  • You gotta eat back the calories youve burned, its a must. My brother has this same problem, hes trying to gain weight and build muscle and he had a hard time at first. He drinks a protein shake before and after his workout. He also eats more smaller meals. It seems to work for him.
  • I usually hit about 3000 calories walking a round of golf.. But I usually subtract some to even out for the calories I would have burned naturally in that time span.. Great job on the number, 6005, thats crazy!
  • Youve already done a great job in looking up what you can eat at the restaurants.. As far as the pressure of "One time wont kill you", thats just gonna take that will power. You gotta put it in your head that you are working hard, and dont wanna ruin it.. Whenever I slip, I make myself exercise like im preparing for a…
  • Death to all scales! The only reason I weigh myself is so I can update MFP to know how many calories I should be eating.. Im keeping my weigh in's to once every 2 weeks.. It almost feels like I traded in an addiction with food with an addiction with a stupid number on a stupid scale lol
  • Man I couldnt agree more, especially after the scale defeat this morning haha.. Screw it, im not weighing in again until the 1st of december.. Who wants to get in on this?
  • I know of a lot of people who own the polar devices. Thats the brand I have with the chest strap, and it works great. It got to a point where i hated "hoping" that the #s mfp were giving me matched me personally, so thats when I went out and got one. Its amazing the differences in numbers that ive seen.
  • MFP has me at 2000 calories for a 2lb a week weightloss, which works for me.. I try not to eat unhealthy things, but every once and a while it wont hurt, as long as like you said, you portion it right.. As far as the exercise, theres nothing wrong with taking a day off.. I sometimes feel lazy too, especially if youve been…
  • Agreed, but I really wouldnt consider that fast food. Thats just over portioning lol
  • Depends on how ill I suppose. I think everyone knows their limits. I personally like to sweat it out lol
  • I dont know how preparing your food is the same as "fast food". You cant make a sandwich? bring fruit?
  • Agreed.. I personally go hard when I do strength training, and dont usually have much left in the tank after.. I push it when I do cardio, but no matter how much I do, I always have plenty in me for strength training..
  • or you can prepare your food at home and take it with?
  • I recently tried to lose weight for the wrong reasons. I was doing it mainly because someone else thought I should. I mean she was right, I definitely need to and was never mad at her for expressing it. But the only way you can succeed, is when you are doing it for the right reasons. Right now im doing a great job, and its…
  • Definitely the protein powder. I drink some imediately after working out.. I know a couple who do it before and after their workout, but they are in strength building mode, im in weight loss, but I definitely notice a difference.. I dont ache, it curves my hunger, and as a meal replacement it fits in perfectly..
  • Agreed, any time you have an issue with impact in concern with the knee and some form of asthma, swimming is always the best idea.. Is walking not an option? At a slow pace, its very low impact, but also very good for you..
  • cooked.. 1 cup of cooked white rice, as long as it aint instant.. is around the 200 calorie mark..
  • Skydiving, sitting in an airplane seat and not feeling ridiculously uncomfortable, being able to jog a few miles without stopping.. just some of the things id love to be able to do that I cant right now..
  • Agreed, Im on that 6'1 6'2 border, and there is no way Im getting down to 190.. I plan on putting on some muscles, and ive always been built thick.. I feel like im built like a linebacker, which would put me at that 235 range.. I picked 225 as my goal weight, but we will see..
  • Id have to imagine it happens a lot.. You will have a lot of people who have been either slightly overweight or above that for most of their life.. They wont know what a healthy them looks like.. I have a goal weight in mind. Once I hit it, I will evaluate how I feel and look and go from there..
  • ah, resistance training for me is just another word for weights and/or using a resistance band.. Because there are so many different types of exercise equipment besides weights, Resistance training it is lol
  • I do cardio (jogging, walking, sports, Wii) about 6 times a week and do weights about 6 times a week as well.. I think doing resistance training is very important because not only are you burning calories, but you are building muscle and strength. That will cause your metabolism to jump a lil bit.. Just make sure you keep…
  • Agreed, for some trying to change so much at one point can be overwhelming.. Definitely start with your diet, because you can lose weight without exercising if your diet is good.. but if you are eating like crap, exercise wont do much good..
  • The lesser of the evils!! haha
  • Never forget about subway! hahaha and yea, they still have the low carb burger, but its still high in calories, fat, cholesterol, and crazy high in sodium..
  • lol ah, I wouldnt call it the newbie gains.. this aint my first rodeo.. puttin on muscle just has never really been a problem, probably cause a calorie deficit has always been a problem haha.. good luck though.. keep at it!
  • It seems like most are telling you not to eat out at any of those places.. For me, instead of jack in the box, mcdonalds, burger king.. Ill go to chipotle, subway, or every so often carls jr and get the turkey burger (not the perfect choice, but compared to the things I use to eat, in no way do i feel bad about it).. Go on…
  • LOL we are just gonna hafta agree to disagree on some things.. My arms have gotten larger, stronger, and are firmer than before I started..
  • I mean im not going off scientific equations.. Ive been dieting for the past month, started doing cardio and resistance training at the same time.. Since then ive lost 13 lbs, and not only can i see a difference in muscle definition in my chest, shoulders, tri's and bi's.. I can feel a difference, I can feel that im…
  • Thats not entirely true.. I mean im on a huge calorie deficit, but ive seen obvious upper body muscle gain since ive been on my diet..
  • Perfectly explained.. Right now, if you have weight to lose, doing crunches and sit ups isnt about definition.. Its about getting your core strong, and that will help in tons of daily activities and exercises you do..
