  • It happened. But it doesn't define you or your journey. Tomorrow is a FRESH start. Start over and try to do better. Before you know it you'll be staying in your goals and rocking your weight loss plan. Out of curiosity, how much are you looking to lose and what is your current calorie goal set to?
  • Totally for it. I'm naked 95% of the time I'm home, including out and about in my backyard. One of my neighbors had a problem with it, so he built a super fence so he didn't have to see my body in all its glory. I wear clothes around non-familiar people and in public out of respect for others. Thankfully my robe covers me…
  • QFT Spices are your friends, they can highlight flavor, and add a delicious and enticing undertones to your meal. And EVERYONE has burned themselves or hurt themselves in the kitchen. I've burned my fingers, palms, splashed bacon grease on my belly, bumped into the hot oven with my thigh, sliced my fingers more times than…
  • From what I've heard from my preggo friends on MFP, the extra calories needed doesn't start until late 2nd and 3rd trimester. I plan to be in your shoes in a few years, and I figure, I can eat at a reasonable deficit (mine at the moment is 500 cal deficit a day to lose 1 lb a week) but once I have my possible home test, I…
  • I think respect, politeness, and courtesy should be extended to ALL individuals, regardless of age, gender, etc. I hold doors for many individuals, while smiling and being gracious. My husband holds doors for me, and then I for him. If I could FIT into my husband's jackets, I'm sure he would give me his jacket if I were…
  • I have a hula hoop just for fun and I have YET to keep it up. OMG! I don't remember it being this hard as a kid. ....In for technique tips.
  • Golden Retrievers for me!!
  • When I first started eating larger quantities of fruits and vegetables, there was a tale of woe to be told! I had MAJOR gastrointestinal distress. We're talking "you better not leave your house" type distress. But after a few days, the problems resolved themselves. My one suggestion is to make sure you're drinking a decent…
  • If I was ever in that situation (thinking I'm in my house, as per the original story) a swift (maybe repeated) knock on the head with my skillet/frying pan is my go-to defense. Grab phone cell phone, and run to a neighbors house.
  • I think it's going to take time, patience, and COMPASSION from you to wait out the storm. Everything feels very rushed. You and your boyfriend dated for a year, moved in, and now ~4 months later you've become engaged and are set to be married in a few years on the day before the anniversary of your…
  • You can try resetting your goals. If I'm doing my math right, you theoretically could eat around XXXXX calories a day and still lose ~1 lb a week. From your post I garnered that you are losing 5 lbs every 7 days. 5 lbs * 3500 calories per lb = 17500 caloric deficit a week / 7 days a week = 2500 calorie deficit per day. If…
  • Op - How many reps are in your set? I've just starting researching weight lifting (heavy lifts, to be specific), and if you follow the Stronglifts 5x5 program, it's 5 sets of 5 reps each. You have a rest period between each set. P.S. You don't look like a girl. You look fantastic! Great results and you should be super…
  • Maybe I'm nitpicking, but they took SEDENTARY individuals. Perhaps these individuals were not physically capable of reaching and holding moderate or vigorous exercise. Maybe it's just me, but when I walk my puppy, I'm going ~3 mph, and I come home out of breath, sweating, and red. To me that is moderate. I am incapable of…
  • I'm thinking my chain is getting pulled. I don't understand why the concept is so hard to grasp. If I throw 10 raw ingredients in a pan, I build a recipe w/ the 10 ingredients logged as raw since they were when I weighed them. TA DA! It tells me how many calories are in the pan (whether the ingredients are raw or cooked!).…
  • The reason so many weigh their foods and are advocates of it, is because weight is an unbiased measurement. Serving size is arbitrary. What is one slice of pizza? What is a medium apple? But if you know what 132g of pizza = x, then when you get a serving that is 250g, you can figure out the TRUE x (calories).
  • If you didn't WEIGH it cooked, don't log it cooked. If It was raw when you weighed it, log it as RAW.
  • Log the individual ingredients in the recipe builder, as they were BEFORE you cooked everything together. Then since you know the weight of the final product, I would divide that weight by the number of servings, and figure out how much of a 'serving' you ate when you consumed your portion of it. ETA: ML =/= ALWAYS equal…
  • You log it and move on. Each minute of each day we are faced with choices to make. So make better choices starting now. :)
  • Sounds like getting a trainer is a good idea at least for the first bit. How will I know they know their stuff? I may not start lifting right away. Acquiring the equipment is expensive. I joined a gym before but found it just wan't my speed. I prefer to walk w/ my dog, and the boys in the weight area just flat out…
  • Thanks for all the help! Do you think just a barbell set would be OK to start? Or do I need the bench and the rack?
  • I got pregnant around 225-250 lbs. My husband and I haven't been trying since then. I don't plan on trying again until I'm under 200 lbs. If you haven't gotten pregnant in a year, especially with sex so frequently, I would suggest you BOTH go to a fertility doctor and get checked up.
  • I haven't had that surgery, but I did have a gnarly jaw surgery in March. I was severely restricted in diet (liquids only, oh joy!) and I dropped a lot of weight. BUT I imagine with all the swelling going on, most people will show a weight gain post-op.
  • I have PCOS. I was diagnosed about a year ago. I suspected for a couple years, but I've had the symptoms for MANY MANY years. I have many PCOS "Cysters" as friends here on MFP and our goals varying GREATLY. Some girls do better with low-carb. Some girls do better with a bigger caloric deficit. I've stuck with MFP defaults…
  • This was me almost exactly! I flew about two years ago, ish. And I was with my brother who is a similar size. I had to get an extender but no extra seat needed and the other passenger wasn't inconvenience or put upon AT ALL. :)
  • Well, caloric intake is very personal to the person. For instance, my caloric needs as a 318 lb, 27 year old woman would vary greatly from a 77 year old. So what works for me, may not (most likely will not) work for you.
  • PCOS stands for PolyCystic Ovarian Syndrome. It comes about when a woman's hormones are out of whack, causing her mature eggs to NOT be released from a follicle, resulting in a cyst on the ovary (each time). Women affected with PCOS tend to gain weight faster, lose weight slower, deal with some irritating side effects…
  • When you upped your calorie goal, did you also change the way you were logging? If you went from eyeballing portions, etc to measuring with cups, you might have been at the SAME caloric intake as before. In my honest opinion, whenever someone plateaus, the first step in figuring out the problem is to map out the intake as…
  • I'm sorry you're going through that. Anniversary/birthdays/etc can be hard. My father passed away 10 months ago today. I don't know what I'll be like on the anniversary of his death, and it's not something that just turns itself off. Regardless of how today goes, just make sure you pick yourself up tomorrow and move on. I…
  • If this was ME, I would cut my daily calorie goal by 100 calories and try that for a month. And/or not eat back ALL of my exercise calories, if you are doing that. Re-evaluate the plan after a month. If you're STILL not losing weight, cut calories back AGAIN by 100 (so we're down by 200 from the original goal). Rinse and…
