I'm definitely in the +/-5lb. camp.

I think it's all about knowing which place motivates you more and allows you to lift the most weight. It might even be contingent on what phase of training you are in. For me, if I'm just focusing on power rack lifts like squats and deadlift (as no guy is in my rack doing "curls"), home is the best place. But it also…

Sounds like fun

I was in a similar position and was a skinny-fat person after losing all the weight. The bottom line is that unless you desire to look as thin as a runway model, weight training is only going to enhance and give you the look at you desire. Don't worry about looking like a bodybuilder because I'm sure you've noticed that as…

Yes, I believe in it and do it at least 5 days per week.

I'm going to have to hang around here as this looks like where I need to be. Folks who know what it's like to juggle family, work and pain to get in the gym or outside. I'm just trying to drop some body fat for an upcoming trip and by the new year, I expect to hit cruise control and just focus on keeping it off. However,…

Lack of an empty squat rack is the main reason I "opened" my home gym again. Less variety, but invaluable for 5x5 type training. Sadly, weather's getting cold so back to the "bad place" again soon.

Personally I'm a huge fan of "Sleep Cycle", but there are many types out there.

I'm with you there. It's hard to do as my activity level seriously decreases, but come March when the weather starts to get warmer and I know it's not necessary to drop a ton of weight, it's well worth the effort. Plus, it shows people that a New Year's Resolution is really made months prior, not because it's Jan. 1st.

Good post and I agree whole-heartedly. Now may be a good time to focus less on the scale and more on decreasing body fat if you still want to "lose".
-
Right now, twice per week to gauge diet progress. But normally, about once per week if that.

I'm not on Keto, but normally my diet resembles a low-carb/high fat plan with few processed foods. My triglyceride levels over the last few years has been very low and I've stayed eating this way (except for my current plan where I'm experimenting with high-carb days while working out a specific way). I'd recommend that…

LOL, I was going to say that, but I didn't want to be "that guy" so early in the thread. There's no better place where the new gained confidence is better displayed and appreciated. Gotta add going to the beach/pool and removing the shirt is great as well, although I still find myself being self-conscious a bit more than…

Wow, so many to list. I lost over 70 lbs. years ago and never looked back. I'd say: - Self confidence when walking into a room - More confidence talking to women - Self confidence when public speaking - Knowing that I can do anything physically that I want to do - Doing a chin-up (I NEVER could do one growing up and now I…

My diet is about 30% fat, so for me, more fat and protein and less carbs do the trick. Everyone is different because if you're an athlete, more carbs may be beneficial but if you're sitting on your butt all day with little activity, it may not be for you. The total grams depends on your overall caloric intake for your…

I like the ab wheel as well. Squats are my next favorite.

Haha, love it!

This should be posted at poster-size at various points throughout every gym.

You need to teach a class for people in relationships as more spouses need to adopt this mentality. Instead of losing weight to get into a relationship, folks need to see the benefit of keeping the weight off to keep the physical-attraction strong throughtout the relationship.

No, I won't say that I'm settling. I just don't sweat the stuff that I thought mattered oh so much "back-in-the-day". For everything else, I've realized even more how much power I have to create change.

Great job!

Lift 3 days per week Ride bike 3 days per week Do nothing or just stretch one day.

Haha, good one there! Don't be embarrassed, but proud. But if they were granny-panties...then you'd have a reason to be embarrassed!

Been there (and other places), and I have to thoroughly agree.

I guess I need to as I name my cars. However, I did take pics of my new tires as if I had just outfitted my car with performance rubber of something...and for MUCH cheaper.

Vacation training to combat vacation eating: Old Fred Hatfield routine: Legs/Chest/Back/Arms with sets ranging from 5, 12 and 40 reps. Sets of 40 push-ups were the killers of the day.
