  • I practice similarly to apotyhs, spacing them out about two to three weeks. I feel terrible for a few days following it as I watch the scale skyrocket. Invariably, though, if I stick to my guns post pig out, the effect reverses, if not intensifies weight loss. Two months ago I'd idled in the mid 160s for quite a time. I…
  • I drink 2 liters a day. I'm not calling that healthy, but I got on it at a young age due to insulin dependent diabetes (sweet pop spikes my sugars, which makes me feel awful.) I haven't curbed it since I started losing in January, and things seem to be working out.
  • I'v opened both links in my browser for further research when I'm off work, thanks people. I'll have to keep a close eye particularly on be percent I think because I spite of my declining weight, calipers and the US army measurement method of tracking it both clock me in around fifteen, which I know is significantly new…
  • The best equipment I have access to is pulley based resistance machines with plates (chest press, butterflies, things like that.) but no free weights. I'll also look into the suggested calisthenics, but if my only focus is my stomach, are weights (and not body weight exercises) strictly necessary?
  • Diet soda is guilt free. Though I'm not proud to admit it, I drink over two liters a day, and maybe two glasses of water. Always have, and likely will for a long time. The nigh ninety pounds I've lost speaks for itself. I'm diabetic, so sweet pop has never been an option, I imagine that'd have a considerable impact.
  • Heh, I haven't been eating Twinkies, in case I gave that impression. The last processed food I ate was sugary breakfast cereals that I phased out six weeks ago for my ghetto egg mcmuffin each morning, which Is two scrambled eggs on wheat toast with cubed galaxy cooked in and topped with a slice of cheese. I already…
  • Alright, there's a clear consensus that I need to hit the weights...harder. as said, I've been hitting them all along. Can I really expect tuning up to a caloric surplus to make so much a difference, that my gradual decline in strength will turn around into a steady upswing? I'm concerned because advice I've seen here…
  • At this point, just lean, honestly. If I flex an arm, one can feel that it's pretty solid, it just looks a little bad with what hangs down adjacent to the armpit. Hypothetically, let's pretend my arms weren't a concern at all, and that I was happy with my chest (which I kind of am, and now this thread's making me insecure…
  • Yes, I do just quick add everything. I'm loose about macros, but In essence my food breakdown during a given day is one of a few things: eggs for breakfast (high protein), protein granola/nut bars during my shifts at work (which are equal grams protein and carbohydrates), and my dinner/late night stuff, which is often some…
  • Although I'm still in the process (and failing, the only time it's posting anything, it's a notice that the user has moved or deleted the img from photobucket, even though copying and pasting the URL I've got on my clipboard to a different web browser seems to be working, frustrating.) of trying to get my images up, I'm…
  • EDIT: PLEASE BE PATIENT, I'VE SWITCHED TO A DESKTOP COMPUTER, TRYING TO ORGANIZE IMG TAGS ON MY PHONE WAS A MISTAKE. I'll preface this by apologizing if I really am just pissing and moaning over a body image issue. I promise I don't do it to be cute or dramatic, as I know some do, and yes, I know there are those struggling…
  • damn near every night, four eggo waffles smothered in maple syrup and untold quantities of butter.
  • I've been on the same journey as you, having lost quite a bit of weight since Xmas. I've had access to a gym myself, and in spite of diligent strength training haven't gotten looking TOTALLY fit over the past six months, though I'm happy so far. as far as how much weight to lose, it's up to you at this point. people told…
  • I get enough fluids, and I truthfully can't stomach the taste of green tea as a drink, prefer standard tea for an actually beverage, but know it has fewer health perks.
  • That I would notice a marked increase (like, three months rather than three weeks.) in the lifespan of a pack of toilet paper while eating less.
  • caliper. its a cheap one with decent reviews. Im sure its got a margin of error but i'm happy if the number is in the teens period. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1281101-definitely-some-success-but-feedback-please cant do img tags for photobucket easy on my phone but that thread has my progress pictures in it.
  • sage advice anyone?
  • ive been doing the same 4.5 mile walk for the past two months. when i first started, i tried running some of it. killed me to go half a minute like some others here. tonight, on my last mile and a half, i suddenly decided to burst into a 5.5 mph or so jog. thought itd shave a bit off my journey home, but i kept that pace…
  • i hope so...the effort in doing the elliptical isnt what bugs me...its tedium. cant stand moving in place. even if i had to do nt twice s long for the same results id prefer walking.
  • 80 pounds in five months, which is a lot more than i expected, my calorie deficit math says it should only have been about two thirds that. fifteen to go...
  • though i wouldnt call it a mainstay of my exercise routine, stepmania on pc is a fun time. its essentially dance dance revolution, but people make custom step routines for tons of songs, and you can design step sets for any song out there, too.
  • I return with more questions and thoughts. First, and perhaps most importantly, I learned what a smith machine is today. Yeah, I'm that inexperienced, for most of the five months I've been at Planet Fitness I looked at half the equipment as if they were alien torture devices with no clue to their uses. After snapping a…
  • 5x5 isn't really an option for me...Planet Fitness is the only gym I can afford, and I'm hoping I'll be able to make reasonable gains on machines rather than free weights, which they don't have a great selection of aside from dumbells going up to 60 pounds. Most everything else is a machine of some sort. Also...woudn't the…
  • ive got a question...im finding it very difficult to increase my weight lifted at all during weight loss. been at an 1100 calorie deficit for awhile now, and suspect that may be involved, but i havent been able to increase my weights for a month and a half now. sometimes i even have to scale back a plate or two on machines…
  • just so in not leaving thngs vague, the deficit is ~1100 calories daily. my tdee is about 2700-2800, and i have calories locked to 1650 daily. i sort of feel as if i should create a bit more of a bufffer in terms of being about ten or fifteen lbs lighter before risking a surplus, but i wont claim to know best also, if this…
  • I've been doing strength training, almost exclusively of the upper body variety, since my outset. Chest press, bicep curls, crunches and push-ups on the first day, and shoulder press, pull downs, and just recently added leg extensions on the alternate day. Part of my trouble is, and I don't know if this is poor diet…
  • I was very much planning to bump my calories to about 2000, perhaps even 2200, once I hit my goal weight (170-175) so I can build some muscle . I've probably been too aggressive about it so far, but at this point, being less than twenty pounds from goal, I figure I've already done the damage as far as excess skin goes, and…
  • I'm not trying to sound pompous saying it, but as far as health benefits go, I'm pretty sure that my significant weight loss combined with my forty or so miles of activity weekly mean I won't see much more benefit to strict physical health short of quitting smoking. Bearing what you said about not just squeaking into the…
