  • A calorie deficit is the only way to lose weight. If you are eating at a deficit, you will lose weight. How long have you been logging? If you have been logging for a long time and not losing, then you are eating too many calories. Do you weigh/measure everything? If not, you are probably eating more than you think. Can…
  • 9 pounds in 1 month is not slow. Since you only have 29 pounds to lose, 1 pound per week is a decent pace and you are losing much faster than that. You could probably eat more than 1300 and still lose at a good rate. And calories are the only thing that matters for weight loss. Macros are important for health though and…
  • OPs calorie goal might not be 1200. She should go by the one myfitnesspal gave her and weigh/measure to make sure she is eating the right amount. Depo is a hormonal birth control method. People often cite weight gain as a side effect.
  • It will tell you how many grams of carbs you are eating. To find out the calories, you would multiply that by 4. So, earlier you said you were eating 209 grams of carbs. 209 X 4=836. But most people just focus on the grams, which is what this app keeps track of. Eating too many carbs will not stall weight loss as long as…
  • A lot of people here do eat 1200 calories. I personally don't recommend it if you want to feel your best and have sustainable weight loss. When you put your information into myfitnesspal, what calorie goal does it give you for 1 pound per week? That should be a good starting point.
  • If you're 5'6", you should be able to eat more than 1115 to lose weight. I'm the same age as you and 5'5" losing on 1480 net calories for reference. Also, if you are eating 209 grams of carbs, you are getting 75% of your calories from carbs. That doesn't leave a lot of room for fat and protein. The American dietary…
  • I'm 5'5" 20 y/o and 135 pounds. I net 1480 for 1/2 pound per week loss. If I set it to 1 pound per week, I would have a calorie goal of 1230. So 1200 sounds about right for you if you're losing 1 pound per week. If that's not enough food for you, you could try 1/2 pound per week or exercising and eating back some of those…
  • Did you put your info into MyFitnessPal? It should have given you a calorie goal based on that. You shouldn't go below 1200.
  • If refined carbs and sugar trigger overeating, then could you try unrefined grains? How about brown rice? Also fruit is high in sugar but might not trigger overeating. It really is important to be eating some carbs to avoid ketosis.
  • I'm 5'5" and started at 180. I'm still pretty top heavy (much less so than before though!). I've lost about 45 pounds and dropped 4 bra sizes. Be prepared to be constantly buying new bras if you're like me! I don't have any really clear pictures, but here's a blurry one.
  • I have experience with social anxiety so I totally get what you're feeling. In my experience, the first time you do something out of your comfort zone is going to be the worst, and it will only get better the more often you do it. So if you were able to handle the gym today, I would say keep at it. Alternatively, I…
  • The Panache sports bras are really highly praised but I've never tried one because they're kind of expensive. I've been using the "Multi Sports Max Support" bra by Shock Absorber and it's very supportive. I got it on Amazon for about $35, but the price fluctuates. The Panache bra runs at about $68 on Amazon if you have a…
  • This is really useful as a comparison tool. I think there are many people that really appreciate you posting this despite all of the people who are telling you different. I know a lot of us expect to be a little more relaxed with calorie restrictions on holidays, but a little guidance helps those who feel anxious about…
  • I eat all of my calories back if I want them. If I'm not hungry, I don't force myself to eat, but I usually take advantage of most of the extra calories. I've been losing at nearly exactly what MFP predicts for about several months. I don't think MFP overestimates calorie burn nearly as much as some people think, but the…
  • Boobs are made up of fat, so if you are losing fat, you will almost certainly lose some there. For some people it will be barely noticeable, and for others it will be significant. I personally have lost a about cup size for every 10 pounds down, but I tend to carry a lot of weight in my boobs (that I've been happy to lose…
  • 19 here. I'm currently 145 lbs, but started at somewhere a little over 180. I would also like to get down to 130, so it looks like we have really similar goals.
  • There ARE good sports bras out there that will support big boobs. You don't have to wear two or do any other crazy boob-constricting tricks. I've heard great things about the Panache bra mentioned by several here, but it's pretty expensive. I personally use one by Shock Absorber (it's #4490, but they have others you can…
  • I'm majoring in Health and Human Physiology. I'm only in my 2nd year though, so I'm not an expert. I hope to be pretty knowledgeable by the time I get my degree. Also, the internet is also an invaluable tool if you know how to use it.
  • I net about 1600, but am fairly active so usually come in at a total of 2000+ calories. I've been steadily losing 5 pounds per month for about 7 months. For reference, I am a college student with a desk job (but I wait tables during summer part-time) and I weigh ~145 (started at 180).
  • This is bad advice for women who are pre-menopause age. Not menstruating as a young women can cause you to lose fertility and bone density and put you at risk for osteoporosis later in life. Adding to that, it can be a sign of an underlying health problem. I totally agree periods suck, though. I just want to make sure OP…
  • 5'5" SW: 180 CW: 150 GW: 130 My goal weight is definitely subject to change based on how I look/feel. Good luck on your goals everyone! So many of you in this thread are doing really great so far!
  • I've always had trouble with anxiety and running has helped more than anything else could. Just being alone and getting in the zone where all I am focusing on is running is the best feeling. I'd heard people say stuff like your post in the before I started, but I never believed them. Now I couldn't agree with you more.
  • I'm also a student and have mine set to lightly active because I wait tables during the summer and decided not to change it despite having a desk job during the school year. I'm still losing at about the same rate. I would suggest you try lightly active and if you find you aren't losing weight, change it to sedentary.
  • You shouldn't need to measure above your breasts. That measurement doesn't matter. Measure below. You said 31.5, so that means you should try a 32 band. Then measure around the largest part of your breasts and for every inch above your band size (32), add a cup. So if you measured 34, that would make you a 32 B, if you…
