  • 150poundsofme, yes, I do still get the urge to eat things I shouldn't. Eventually, though, either I'm very nauseated from all the fat, or my blood sugar drops after very carb-y things, like even Frosted Mini Wheats Mini Bites Cereal. Unfortunately, right after my surgery my brother, who lived with us, was diagnosed with…
  • Me too! Started at 250 (I'm 5'2" and was 53 at the time). Made it down to 165 but now I'm hanging at 185. Gotta do it!
  • Hi, Monique. My name is Theresa and I'm right there with you.
  • Hi from Missouri
  • Hi all! I'm Theresa; new to this thread, but been around since November 2013 when I had a gastric bypass. I started at 250; got down to 162 before TMJ Disease finally got me for real. Had to switch to a near-liquid diet about 5 months ago, then had my old joints removed and replaced with titanium ones in May, and while…
  • By the way, you can always try using the sugar-free coffee flavorings in your protein shakes. Sure, they were made for coffee, but they're also awesome in protein shakes and have no sugar or fat.
  • I do put mine in my morning coffee, but I've also used it quite successfully in sugar-free, fat-free pudding. Muscle Milk's web page might have a recipe section, otherwise I use Unjury and they have great recipes. You might have to adapt the Muscle Milk a bit for the recipes, but at least they'd get you started and you can…
  • The worst possible thing for your gallbladder is yo-yo dieting - taking weight off and then regaining it. Beyond that, being an RN, I can tell you that doctors look at 4 "F's" of gall bladder disease: female, fertile, fat, and forty-ish. And yes, I was pretty much right in that range when mine had to go. :)
  • Have you ever been checked to see if you have a stricture/narrowing of your gastric stoma? If you're relying on slider foods and having that much of a problem with meats, maybe you should see a GI specialist if your original surgeon isn't available. You've come incredibly far if you're only 44 pounds from your goal weight…
  • Emj30135, I would see if there's a Weight Loss Institute in your area. I'm fortunate that I live in a major metro area, and a MBSAQIP certified Bariatric Program is readily available. I chose to go the non-surgical (diet and exercise) route two years ago, and when my life circumstances changed I went for a gastric bypass…
  • Protein is 4 cal/gm, carbs are 9 cal/gm. So it actually totals up to be more like 650 calories. I've had a gastric bypass, so yes, I'm averaging 650-750 cal/day. My challenge, and the reason for my questions, is that if I don't get around 45gm of carbs per day, I start feeling pretty weak and woozy pretty fast when I get…
  • Hi shalonthomas, are you getting the approximately 60gm of protein we're supposed to get per day? And yes, the multivitamin will help, as will the calcium and B-12. Me, I *hate* the multivitamin, so I swallow it whole even though it's chewable. I take Tegretol for nerve pain so I have to have something in my stomach when I…
  • Hi! My name is Theresa and I had a lap RNY bypass on 11/5/13. And yes, after losing about 35 pounds I seem to be hitting a wall also. I just saw the NP at my doctor's office last week, and she wants me to be eating 3 meals and 2 snacks within a week or two, but it's just not happening. I get my 60gm of protein by putting…
  • Hi! I just had a RNY bypass on 11/5/13 so I'm definitely a newbie, but I wanted to see who else is out there and this seems like a good place to start.
