  • I have to be able to stick with this way of eating for the rest of my life so it has to be based in reality. I know I can't go the rest of my life without enjoying treats so I've learned how to incorporate them daily. I think it's a very healthy and realistic mindset! (45 lbs down and at goal for over a year so far, for…
  • SO normal!! Things that have helped me are making sure to be busy after work (kids help! LOL!) and making sure I portion out things I eat when I get home just like when I'm packing my lunch and snacks for the workday. If I'm hungry while making dinner I measure out one serving of Popchips into a bowl and eat them slowly.…
  • I do Fitness Blender videos all the time and for 6 months or so I was wearing a BodyMedia Fit armband and getting fairly accurate calorie burns from it (based on my rate of weight loss). At about 170 lbs, 5'10" and female, I almost always hit right in the center of the projected calorie burn that the Fitness Blender team…
  • Has anyone ever tried making their own? I've done this a couple of times using the Melissa D'Arabian recipe and while it's not as low in fat or as thick as storebought (even strained through a yogurt strainer) I find the flavor very mild and it's very filling with some fruit and/or granola mixed in.
  • I obviously don't know about your living or family situation, if you prep food for more than just yourself or whatever, but I agree with many of the other posters that you'll feel much more relaxed if you start out with less food to begin with. If that means not bringing serving dishes to the table and filling plates in…
  • Nearly every method of weight loss requires tweaking for your personal metabolism and TDEE is no different. It requires a lot of patience, but like @DemoraFairy said above pick a number and give it several weeks before you decide it's too much, too little, or just right.
  • Hey baby, you got a hilarious avatar!! :zooms out of thread:
  • I think "shift" is a British-ism that equates to the American "lose". Not shift as in "move it around." If you're happy with your size and weight then I'd tell you to keep on with the exercise and be consistent and patient. Strength training could help.
  • We make disgruntled faces at people who heat up fish of any kind in the office microwave. Cold fish (lox, shrimp salad, tuna salad) is not a problem. If I know I have to eat at my desk that day I bring in a sandwich, nothing that requires heating. I just think it's good manners to keep food with strong odors in the…
  • If I know I'm not really in need of food and my tummy is driving me nuts, sometimes unsweetened green tea will take the edge off. Decaf, if it's later in the day. Something about it is less tea-like, almost broth-like, and it helps. Not like actually eating a snack or meal, but just to hold off until dinner.
  • Packing my lunch and snacks every day was one of the two best permanent changes I made when I started MFP (regular exercise was the other). My routine is one morning snack and one afternoon snacks, around 100-200 cals each. Today I cut an apple in half, used a melon baller to scoop out the centers, and filled each side…
  • Can I sneak in a pie? Made using a recipe from the excellent "How to Cook That" YouTube channel, it's butter cookie crust filled with vanilla cream and topped with fresh cherries. I could eat that for DAYS.

  • Zombies. Also, "Only three more hills on this route...only two more hills on this route...this is the last hill, come on lift those knees baby..."
  • Beautiful! Very very impressive. I hear wonderful things about once-a-month cooking too but I don't have the freezer space or the energy to try it. I'm always impressed by those who are super organized like this! Funny some people mention age: I'm 46 and the mom of 2 teenagers and I just finally, finally got into the habit…
  • It's what you do, not how you look, that will show people you're serious. :) I agree with the poster that said you should already have a plan together using any of those resources posted. I hear wonderful things about all of them (I'm talking a little out of my butt here because I work out at home). I'm sure if you know…
  • HIIT? (get it, hit...never mind)
  • The secret isn't perfection, the secret is never to give up! You are WELL on your way! Great job.
  • It works if you do. :) Good luck, you can do it!
  • I work out five or six mornings a week. In the winter it's a Fitness Blender video every morning (they vary from strength to cardio to HIIT to Pilates). Once it warms up enough it's a strength/crosstraining video every MWF, and running every TThSat. Sometimes I take the entire weekend off, depending on how I feel. Exercise…
  • Just remember exercise is for fitness, managing your intake is for weight loss. So focus on your logging if the scale is your main concern. I find logging my entire day either the night before or first thing in the morning makes it a lot easier to do and to stick to. It's almost like writing it down is "setting it in…
  • See a doctor, sounds like a gall bladder attack to me. Mine were right along the bottom of my rib cage where my diaphragm is, and they were AWFUL.
  • Betcha wish you'd picked a different user name! You are looking BEAUTIFUL and you have the right attitude to keep going to your goal.
  • I'm pretty sure it's not ALL from your browser though. I've been getting a lot of ads in Spanish for some bizarre reason, and all I know in that language are some food words and "Where is the library." I guess if I get into that stereotypical predicament where I need a bathroom in a Spanish-speaking country I'll just hunt…
  • Instead of worrying that the weight loss will slow down, come to terms with the fact that it WILL and it SHOULD, and make plans for how to deal with it when it happens. Much more productive than stressing out about it. It's a long game, but you can succeed at it with the right plans and mindset.
  • I wore a Body Media Fit band for about 6 months last year, and every time I did a Fitness Blender video it put me smack in the middle of the estimated burn. Now that I no longer wear the band I keep estimating the middle number (my 8th grader informs me that it's called the "mean," thank you very much) and that seems to…
  • Start simple. So many of these big Food TV stars have been making shows for so many years, they're running out of ideas and making these recipes with crazy ingredients and combinations. My favorite cookbook to this day is the very first one Rachael Ray came out with when she looked like she was about 17 years old. Easy,…
  • My love for Cadbury Mini Eggs is gradually being surpassed by my love for the new M&M Peanut Butter Eggs. I'm a PB M&M addict but the eggs are just better, somehow!
  • Pre-breakfast is the only time that I can workout consistently, I don't even care about fasted or non-fasted benefits. I either exercise then or not at all. If I noticed muscle loss I'd just increase my protein to try and head it off at the pass rather than change my routine.
  • I feel so fortunate, my only run-in while running was with a nest of wasps. They sent a warning shot in the form of one little sucker that got me good on the back of the arm. Once I realized the nest was on a branch hanging over the street I made sure to cross the road before I got to that spot from then on. Thought about…
