  • Hi, I'm looking for some more UK based friends for mutual inspiration and motivation! Would ideally like friends who share their diary with friends and not keep it private. I've been on and off here for a few years and my weight has been up and down but overall I am over 50lbs down. At least another 50lbs to go, and maybe…
  • Oh ok, That makes sense, I think!!! I thought it'd just give me exercise calories the more I move not take away calories, especially when I had it set on Sedentary. So should I log the walking/movement I do if it's not going to automatically give it to me?
  • So I should turn negative adjustment off? And just use positive adjustment when I have active days? And stick to my MFP calorie goal? My activity level varies greatly from day to day atm.
  • Hi I'm in the Uk! Open to friend requests! Love giving and receiving motivation and support!
  • I am a RN but in England. I love my job! Don't know if it is possible but if I was you I'd try and get some work experience in both jobs. I honestly thought I would hate nursing, but I got a job as a health care assistant (HCA) and found that I loved it so went on to do my training and become a registered nurse. If I…
  • I am in the UK, friend request sent!!
  • Me!! I'm from Gloucestershire! Open to friend requests!
  • Hello and Welcome!! I am in South West Uk. Have a lot to lose. Open to friend requests so that we can all help each other out and support each other.
  • I work shifts. Either earlies (7.15-3.15) Lates (1.15-9.15pm) or nights (8.45pm-7.45am). I don't have any pattern to the shifts so work a mixture, for example this week I have 2 lates, 2 earlies then another late. I find the key is to plan! I generally get 2 breaks - a short 10mins tea break and a half hour meal break, so…
  • I started trying fast days after watching the programme. Generally fast on Tuesdays and Fridays. Have played around with when I have something to eat. Found that skipping breakfast, having a slice of chicken and some cherry tomatoes and cucumber for lunch then some turkey or fish and veggies for dinner was the best option…
  • I'm from Gloucestershire! Feel free to add! Always looking for supportive friends!
  • Wow! Great to see this still being discussed and debated!! I tried one fast day last week, I actually managed to divide my 500 calories into 3 small meals - some fruit for breakfast, salad and a slice of ham for lunch and turkey stir fry (no noodles!) for tea. I struggled with this fast day and felt hungry, but didn't have…
  • The presenter chose to do his fasting days on Tuesday and Thursday as they suited him best, so no they weren't on 2 consecutive days.
  • Went for a longer walk yesterday, walked to my mum and dad, had a 20min rest there and a glass of water then walked back. Walked there on the roads and walked back across the fields. Was about 4miles in total. So quite a big jump up from my previous 1.3mile route! Did feel the legs hurting a bit on the way back, but kept…
  • Studies have looked at Mice with Alzheimers and the effect of diet on them. On his Twitter account the presenter does say it'll be interesting to see the results of studies on humans with alzheimers.
  • Those asking about the reducing protein on his Twitter he's stating no more than the recommended amount of 60g. He's also stated on Twitter that if you lose weight too quickly then it will be a mixture of lean body mass and fat. Lean body mass measures weren't mentioned in the programme. He did this to investigate the…
  • It's great to hear everyones views of the programme and of Intermittent fasting! Those that are going to try the fasting do update on how it goes! Oh and I realise the programme wasn't about weight loss and was about prolonging life. Really my aim is to be healthier, in order to do this I need to lose weight and get…
  • Ah didn't realise it was popular amongst paleo/primal. Sounds like I wise decision by you though not to fast. Well done for overcoming an ED.
  • I was thinking that both the feed day/fast day regime and the 5:2 could be doable. Really don't think I could fast for 4 days though!!
  • Haha! Just took a look at the diary and was thinking the same thing! Was just thinking how can I word my reply and was also wondering whether or not this was a serious post!! If this is serious - OP - you are eating a lot of processed crap! And it doesn't look like you are eating regularly with meals skipped. Try to eat…
  • Walked my normal 1.3mile route this morning. managed to increase my pace from 3.09 to 3.18. Not much but any increase is good! Thinking of increasing my route, to walk for longer and just to stop me getting bored.
  • Thanks. I have well over 100lbs to lose. 100lbs is first goal then will re-evaluate but will probably need another 40-60lbs off after that. So aiming for 1800calories should be ok? I am starting to exercise (very unfit) starting with walking and will build in some strength training too.
  • Confused.com! I was just reading another post on here that said you should never eat below you BMR. I just calculated my BMR using several websites and came out with results between 2000-2100 calories. WIth a TDEE around 2800. Therefore does this mean I should be eating 2000-2300 calories a day? (500 deficit a day) I'm…
  • Well I'm not doing so well on the August walking front!! Was busy yesterday and today has been a vile day weather wise! Think I'm going to have to get on the cross trainer and do some exercise indoors today!
  • Some amazing transformations here and everyone is inspiration!! Well done guys and gals! I do love how its not just body shapes and weights that have changed, but how so many have a new hair cut, style and/or colour! Its like you've got a whole new you!!
  • I'm in! I decided last week to try walking as a way of introducing exercise. I have a lot of weight to lose and am very unfit. I've started with a 1.3 mile route which is taking me around 25mins. I hope to increase this. So joining in in a August walking challenge will be great motivation for me!
  • Thanks for all the responses! I don't have a dog! Kinda wish I did because I then can't use my pathetic excuses to not go for a walk!! Have a cat but really don't think she'd appreciate me putting a harness on her and dragging her round the block!! So far no pain in knees, but slight pain in lower back. But I've had worse.…
  • Thats really good to hear and will hopefully keep me motivated!
  • I feel you need to do this under the guidance of a doctor. Over here they run rehabilitation programmes, that include exercise classes for those that have had a heart attack or suffer angina. When I read the title of the post I was going to suggest walking bu you've said even that brings on tightness. I'm assuming you've…
  • Thanks for the response! So by next week I should be noticing a difference? That is good. Might aim to stick to this route for 2 weeks then add in some extra. I'm not doing any strength at the moment but I hope to soon! (Long story short, do have access to a multi-gym but currently have a lodger in spare room, but he is…
