I am a 57 year old personal trainer with an arthritic knee and I run. Not as fast, and not as far as I used to but I still run. I was at a track and field meet earlier this summer where I met an athlete of 86 competing in the long jump, high jump, and several running events. I was at another meet recently where a 70 year…

I have to say I am quite amused by this entire thread. It is like debating which exercise machine is best. The answer is the one YOU will stay on on a regular basis. P90X is a life saver for some and a total waste of money for others. Any program that you commit to for an hour a day while eating clean will be beneficial.…

On days when I am pushed for time I do a workout that consists of nothing but pushups. pullups, and ab strap crunches. I do 5 sets of each with minimal rest in between sets, and I am pumped and whipped when I finish. It is my most loved/hated workout! JD

Where are all of the runners today? I completed my first half marathon this morning. I have run the distance before, but always on my own. It was a great course.....mostly downhill. My leg that has been bothering me for several weeks was fine until about mile 10. I stopped twice to stretch it and finished strong. I hope…

Four miles into an 11 miler I pulled a calf muscle. Luckily we were running two 5.5 mile loops so I only had to limp 1.5 back to the start. My half marathon is two weeks away. I hope I am better by then.

Good morning runners! Shannon- I guess we will make this morning a reunion of oldtime runner's club members. I ran 3 miles. I just wanted to take my new Garmin Forerunner for a spin. It is too cool. Try exercises to strengthen your tibialis anterior. That is the muscle that runs beside your shin on the front of your leg. If you are seated in a chair, with your feet flat on the floor and raise your toes off of the floor toward your shin with your heel still on the floor, you will feel your tibialis anterior. Try adding…

Hello runners! I ran with my training group this morning. We were supposed to run 4.5 miles. Just past 3 miles I turned around to go back and run with some of the other runners. Our group is small and sometimes people end up running alone. All of the runners behind me made a wrong turn so I never found them. I ended up…

Hello runners, I ran in the Komen Race for the Cure 5k this morning. We had close to 25,000 participants in Austin. It was a great run and a great cause! I ran 25;23 which is my best time since being diagnosed with cardiovascular disease almost one year ago, and actually my best time in 6 years. Hooray for running!!! Good…

I ran 4.5 miles this morning with a running group. It was nice change to run with someone. I still like the serenity of running solo, but having someone to push me once in a while won't be bad either. Great job everyone! JD
