If there is any way you can afford it, you could invest in a pair of dumbbells (5kg, for example) and do Youtube workouts with them. I would especially recommend Caroline Girvan's programs: She combines strength training with cardio, her workouts are super rich in variety and at the beginning of every video she explains…

I took a look at the hike. It sounds great but for a beginner it will be PAIN. 1900m difference in altitude is absolutely no joke. Also, if you need to go back on the same day, keep in mind that walking downhill will also be painful. I can't echo the comment earlier when someone said that you can turn around at any time…

Have you used the same body weight scale for both weigh-ins? Apart from what the others have said (weighing and logging *everything* you eat; taking account of water weight), you should always use the same scale for measuring your progress. I have two different scales and one shows 1.5 kg more than the other.

I don't know which effect lack of sleep has on a resting heart rate, but the heart rate during a workout is definitely higher (or gets higher much faster) for me if I don't sleep enough.

I used to measure everything including veggies, half a year ago I eased into maintenance and now I only weigh extremely high-calorie foods or just to get the right portion of something (especially with things that expand when cooked, like rice or lentils - I only cook for myself and do not want any leftovers). I think for…

Hey, I've been to Crete 3 times before but never as a vegan, so my advice might not be the best. Depending on where you stay (Crete is big), there might be a vegan-friendly restaurant near. Just checkout HappyCow: http://www.happycow.net/europe/greece/crete/ In "normal" restaurants you should be able to get grilled…

I like to marinate tempeh slices in some soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic and spices and then roast in a pan. Perfect as a protein source in asian dishes. Sometimes I also crumble tempeh, roast it in oil and use it as veggie bolognese. Tempeh has quite a nutty flavour to it, just experiment a little bit. The downside to…

Fruits are my favourite group of food and I typically have 5 or more servings a day. On the other hand, I don't like any other food high in sugar (like cake, biscuits, candy). Fruit can't really be a bad choice in my opinion, but I don't think you necessarily "need" it. Just eat what feels right for you.

I have been on crutches for the past 4 weeks and 2 more to come. Surprisingly, I have not gained a single pound although I can't weigh/measure my food and was very active before. For me, not gaining is actually a problem but it might calm you a bit - it's not like you will gain extreme amounts of weight, especially if you…

You have already received excellent information and I do not know what else to add. I just want to applaud you for being such a caring, responsible mum. There is nothing more cruel than forcing a child/teenager to eat something they don't want to. I've been vegetarian since I was 6 years old, vegan since age 18. Both of my…

I stopped logging a few weeks ago. The reason is college. I can't really weigh my food there without coming across as a super-weirdo and that's not what college students want, lol. Plus, I'm already very skinny so I don't "need" to track anymore. I've always been quite disciplined, never a binger, so I know that I can…

This is the story of my life. I just figured I need to look for new friends who share my interest in sports/conversations/culture. But honestly, the longer I didn't go out, the more repulsed I got by drunk people and party culture in general. This does not seem to be the case with you, so I don't really have any…

Peanut butter! The interesting thing is, I only discovered it through MFP (it's not common where I live). Still, I managed to lose almost 10 kg. Moderation is key :p And, I wouldn't call it an addiction, but I don't think a single day has passed by in the last few years without me eating tomatoes and/or tomato sauce.

I love my small chest, and since I've lost weight my boobs are much tighter and perkier as only the breast tissue remained and the saggy fat melted away. It's an A cup, yes, but I don't mind. Even though you won't lose weight proportionally, your body will still shrink as a whole and your boobs won't look much smaller…

In my opinion, hitting your target weight should be reward enough. It's better to remove the emotional part of dieting and just see this weight loss journey as a necessary investment in your health. (I'm no native speaker so it's hard for me to explain, but I hope you get what I want to say.) That being said, if you still…

What do you mean by "watching what you eat"? Do you weigh your food?
-
At first, I thought I would find it hard to eat at maintenance level because I wasn't hungry when I was losing. But when I was losing, I chose very filling, very low calorie foods (veggies, fruits) and almost ate nothing else. Now in maintenance, I incorporate ice cream, nuts, high-cal spreads like tahin or peanut butter…

Do you weigh your food? If you do, have you consulted a health professional who ruled out any hormonal problems?

Hello, I'm 19 too and will be starting college at October 1st. Right now I still live with my parents who pay for high-quality food, but this will soon be over so I'm in the same poor student boat. Feel free to add me, I'd be happy to have a vegan friend of my age :) I'm from Austria (Europe) by the way.

Yes

I'm 5'8'', a bit over 120 lbs, and wear European size 36/38 (US size 6-8 I guess? It's confusing.)

"You are so skinny it isn't beautiful anymore." I mean, please? I have never asked for anyone's opinion on my beauty/body/whatever. Say the same thing to a fat person and run.
-
^This. 9 pounds in 2 months isn't bad, but on 1200 kcal it should probably come off a bit faster.

friendly Edit because somebody else posted: not so friendly ;D
