  • In the past my reason for failure is also my lack of commitment. I wanted a quick fix to my weight problem and when I didn't see the weight coming off quickly, I gave up. I also associated dieting with starving. Why bother to starve myself when the weight wasn't coming off... I was only kidding myself. I was not being…
  • Feel free to add me. Always looking for new friends who understand the struggle. :drinker:
  • I have T2 diabetes and have been to see a nutritionist since I really didn't know how to eat properly either. To break it down to basics, read labels. She told me I should have between 30-45 grams of carbs per meal. Stay with green vegetables and protein. White fish (haddock, cod, talapia, tuna etc... are good as well as…
  • Don't be nervous. I am new to MFP (only a couple of weeks) and I have already found some very nice, understanding and supportive people on here. I did the foster parent thing for a while. Had 2 adorable little boys (brothers) for about a year and I was devastated when they had to leave to go back to their parents. I…
  • Thanks for the tip! Didn't know you could do that.
  • 5'-5" as well. Feel free to add me!
  • I looked around and found Glucose Buddy was the best I could find. It's pretty handy, but the graphs leave a lot to be desired. You need a microscope to see them. I'd be interested if anyone else has another app that they like.
  • I was diagnosed a few weeks ago... and I'm in my mid 50's. My father had diabetes and had quite a hard time with the disease. He went blind, lost his right foot and was insulin dependent for as long as I can remember. He eventually died from complications due to his illness. I figured I'd better get my blood sugar under…
  • I asked my nutritionist about the Atkins diet. Be careful! Although it is low carb, it compensates by being high in fat. If you happen to buy their frozen dinners, you will notice the carbs are low, but the fat content and sodium are very high. Just a word of caution.
  • I'm from Plymouth... always looking to share ideas / thoughts with others. Add me if interested.
  • Hi Em, I am new to this group as well. I think I am still in denial because other than the doctor telling me I have diabetes, I feel fine. I think if I felt sick I would better accept the diabetes. My father was a diabetic and lost his eyesight as well as a foot from the disease. I remember when he was diagnosed, he did…
  • 149 this morning. Sloooowly going down.
  • Thanks for the tips. I have recently started seeing a CDE (Certified Diabetic Educator) and she is guiding me along as to how many carbs I can have and when to have them, etc. I know I need to exercise, but if I throw too much at myself all at once I will get frustrated and give up. So I'm starting with the life style…
