  • Grew up bouncing between SW Florida and BA Argentina  Currently in SE Virginia
  • You could freeze them, pickle them, or trade with someone who has a surplus of another veggie/fruit/etc. Or you could be generous and give some to someone who is not fortunate enough to have access to fresh produce.
  • OMG me too! It's not uncommon for the cart of shame to pull up during a race and ask if I need a ride :blushing:
  • There's tons but my latest obsession came about when trying to meet calorie and protein requirements. Didn't feel like cooking or putting much effort forth (metal or physical) so I grabbed some raw almond butter added a scoop of pea protein powder and a teaspoon of raw honey. Thought it would be disgusting and I was so…
  • Go to a store that specializes in running, get fitted and then put a few miles on the running shoes you pick. If they don't work out go back to same running store (most allow you to return/exchange) and try again. Once you find THE shoes for you then you can use online shopping. I use 6pm.com quite a bit (30 day return…

  • Favorite time to go for a run is as the world is waking up. It's dark and quiet when I head out and by the time I am heading home the sun is just starting to rise and the birds are singing. It's really quite beautiful. I also don't eat first but do have some coffee before heading out.
  • Trail runs are fun but can be an injury waiting to happen. When first starting out try to find a nature park nearby that is runner friendly. These parks often have running trails that mark distance and difficulty. There is also the added security that there are employees who check the trails throughout the day and before…
  • What works for me may not work for you so it's pretty individualized. It's a good idea to go to a store that can fit you into a shoe that suits your needs and gives you the proper amount of support in the right places. I would avoid large chain stores. Also spend what you need to spend to get proper shoes. If what works is…
  • A friend made me a salad with kale that was really good. She shredded the kale added beets (fresh steamed) and Asian sesame dressing and let it sit overnight. Some pumpkin seeds on top and yummy!
  • I have the opposite problem and am forced to be a mouth breather which seriously sucks when out for a run. Think flying insects...
  • Vegetarian (cheese is my kryptonite) here with an occasional transgression (usually seafood) but a majority of my meals are vegan friendly so if it doesn't bother you then please add me as well.
  • If I'm running on my treadmill I either watch a movie/documentary or listen to an audiobook. It has to be something that can keep my mind engaged otherwise I get bored and distracted and wind up organizing the closet, again.
  • Thanks for the suggestion. I will give that a try over the weekend.
  • I've done several "color" runs. There was a different experience with each. None were chip timed and the Cosmic Run wasn't timed at all. I also agree that the Cosmic Run was very poorly organized which led to a less then fun experience. What to expect? A LOT of walkers who have not learned good race etiquette. Be prepared…
  • I LOVE zombie runs!!!! The last zombie run I did had "World War Z" zombies and the kid zombies were soooooo fast they killed me at the first mile mark  I prefer "Walking Dead" zombies
  • I usually use Runkeeper but I decided to try the Zombies, Run! app yesterday and today. Although the story was fun and had my husband laughing ( especially when I yelled out "woohoo I've got a baseball bat and pants!") it didn't keep track of miles. Is there a way to get it to keep track of miles like Runkeeper does?
  • First, this is a preliminary study. It has not been peer reviewed. Second what the study points out is subjects who do not exercise and subjects with high-mileage running practices both appear to have shorter lifespans. But moderate mileage runners show improved health benefits. "The researchers behind the newest study on…
  • I would have baked brie and figs
  • Our current fur kids are Vinnie and Sally. Not very exciting names but they came with those names. Now our last foster dog was named Odyssey. A mouthful so we just started calling her Oddy which eventually turned into Odd. Odd was a perfect name for her too. I
  • It might be lame but I like to take adzuki beans and smash some raw honey and a dash of heavy cream into them for a quick sweet snack. For lazy snacks I grab frozen peaches or medjool dates.
  • I'm a vegetarian but I do have some vegan friendly suggestions. It sounds like your body needs more fuel, calories/protein. Also be mindful of staying hydrated when exercising. If you're exercise routine takes you past 2 hours consider drinking a beverage with electrolyte replacement. Banana and peanut butter (I prefer…
  • Fresh spinach adds little to the flavor but just so you're prepared it makes your shake a vibrant green.
  • I've got a homemade blackberry pie tempting me. It was made for me by one of the residents at work so I had to accept it. I tried to leave it at work to share but she made one for the rest of the nurses and one for me. Now it sits taunting me from my kitchen counter...
  • You make me laugh I run 12 even 13 depending on how distracted I am. I'm slow, I'm clumsy, but I love to run and I don't care what other people think. If you're out there running simply for the joy of running I believe, in my heart that makes you a runner. Remember no matter how slow you are you're still lapping the person…
  • LOVE my home gym. Mostly because I'm too lazy to make myself presentable and then drive to a gym. Treadmill Elliptical Free weights and bench Power tower Weighted body bars Rower Pilates reformer Pilates balls Medicine balls Yoga mats TV/DVD and of course a dog bed for my neurotic dog.
  • Yes yes yes unfortunately sometimes they like to tweek the model you love to run in and ruin your favorite shoes:cry: . Now when I find a pair I LOVE I'll buy multiple pairs.
