  • I just tried changing the protein values in my plan to 55%, with a concurrent decrease in carbs. I don't dare try that diet - I might never go the toilet again! It resembles an Atkins diet in many ways. Anyone else out there in the ether willing to give it a go?
  • Rusty740: That looks interesting. It looks like a low calorie, high protein and low carb diet is worth a try. It said that cooked goitrogenic leaves like kale, stopped being goitrogenic too. I am sorry lettuce is a goitrogen, I did not know that. And whats with eggs?
  • I have Hashimotos too, and I agree that taking it gently with the dieting is essential. I seem to be prone to low blood sugar exhaustion and feel dreadful when I am in the process of losing weight, even when it is only 1lb per week! In the past I have become anaemic whilst dieting, even although I only aim for this small…
  • I am a bit disappointed. I have been working at walking and feeding my livestock for 3 or 4 hours a day for the last week, as my husband has been away (he usually does this work). So I added calories back on my weight loss regime, for the time spent working. My weight actually went up this week, not down as i would have…
  • I'm a freak. Will I do?
  • I am on weight loss 0.5kg per week. I take 30 to 40g oats muesli each morning for breakfast. Its fine.

  • I am not really into my first 2 weeks ever of dieting. I AM 57. I have got to the place classed as Not Overweight in the past. Then put it all back on in 8 weeks. Or in 8 months. I feel like a member of AA. If I take a chocolate I am compelled to eat the lot. It really works for me keeping chocolate out of my life. I dont…
  • Dear Lissmayer, trapping mice or rats for that matter with chocolate, could be quite theraputic. It would involve walking, would not involve any eating as dirty fingers would preclude that, and chocolate is agreat rodent bait. Last winter mice ate the air pipes in the brakes of my car, causing accute brake failure. I say…
  • Now cheese or cherries! Mmmmm. But suppose there , ust not have been a cheese or cherry shop on the way home from work.... Grrrrr
  • From my past experience, keep the damn chocolates out of the house. I dont care for that silly advice about having one every now and again. Stale chocolate is grey and yuck.
  • Thanks everyone for the sympathy. I could have secretly used them for baiting mouse traps I guess.
  • Think thats what happened to me this afternoon after eating a late, fast and too small lunch. By the end of the day I was 200cal over planned, due to the snacks. And my head aches vaguely too. Yes its hard.
  • I find myself dreaming disturbing dreams set in my adolescence, and on waking, I find myself trying to make sense of them. If drop those after-dream thoughts, which probably have too few facts to make any accurate sense out of, and too many people are dead to ask the facts. Will I be able too? Also, the things that spring…
  • Going back to the beginning of this discussion, I trained as a ruminant nutritionist in the 1980s. Back then, there was tremendous interest in gut microflora in cattle and sheep. The general ecology of the gut was highly correllated with diet, and if there was one thing I learned, it was make any changes to the diet…
  • I have it too. I regularly lose wight using this app to help restrict my calorie intake, but so far it always creeps back on when I sop dieting. I suppose that is because taking thyroxine by tablet to remedy a diminishing but fluctuating bodily output, is not accurate enough. I am left feeling weak at times, hence the…
  • Might it be that you ARE reducing your fat, but are gaining an equal amount of muscle. This would be a very healthy situation. If so well done you. I would love to have better muscle tone and less flab.
