Is nobody else aware that "Fat Amys" real name in Pitch Perfect is "Fat Patricia"? as in FattyPatty. Just putting that out there.
-
Uhhh. Why are girls saying that they're eating 600 calories lying? Fairly sure I ate under that on and off for years, I also had anorexia but your comment made it sound like it can't be done.
-
Oh I am planning to increase, I honestly have the meal plan already written up, but I was planning to do it 200 calories a week. I just meant a day at maintenance BEFORE that.
-
I understand that, I really do, but I want to get back on track and not do anymore damage, so I really need advice about whether a day at maintenance (and going out for dinner) would be okay. I am trying to fight this and don't have access to a dr today so just want to know that I haven't screwed up my metabolism in a…
-
I didn't even ask the same question? I am just asking if a higher day today will spread out and make up for the last few days or pointless.
-
Periods normally have something to do with body fat, I'd say that the fact you are close to being underweight has something to do with this.
-
I HIGHLY doubt that your maintenance is 1470 if eating 1200 calories has resulted in 4 pounds in a month.
-
Umm what the? Your worst "bad" day was 1600 calories and the other two were still massive deficits. Your "under" calories were 800 for Gods sake. If you eat a healthy amount with an alright deficit you won't feel like you're losing control when you go over by a few hundred.
-
OP was talking about 1200-1500 calories, not 700 and a clearly disordered eating habit.

2 years ago I did the c25k, fast forward to now where I run 35-40 miles a week, can comfortably run 15 miles and I actually cannot remember the last time that I 'only' ran 5k.
-
2 things. 1) If you are going to gym you should be eating a lot more than 1200 calories. 2)What you're suggesting is the TDEE method which factors in exercise AND lifestyle.
-
I feel like all of these numbers are wrong.
-
The difference is that the TDEE calculation is including your exercise and the MFP one isn't, so when you work out you would eat more than 1400 calories anyway.
-
Yeah...No. Negative calories means that your body has NOTHING to keep up its usual functions, so yeah it may be a bigger def but it also means your body will eat your muscle to get energy, so as long as you're cool with that then keep doing what you're doing, but maybe don't make suggestions like that to others.
-
Long answer: Depends really. Depends if you want to be healthy or want to lose weight really quickly which is mostly muscle. Do you want to have energy? Be able to continue your work outs? If so then you should definitely eat back your calories. MFP has already set you at a deficit, exercise is on TOP of that, so…

Can I just say that I NEVER lose weight when running. Ever. Also I seem to look less toned. My dietitian and doctor both said that it's that long distance running seems to break down muscle and you hold more fat reserves because your body is going into fight or flight mode, it doesn't know if you're running from danger. I…

It's not just vanity...it's unhealthy. It will put you in the UNDERWEIGHT category.

100g of raw cous cous is DEFINITELY more than 147 calories, I'd say that they've packaged wrong. I have cous cous multiple times a week and have used various brands and know that 50g raw is normally around 170-180....so pretty much you're consuming much more than you think you are.
-
anyone?
-
I had been running 35 miles for a year now so the running isn't whats concerning me. Mostly I just want to know whether the few weeks means I should up my intake slowly or if my body will be fine just returning to my old meal plan straight away.
-
Thank you, I do prefer the idea of TDEE than just eating sporadically, makes it a bit easier to plan ahead. Turns out I was undereating by a little bit so thank you everyone for your advice, I guess now is just a waiting game to see how my body reacts.
-
Also thank you to the replies, they definitely help, what I am trying to do though is have a more regular number than jumping up and down and having huge differences on days I train/don't train, which is I don't like just eating back the calories based on one day....does that make sense?

I did actually mention that I was trying to maintain, but I should have been more clear about that sorry, yes definitely trying to maintain my weight. I don't actually weigh myself to be honest so I cannot tell you what my weight is doing.
