  • Something else that really bugged me the other day was I burned 248 calories in steps, then took off my Fitbit so i could do water aerobics. I burned around 345 or so calories. When I added the non-step based aerobics, it wiped out all of my step calories. I was so irritated.
  • I hate it that it does that. I have over eaten because of it. Mine has done the same as yours. How in the world can you know how many calories you can eat by dinner time. I started just trying to stay within my 1200 calories, but not worry about going over a little bit. It seems to do it whether or not negative calories is…
  • Yes. Add all your ingredients to the recipe builder, decide how many/how much your servings are and MFP does the rest. Name it, save it and it's there all the time. When I have a meal with few ingredients that some of the ingredients change (like the type of bread in a sandwich,) I just add it to the Meals tab. Hope that…
  • I stopped putting cheese on sandwiches and in things, unless it's a strong cheese like blue or asiago, maybe swiss. So often I can't taste it, so feel like it's a waste. Most fast food and stopped drinking regular sodas. Once in a blue moon I will get diet if I go out, but most of the time I get unsweetened tea because I…
  • Two things that really do help me are low sugar hot chocolate and Sugar-free Werther's Caramels. I also get the chocolate ones when I can find them. Im going to try a protein shake with ice and almond milk to see if that would be a good thing for summer. I also keep the mix for the 3 2 1 microwave cake made up. If I really…
  • I like the microwave-in-the-bag green beans. Another thing I do is cook brussels sprouts and mix a tablespoon or two of hummus with them. Yummy, fiiling, and low calorie. I also use hummus in place of mayonnaise on sandwiches.
  • Thank you. I did re-read it and understood more :-)
  • Thank you for responding. I really appreciate it alot. And thanks for the hard work of putting all of that info together. I did try to read all of that before, but honestly, for me, it was information overload. I can't even find an exercise database for fitbit that is not coming from MFP. All I have found is run, walk,…
  • Make tacos with them, add them to soups and stews, add them to lasagna.
  • All I know is, if i have a plate with 3 store-bought reeses cups for 400 calories and a plate FULL of a low calorie alternative, that full plate is going to win Every. Single. Time. If it is CICO (which I wholeheartedly agree with), what harm is there in eating the plate full of the low-calorie alternative? I could be…
  • I had a cheat day today. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and a cup of tomato basil bisque. I was really sick the past 4 days and was craving fried food something fierce. I only went 172 calories over. I was thrilled :-)
  • I usually have: Banana, pb2, chocolate chips wrapped in a Joseph's flax/oat pita, or Homemade sausage egg mcmuffin, 175 calories, or Or 1/2 cup egg beaters, 3 slices Hormel pre-cooked bacon, a piece of toast I like keeping breakfast and lunch light, because I like to snack in the evenings.
  • That's great Sabrina! The more you do it, the better you will get. Sometimes I will go back through my diary and look and find meals or snacks that have satisfied me that day. I just discovered the "Food Notes". I think at the end of good days like that, I might add it to a note.
  • I have noticed that whenever I use MFP, I do the EXACT same thing as you do. I never do it any other time. But, for me personally, I look at it as a good thing. It makes me not only aware of calories, but my macros and what ingredients I am putting in my body. Plus, I just find it fascinating how much and what kinds of…
  • Sounds fantastic. Do you use canned coconut milk?
  • OMG!! Thank you so much for this post! I can hardly wait to make that fudge and the peanut butter dip on desserts with benefits. I LOVE sweets.
  • Cup of hot chocolate (90 calories for Swiss Miss Caramel Delight) or no-sugar added hot chocolate, 50 calories ; Werther's sugar free caramels. They work almost every time for me.
  • I don't worry much about having chicken or cooked veggies for 5 days. My refrigerator is so cold, if I keep it on the top shelf, it's been known to freeze a little.
  • Thanks. I love cabbage rolls.
  • Thank you. They sound delicious. Do you have any idea what the calories and serving size are?
  • I recently had some fantastic grilled asparagus at Outback. I actually preferred that over my steak. I was stunned. I do prefer asparagus over broccoli, though. Here in Florida, all I ever see is the pencil thin kind.
  • I wonder if it was the same video I saw? I usually do the same thing with the liquid as you do. That's what made me start weighing.
  • Definitely don't beat yourself about it. I know from my own personal experience that just makes me want to give up. So, sometimes I'll take an extra walk or do some kind of aerobics at home if I can. Makes me feel much better.
  • I grill portobellos in my grill pan (but sometimes outside). I put frozen spinach cooked with lots of garlic, top with feta and sun-dried tomatoes in oil. YUMM-O! I also make a killer mushroom Burgundy stew instead of beef. That's a Rachel Ray recipe. And it's pretty light in calories.
  • I've always been told sugar is sugar regardless if it is brown, white, honey or fruit. I can hardly know who to trust with some of this dietary info. I find it very frustrating.
  • I saw a video of the two different methods. I THINK it was in the MFP blog, but cannot swear to it. anyway, they had 5 or 6 people measure flour out by the cup. Every person came up with a different weight, even when they leveled it with a knife. Of course, when they measured it by weight, they always came out the same.…
  • The majority of the time my husband and I go by "If you bite it, write it. If you drink it, ink it." I'm not sure exactly where that came from, but I want to say Weight Watchers. However, I must confess, if we go out and I eat a big, honking dinner, I don't usually bother unless I can find it in MFP. I figure I blew it to…
  • Turkey sandwich with 1 tbsp homemade hummus, 1 tbsp light mayo, 1/2 cup greek potato salad and 6 marinated white asparagus. 345 calories.
  • It sounds marvelous! Thanks for sharing.
  • Sometimes I make a cup of no-sugar-added hot chocolate. It's only 50 calories and takes me a few minutes to drink. I also keep a good-size supply of Werther's Sugar Free caramels on hand. Both of those things have saved me more than once.
