where is my goal weight?

hello. six foot tall male here. for most of my twenty nine years here on earth, I've been obese. a bit of a life-changing event spurred me into action January pot this year.
at Christmas i weighed 255. as of this morning, Ik 192, the least I've weighed since age eighteen.
i feel I'm looking. pretty good, and am twelve pounds from my original goal weight of this180. as i continue to assess myself in the mirror, though... i feel a lot better about how i look, but not twelve pounds from goal weight bettier.
is there any kind of reliable formula for deciding gal weight?
on a tangental topic, should i expect t need skin removal surgery with this weight loss and nd the long time i carried the extra weight? is it inevitable?

Honestly? No. Goal weight is generally just a generic number people choose to have something to work towards. If you've never been 'slim', like me, you'll have no basis for comparison. I chose a number that seemed about right (what I knew people around my height to weigh), and I readjust my goal as I get closer to it until I find a weight I'm comfortable at.
In relation to your other question, there's also no way of knowing. It can depend on the speed of your weight loss, your age, your skins elasticity, etc. You'll only know when you've reached a weight your happy with.0 -
In terms of goal weight I picked what is between the parameters of underweight and overweight for my height.
I'd pick somewhere thats in the middle and not on the edge of your healthy weight range-I have almost never been below the limit of my healthy weight range for 5 years, and when I stayed at it it was too easy to get over again.
Plus also I think you should have goals in terms of measurements... like for example for me I'm now just slightly in my healthy weight range for height, but I'm also a bit over 80cm waist measurement. I read that for most people a waist measurement of greater than 94cm for men or 80cm for women is an indicator of internal fat deposits, which can coat the heart, kidneys, liver and pancreas, and increase the risk of chronic disease. So my goal is not only to be in a healthy weight range for my height, but to get below 80cm.0 -
I'm not trying to sound pompous saying it, but as far as health benefits go, I'm pretty sure that my significant weight loss combined with my forty or so miles of activity weekly mean I won't see much more benefit to strict physical health short of quitting smoking. Bearing what you said about not just squeaking into the very top of my healthy range (which is 146-184 lbs) means I'm probably wise to trim down to 170 and go from there.0
