetics, evolution etc. etc. And you better have a good answer for everything! No wonder we become a little militant sometimes :laugh:

    I'm out here too! I've been a veggie for a year and a half and will never go back. I live in one of the most veggie un-friendly states; Wyoming, so it's hard to find like minded friends. Feel free to add me :)
