  • High school English teacher here! First year, and the stress is awful!!
  • Negatives: Trying to buy clothes that are meant for 5'4" women when I am 6'1". Old Navy has a tall section online for women, which is AWESOME! Having a boyfriend that is shorter than me. Always being told that I'm "really tall" Having to duck down to be in conversations with a group of your girl friends. Dresses that are…
  • Height is huge for me. I'm 6'1" and I need a guy who can keep up with that! A nice smile would be the next most important thing for me
  • 6'1" here! I love being a tall girl, even if that does mean having to get all my clothes special ordered. And tall guys are HOT!!!
  • My new favorite way is steamed with a little bit of salt. The steaming helps break down the bitter taste and rough texture, but it only takes a couple minutes, don't steam it too long. I used to try to eat it raw in a salad, but the bitter aftertaste was too much. I prefer it now as a warm side dish. :)

  • I'm also 23, 6'1" and my heaviest was 310. Currently at 260, looking to get down to 180. No tattoos, but not because I don't like them, more because I'm too fickle to ever commit to anything for the rest of my life. I too went through extremes when it came to calorie counting, but I've been doing better. My diary is open…
  • I have internal panic attacks (like, not just nerves, but legit panic attacks) before going on a new amusement park ride. I was in line for the Excellerator at Knott's Berry Farm in California, and watched multiple plus sized girls get told they were too big for the ride. I was wiping away tears as I got on it, but…
  • Yep! I'm 6'1"... which is freakishly tall for a girl, in my opinion. I have literally gotten stares from little old ladies in grocery stores, and conversations with new people start with "you're tall!" on a regular basis... I don't recommend being a 6'1" female, it's no fun. Haha
  • I'm doing the turbo plan. I lost 9 pounds the first week, and gained .3 the second. It was towards the end of my TOM when I weighed in for the second week, so I'm hoping my next weigh in is better. It was VERY discouraging to eat such a restricted diet and exercising every day and to gain weight. I'm going to give it…
  • I'm towards the end of week two. I'm bumming because I did so well and lost 9 pounds my first week, but gained 2 back the second week. I know it's all water weight, and being on my period this week was a big factor in that, but there's something mental that happens when you literally eat perfectly for a whole week, at…
  • I take my inspiration from Chris Powell. He talks about building yourself up by making tiny little promises every day to yourself and keeping them. Start ridiculously small, for me I started with not letting myself eat anything at work that I didn't pack myself (we have a cafe at work, and the manager orders pizza for us…
  • Hello everyone! My name is Danielle, I'm 23 and a high school English teacher. I love to hike and play golf, both of which are activities that are near impossible to do in Arizona during summer. My heaviest weight was 310 my junior year of high school. I lost quite a bit, got down to 240, now back up to 260 which seems to…
  • Hi there! My overall journey is 100+. I'm down 50 from my heaviest, and am working now to lose 80 more. I'll send a FR. :)
  • MFP is a great place! Just remember to be true to yourself and your food tracking to see the results you want. I'll send a friend request :)
  • Congratulations! You started around my current weight, may I ask how tall you are?
  • I was vegan for a couple years but transitioned to vegetarianism while I'm carb cycling. I hope to transition back to vegan after I hit my goal weight. Feel free to add me, if you're cool with a vegetarian. :)
  • The plan I'm following (Chris Powell's carb cycling) allows for a reward day (1000 more calories than you generally have on a normal day) per week. I think having it is fantastic. It helps me to say no to temptation throughout the week, because I know I can always have it on Sunday. For me it's easier to have a day of not…
  • Just started last week and already seeing great results! Friend me if you need any support.
  • I find that smoothies are a great way to get a serving of veggies in without even realizing it. Here's my recipe: 1 scoop protein powder 1 cup of water or almond milk 1 cup of ice 1 cup of frozen mixed berries (Costco has a big bag for a decent price) 1 banana 2 cups of spinach (you can't even taste it, which is crazy! You…
  • I use the Sprouts brand Chocolate flavored Whey protein powder. I mix 1 scoop (90 calories) with 1 1/2 cups of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (60 calories) and it tastes just like chocolate milk. Recently I've been adding a tablespoon of PB2 (25 calories) to give it that desert taste of peanut butter and chocolate. It…
  • I have not read that book, but if you would like some supplemental material to keep you motivated, you should watch the documentary "Forks Over Knives". It's some great research in favor of the whole foods, plant based (vegan) diet. I was vegan for 2 years in hopes to lose weight, and I recently add egg whites for the…
