  • Am late to reply. My baby is nearly a year & I am hanging on to a stubborn 10lbs. I think it is the sleep deprivation. Any postpartum moms, feel free to add me.

  • Beautiful baby. I had a C-section 5 months ago. I am *starting* to approach my prior weight, but not there yet. Doing lots of online videos (like Barre3).
  • I had my baby 12 days ago and am eager to get back to exercising, but am still in the 'take it easy' mode as I so recently gave birth. Safety first(!). I don't like heavy weights at all. My favorite is videos online (I stream Barre 3). I also like prenatal DVDs (Susanne Bowen) & am eager to get back to those when I am a…
  • I don't know about your first reply -- I am BFing and am starving all the time. I can't imagine only eating the same amount of calories as before. I eat a LOT more, but still am slowly losing weight. I think it is a result of both BF and exercise (I try to do a little every day. Prob 30 min/day. With time, I'd like to…
  • I, too, am all about the DVDs! I like Suzanne Bowens & Tracy Anderson & Barre 3. You can fit 20 minutes in here & there and it really helps. Feel free to add me...
  • I have not tracked my calories on this pregnancy, but I do try to exercise 5x/week. I have done the best on weight gain this time around (am up 20lbs and due next week). My first pregnancy I gained 30lbs, and 25lbs on the 2nd. My biggest weakness is sweets (I wish I could be better about this!), but mostly I just try to…
  • LOVE my compression tights (bought 2 pairs on AMazon, 1 with feet, 1 without). They are a pain to get on, but they REALLY work and they make your legs feel better all day. I wish I had done this with my first 2 pregnancies. This is key for the last trimester.
  • I'm due next week with #3. The best thing I did for myself this time was to remain active. I try to exercise ~5x/week. I either go to Barre class (where they have childcare) or do a video at home. There are a lot of great prenatal videos out there, and I also stream online. My weight has been the best this time (although I…
  • Thanks for posting, esp. on Metabolic Assessment. I just got back from Canyon Ranch Lenox, where I had a great time, and did a nutrition consult. Very helpful. I did not do the Exercise Assessment, but maybe next time I will, based on your suggestion. I did not encounter any sexist trainers in Lenox, so I'm sorry you did!…
  • Thank you for the original Canyon Ranch post! I am headed to CR Berkshires next week and you have provided some good tips. I am really looking forward to it as a way to 'reset' my body for good diet and exercise. thanks
  • I like the barre workouts - such as dailey method, barre method and barre 3. A lot of people like Jillian, but her personality and rah rah style get to me. I like the quieter videos. And best yoga video of all-time is the one with Ali McGraw (from > 10 yrs ago). No weights there, you just feel relaxed, stretched and great.
  • I, too,had a baby 3 weeks ago! I only gained 24 lbs this time (much better than with my first pregnancy). I was really watching it and tried to exercise up until week 34. Now I have about 10lbs. left to go. Unfortunately I had a C-section and a few other complications, which means I can't get back to exercising for another…
  • Hello ladies, I am on the home-stretch at 36 weeks. Agree with all that weight gain is not linear. Have spurts that are better and worse. With both this pregnancy, and my last, I packed on the most weight during month 5 (6-7 lbs) because I was so darn hungry. I am starting to slow things down now. I also realize how close…
  • I'm still running at 31 weeks (went this morning -- very relaxing). OK, I am VERY slow. You could probably speed walk faster than I am running. I also have to alternate quarter miles with walking, because I get short-of-breath easily. Having said that, I think trying to maintain fitness is the way-to-go. With my first…
  • Hello all, I am 31 weeks pregnant with #2 and have gained 18 lbs. Thank you for helpful tips on how to edit MFP (They REALLY need to add a pregnancy function!). I gained 30 lbs with #1, which seemed good at the time, but after delivery the last 10 lbs. took a full year to lose! So this time, I'm hoping for only 25lb.…

  • Agree with others that it is crazy to say you will NEVER eat junk food -- and just looking to bail on your resolutions entirely. Same goes for running every day. How about running 3-4X/week? Just saying. For reference, I go to exercise class 3-4X a week, and try to run once-twice a week (the latter is harder, as I am a…
  • I think you need 1400 calories/day to stay at max BMR. I am doing this MFP with 2 other women in my office, and we have all adjusted our calories to 1400 (per MD's orders!) because 1200 is really too low to consistently maintain. If we exercise, we ADD that to the calories per day, to end at zero. Good luck!
