  • Another vote for burpees, also dislike intensely the plank and any plank based exercise.
  • I find wii dance was a fun thing to do with my daughters. I also had the Wii Zumba which we all did. Bike riding is fab for exercising, although at that age, they had the bikes and we walked.
  • I think we may be overdoing it somewhere, as exhausted this week. So may step it back a few weeks. I come home from a long run feeling for at least a few hours, that I can't be bothered to do anything.
  • That looks like a great idea.
  • I like to rug up when it's cold, which involves a snood covering my ears, extra one round my neck, gloves but if the sun is still out, I still have sunglasses on. My kids are mortified.. but it's okay as I run on the spot so definitely not a runner, although finally have a GPS watch!!
  • Fab advice. I much prefer going down the sweets route (I like sweets...) if taking on board extra whilst running. I think I eat quite well and are maintaining so not at a deficit. Blues4miles. I am still slow, so yes, will take a while to get to 18 in 3 hours. Currently averaging 33-35 a week miles. Briansharpe. Sounds…
  • Thanks trswallow. Looks like I need to relook at my week. Fortunately I can now just run and not have any childcare issues, it's just the taxiing!
  • After my first and only half (September) I drifted a few weeks, lost my mojo, fortunately had a 10 miler booked (end Oct)_o had to keep at it. Still struggled till Christmas but in the NY my new goal is a full and mojo well and truly returned. Have another half booked for March then full September. I just had a day off…
  • Thanks, that's really helpful. Feeling really tired post long run so will take it slowly up to 3 hours before going up. Good advice. Thank you
  • Thanks neutroncore and litsy3. It's the energy dips but also sometimes feel shaky when I get home. I'm assuming that's caused by this? Unfortunately I am already up at 5.30 and leave just after 6 for work every day so earlier would be unrealistic, my long days I get home at 8ish so usually just worn out by the time I get…
  • I've been asked about 4x last week if I've lost "loads more" weight recently. I am exactly the same weight as the target I hit over a year ago. I think my body has changed with running but I KNOW my weight is the same. I do suspect I have lost fat and gained muscle (unfortunately not belly fat and again unfortunately…
  • I log everyday except holidays away (so 3-4 weeks a year) but I still have the focus (just not the wifi! and it feels like a break of routine) Just returned from a week skiing, I ate loads, but I also know I would have burnt loads, got back tonight, logging will commence in the morning. I agree with the other posters, I…
  • Has to be a life habit that doesn't feel as though giving up everything you enjoy. Don't give up things, find acceptable alternatives or adjust the portion size. Have seen other posts about not "wasting" calories on rubbish foods but saving them for nice things. Its been over a year now for me in maintenance, I eat more…
  • I get stitch if I run too fast. I get rid of it by concentrating on my breathing and slowing down.
  • You can't outrun your fork.

  • On my "rest" days I just try and hit 10k on steps.
  • I do a mixed gym session, so cross trainer / elliptical (20 mins), stepper (10 mins), rower (10 mins), bike (10 mins) and a fast mile on the treadmill (I run slow normally), then a do a quick weights run through (not proper weights - the fixed machines) as my cross train day. I was supposed to run today but slightly…
  • 43. Lost 70lb in 2014. I'm happy with my body. I'm 5'5 133lbs. My drug of choice is running, planning my first full in September.
  • How addictive it is with the run but also all things running. How grumpy I feel if I have to miss a run, followed by changing my whole week to try and fit it back in. I think as well when you discover work colleagues who are runners, it then becomes a major discussion every time you see them.
  • I find I'm okay but have issues if nails get too long so I try and keep them trimmed.

  • HM march and full in September... scarey!!!
  • I prefer outside too, so much more relaxing.
  • I have fit it in my life and it has to become habit. It's not something I have to think about. The downside is when I do have to stay at work and absolutely no other option, or have another commitment (parents evening or similar) I feel really grumpy about missing my planned exercise and then have to fit that time…
  • Angerelle Tried to accept your request but it came up as unknown error and cleared it off. For some reason i can't seem to invite from my kindle and the lap top is like gold dust in my house of teens (despite having 2!). Please can you re request? Thanks
  • Me too Moominpoo, have HM in March. You do run quicker in "race" conditions, we did one last September and hope for 2:30 (and it a BIG hope) but we did in 2:15 (although I felt exhausted as much faster than our normal pace). Really hoping to get back up to speed I was then by March.
  • Yes Mountainrun, I live on the top of a hill, that last 1/2 mile always hurts.. I haven't a single route that doesn't involve some big hills. We did a 10k recently and was running a nasty incline which for us is standard, a lot of runners stopped and walked and this bloke next to us said, "you can always tell who trains on…
  • 14 months for me. I've set my calories at a 1/2 lb loss as found normal settings not quite working. I frequently go over by a few calories and eat my exercise burns (hence the settings) and this is working for me. I still log, but I don't whilst on holiday (but still aim to stay within my usual regime) as feels like a…
  • Another slow runner.. Still faster than those sat on their settee so not bothered. Does make me laugh when people run past me at speed. I run 6.3 mph in gym for distances less than an hour but drops to 5.5 outside but it's the hills. ...
  • Yes. I have a different goal depending on day of week. Tuesday and Wednesday at gym as daughters swim or music so very time limited so goal is speed. Other days its distance.
