  • I am late to the party but I like the idea of a weekly weigh in. I typically weigh in on Friday mornings but Thursday works for me too!! I just hate Monday morning weigh ins since my weekends are always a challenge.
  • Hello from windy Oklahoma. Just found this group and hope to be encouraged as well as encourage others in this journey. I have recently entered the land of doom known and pre-menapause and I am not liking it at all. Ten years ago I set out to get myself in shape and managed to lose 60 lbs and felt great. I was active and…
  • Frustrated and determined. I know that menopause is making this journey an uphill battle and I am determined to fight back. Sadly I have created a bigger obstacle for myself by gaining back the 50 pounds I lost 8 years ago. So here we go again. I know what I did then but somehow don't have the same drive to do it again. I…
  • I have 50 pounds to loose again. With kids grown and gone and only ONE YEAR between me and the big 5-0 there is nothing stopping me but ME and that seems to be the biggest problem. Hoping to find like minded moms to motivate and inspire me to find the mo-jo to get back to my "want to" when it comes to diet and exercise.
  • Agreed! I am on week six of Jamie Eason's Live Fit 12 week trainer and I love it even though I have had to modify some due to lack of exercise equipment available. I did not take measurements when I started but I am noticing my clothes fit better even though the scale seems to be broken. :( I will see how the next six…
  • And because avoiding soda would be a horrible nutritional deficit? Don't see avoiding artificial sweeteners as detrimental to our health. This is insignificant in the real scheme of things. IMO it sounds more like you are trying to persuade those that disagree in regards to aspartame. It sounds to me like the waste is in…
  • Exactly. Why risk it? Healthy living is about choosing wisely. Making good choices for your overall health. AND why in the heck does it even matter. If you prefer not to use those artificial products for WHATEVER reason more power to you. and if you do use them well.... best of luck..... for your sake, I hope you are right.
  • Sometimes when he say's "do you know how much I love you?" I say "apparently not so much that you want to be around for a long time" We both know I love to work out and he doesn't. So every now and then he needs reminding that he NEEDS to be exercising whether he loves it or not. He doesn't have much choice in the eating…
  • JUST WAIT. Keep working on it and you will surpass his level of fitness. Because he will be broken. My hubby was also infantry, now retired. I started running about five years ago and he would run with me. NEVER did I ever think we would run together. Then his old army life started catching up with him and all those ruck…
  • ^^ THIS ^^ Fruit is a great source of the carbs you need for energy and it's a whole food which is better for you than say a biscuit. I eat fruit in my smoothie every morning (spinach, almond milk, greek yogurt and fruit), and fruit every afternoon with cottage cheese before my workouts. AND it makes a great choice for…

  • My thoughts exactly! DON'T listen to the nay-sayers. When I began my weight loss journey many years ago it was a slow process of clean eating. Target your five-nine fruits and vegetables (whole not juiced) more vegetables than fruits, only use whole grains and do so sparingly and lean protein. It's really not that hard.…
  • Green smoothie is another favorite of mine. 2c. spinach, about eight whole frozen strawberries, a frozen banana, 1 c. almond milk, 1/2 c. water, 1 scoop protein powder, and a handful of ice cubes. PULVERIZE THAT SUCKER and yumm-O! quote] Loving these breakfast ideas! I am a protein-in-the-morning kind of girl, too. Has…
  • If you are exercising at all you can increase your calorie intake. I have been on 1200 calories in the past and I always broke down my calories by meals so that breakfast was 400 cals and lunch and dinner were 300 calories with two 100 calorie snacks in between. But with exercise you can increase your overall calorie…
  • So True! My breakfast of choice is two poached eggs and one double fiber english muffin with one wedge of laughing cow cheese. 140+120+35= 285 calories and I have a winner for me. But then I am one of those that eats a morning snack about three hours after breakfast. Usually fruit and greek yogurt.
  • I normally work out in the afternoon after work so I usually eat 1/2 c. cottage cheese and fruit about forty minutes before I leave work. Seems to do the trick for me. If I am running in the morning I will sometimes eat 1/2 a banana with a tblsp of pb or almond butter about 30 min. before I run.
  • Perhaps your protein shake and one of the protein bars listed below. The Pumpkin protein bars Jamie Eason makes are only about 60 calories per square. Normally 2 squares are a snack but one square and a shake would give you the carbs and protein you need in the A.M. and she is right they are yummy! quote] Try making your…
  • I was wondering the same thing. .
  • The thing that has worked best for me is preparing meals in advance. On Sunday afternoon I make a vegetable quiche with whatever veggies I want/have/like and about 3 eggs and 6 egg whites. After this bakes and cools I cut it into 8 servings and store in my fridge. I usually eat one for breakfast and take one to work for an…
  • That is what I am working towards. Elementary School Teacher always on the go.
  • A cubicle would allow for a little more privacy over the fish bowl we work in. A glassed in office with three other people does allow for conversation but no privacy so those "workout at your desk" ideas are useless.
  • ^^ THIS ^^ It's Thursday........ but Sunday's a coming!!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YByT6wfdhJs
in Easter Comment by MsMaryMac48 April 2014
  • We have been doing this to save money. So far we are on our second week. Sunday's after church are the hardest day for me since I would much rather go out to lunch than have to cook lunch when I get home from church but so far so good. This week is Easter so that means a whole lot of cooking. :) As much as I enjoy eating…
  • Agreed, go to bodybuilding.com and it will allow you to search for an intermediate workout for your gender. Lots to choose from. (okay several).
  • Ok I gotta ask.... your photo on your tracker looks very much like one of our sorority photos. Is that a sorority photo?
  • My daughter (age 24) and I started it a few weeks ago. We are repeating weeks 1 and 2 just to help us get in the groove a little better. She has never been much of a gym rat. I am loving it but I must say I really miss my cardio. I was a runner and sustained an injury so this whole healing process is not fun. I am learning…
  • I follow Jamie Eason's 12 week trainer. It's a program I found on bodybuilding.com. There are LOTS of programs on their to choose from it just depends on what you are looking for. Check it out.
  • Where does one purchase trutein? I prefer to buy mine locally so hoping it is for sale at a local store. :)
  • I have wondered about this myself. I have found several recipes for things including protein powder but wondered if it would break it down during the cooking process. Oatmeal for instance, is is best to add the powder after it is cooked or before cooking? things to consider.
  • ME EITHER. I must not be going at the right time. I am normally there at least four nights a week and on Saturday morning. Can't believe I have missed this. :)
