  • I did P90X twice, and it was good. Not enough cardio though (the only good cardio workout it has is Plyo X) I've never done Insanity -but it's a very intense cardio program. I'm doing a hybrid now of Turbo Fire (if you love HIIT, you'll love this) and Chalean Extreme - I do strength training three days a week, cardio…
  • Unfortunately, these types of HRM aren't meant to monitor this type of burn. They are really for "exericise" burn only. I have a Polar FT4, i entered the data requested (age, sex, weight, etc) and i start my monitor when i start my workout. It has a chest strap (that goes under the bottom band of my sports bra - i don't…
  • I'm doing a hybrid of Chalean Extreme and TurboFire. Getting more results than with P90X.
  • This is actually bad information. Your body literally gets addicted to laxatives. Your bowel stops contracting like it does normally. For some people, having 3bm/day is normal, for others, going twice a week is normal - there's no set frequency of normal. If you recently started only going 1-2tims a week (after having more…
  • I haven't had a gym membership in 10y. I do DVDs (P90X, TurboFire,CHalean Extreme) and I run (treadmill at home or outdoors). I am more fit now than prekids and when I had a gym membership.
  • Hello. My name is Michelle, I'm 38 and mother of two girls - 5y and almost 8yo daughters, married to a wonderful man who is very supportive of my madness for exercise. I've been working out for years (after many, many years of being overweight/obese). I started Chalean Extreme nearly 7wks ago, I loved the TurboFire…
  • I can't "just lift". I have to be in a class or using a video. I've done P90X and current doing Chalean Extreme (which I prefer, using heavier weights, shorter workout, getting results). If I had to just lift weights at the gym, I don't think I would stick with it.
  • Very interesting. I've heard of "the olivia method" referred to here and there, but never read about it. According to what I've gleaned from this post and BMR, I'm eating too little most days. Hard to believe I need to eat more to lose weight (been on here for 1y and have only lost 5lbs, aiming for at least 10 total). This…
  • Hello, my name is Michelle, I'm 38 and mother of 2 awesome girls (5y, 8y). I really enjoy exercising, and am convinced that if I could only do better with my diet, i'd have the body of my dreams (thighs I'm not embarrassed about!). I am currently doing a Chalean Extreme/ Turbofire hybrid (wk 6 of CE and wk 2 of TF). I'm…
  • I'm doing a Chalean Extreme (wk 6) and Turbofire (just starting my 2nd week) hybrid. Love both of the programs. I don't do the stretch videos, I am fairly flexible and find the stretching w/ each workout is enough.
  • Chalean Extreme/Turbofire Hybrid, plus running one day a week (don't want to stop that all together) Had been doing P90X lean and P90X+, liking my new regimen much better!
  • Depends. I cannot exercise if I've just eaten, makes me nauseous and lethargic. I do better on an empty stomach. Do what makes your body happy. It'll let you know!
  • YOu are eating a very high sodium diet, not good for health or weight loss. I'd try to avoid the processed stuff (lean cuisines, canned soups) in favor of fresher foods. The sodium limit is one I really respect on MFP, more than any other, really! There are a lot of potential health consequences of a high sodium diet, and…
  • Unless you have an incredibly ssmal flame, your weight sounds perfect. I'd focus less on the scale an dmore on increasing your fitness, muscle.
  • No realistic choice for me, I have to workout at home (or i"d miss a lot of evenings with my kids and husband, plus just motivating myself to go there after feeding them dinner after a long work day). So, I work out at home. Have been doing so for 8y now (since oldest was born essentially). I use exercise DVDs and bought a…
  • I don't know if the chest strap might be larger for the men (or the watch itself). Regardless of the watch, you program it based on your height, weight, age. You can get a FT4 off AMazon for less than $60 (women's version). I love mine.
  • I'm really noticing the scale is probably the worst indicator of fitness and weight loss (fat). It's frustrating for sure! My weight fluctuates by 3lbs a week (I'm only 5'3" so 3lb is not insignificant). I'm doing a strength program (Chalean extreme), cardio (Turbo Fire and running once a week) and I thought the scale…
  • I really loved the Tufts 10K for Women (it's in October, I think).
  • i have seen patients put themselves into acute hepatiits from overdosing on Vitamin A. As someone else mentioned, you CAN overdose on fat soluble vitamins. Just because something is "good' for you doens't mean more is even better.
  • MFP protein "goals" are far too low, especially if you are exercising (esp weight training at all). GOing over on protein is a good thing, imo!!! Protein helps repair and build muscles, keeps you feeling satisfied longer.
  • THis might sound dumb, but where do you get a replacement battery? I bought the "unit" off AMazon.
  • We are not renting a car. We are staying on Disney property and don't have any plans to leave. Honestly, I'm not going to Disney with my kids to go shopping (I can do that at home). While I could check out the DVD player thing, I'm assuming we're going to be walking a lot and I am not going to travel with my weights, etc…
  • Going in one month (from today!) and have the same plan (and have a reservation each day for some type of sit down restaurant, a couple w/ characters). Still planning on eating b'fast in our hotel (hope to use a grocery delivery service to have cereal, milk, cereal bars, fruit, etc, plus snacks to pack for hte day). Trying…
  • Target (C9 line), Old Navy (love their compression pants) and TJ Maxx (for sports bras usually, and tees).
  • I have never known a place to allow for this to happen. They put age limits on the children's menu. ANd honestly, most children's menus aren't very healthy (think hot dogs, chicken fingers, etc).
  • It seems that when people talking about gaining muscle (speaking in terms of when a woman says this), people give advice as if they were a many looking to bulk up and get huge. I doubt OP is trying to do this. I do think you can increase muscle strength, endurance, tone and lose weight. If it weren't possible, than P90X,…
  • Have you taken measurements? How are your clothes fitting? The scale isn't the be-all, end-all (althougH I know it's frustrating when the number doesn't move!).
  • I think it's based on pace. <6mph=jogging, >6mph=running I could be off on the #...
  • My point is the OP is young, and given that she just gave birth, cannot expect her body to be perky and taut. But because she's young, it is quite likely that with a little time, her body will return to it's prepregnancy state (perkier boobs, flatter stomach). Exercise and eating right will certainly help that. Surgery…
