Always go for it!!! Forget about your time and just finish it. Trust me it feels great. Then after your first 5k your next will be shooting to improve. Walk if you need to. My first 5k my time was terrible but crossing that finish line I didn't care. I made it. It gives you something to build on.

I agree- don't be too restrictive at first because you will feel deprived and just fall of the wagon. There are a lot of great websites for healthy recipes- Eatingwell.com Skinnytaste.com - those are two of my favorites.

I have had long hair my entire life. My hair is pretty thick and my mother alittle sadistic... At the gym I use my iPod. I need to get into my head and push myself. The shows on tv just don't do it for me. I end up counting every second of pain. The cooking channel I completely don't understand itsn't it counter productive? To leave the gym wanting a cup cake? Maybe it's a tactic to stay in business.
