  • I have this book and I love it! I think it has helpful information in it and there's a lot of restuarants listed, too. There's also a section towards the back that has different grocery products that are recommended (like cereal, yogurt, ice cream, granola bars, etc) and another section that has suggested foods for certain…
  • Something I've gotten hooked on for breakfast are two strawberry waffles with a little whipped cream....the waffles are whole wheat and have only 170 calories total and 5 grams of fat and the whip cream is very low cal (about 20 calories in 2 tbsp with 2 g. fat). It's pretty filling and very yummy! Also for lunch, you…

  • I totally agree with you. Heart disease/stroke is actually the top cause of death! And I read in a Psychology Today magazine that it's ironic that people are more afraid of getting cancer than heart disease, because heart disease is much more common and not very many people do anything to prevent it.
  • I recieved an email yesterday that had a list of the top 10 worst foods and I thought I'd pass it along. 1. Carl's Jr. Western Bacon Six Dollar Burger (1,130 calories, 66 g. fat) 2. Pizza Hut Double Deep Pizza (1,160 calories, 72 g. fat) 3. El Monterey XX Large Chimichanga (920 calories, 57 g. fat) 4. Denny’s Meat Lover’s…
  • I'm a Cancer, as well, and I've been religiously using this site since August 2007. So far, I've lost about 33 pounds and I only have 10ish to go until I reach my goal! Keep us posted if you notice any significant findings.
  • Thanks for posting this, I love RR and I've always wondered about the nutritional info.....much appreciated!
  • Are you on any medications that are causing weight gain, by chance? For exanple, I know the majority of antidepressants cause weight gain and it's extremely hard to lose weight if you're on them (from my own experience as well as others'). Just a thought....
  • My favorite is the Chocolatey Drizzle, they're sooo good and I like that they're pretty healthy, too!!
  • I really like the elliptical machines at the gym, I can burn about 350 calories in just 30 minutes and it's pretty fun, I do it everyday.
  • Try this link: http://www.subway.com/applications/NutritionInfo/nutritionlist.aspx?id=sandwich It listed most (if not all) the sandwiches they make OR what I do is enter each thing I had on my sandwich individually, because they have the calorie information for every ingredient (cheese, veggies, type of bread, etc)...I…
  • I actually went to Curves for about 3-4 months and thought it was a really fun workout. I quit going because I couldn't afford it anymore ($40 bucks a month versus the student rec for free), but I've actually found that I prefer the gym anyway because the weight is coming off much faster. My mom has been going to Curves…
  • Yeah, as the post above said, Spark People has a recipe calculator you can use. You just type in every ingredient used along with the number of servings and you'll have the amount of calories, total fat, carbs, etc. Hope it helps! Here's the site: http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/recipe-calculator.asp
  • Hey everyone! I was talking to a friend the other day and he said the workout machines at the gym are very inaccurate as far as calories burned. He said you're only burning about a third of what the machine actually says....does anyone know if there's any truth to this? It doesn't seem possible, because with most machines,…
  • I use a Precor every day at the gym and it's awesome, I really want to buy one! I also don't think it's bad to have it in a room with a TV, it'll help the time go by faster, but make sure you keep up your speed! Have fun with it!
  • Does anyone know if you're supposed to step on the scale before of after exercising? Today I stepped on before and it said 146 and then after working out for 2 hours, it said 144.4.....I highly doubt I lost a pound and a half in just 2 hours. Any ideas?? Thanks!:flowerforyou:
  • Yeah, I can tell a HUGE difference and it's wonderful. I'm trying to get back down to the weight I was when I graduated from high school a few years ago. I gained 30-35 pounds in the two and a half years I've been in college. I'm trying to nip it in the bud now while I still can! Good luck with your diet and keep…
  • Thanks, my original goal when I started in August was 32 pounds and I've alread lost 16, so I'm about halfway to my goal! =] What about you?
  • I've read that approx. 3500 calories is equal to 1 pound...
  • On average it only burns about 184 calories. Check out this website for more info... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/03/25/AR2005032509383.html
  • Yeah, I've had a huge problem with it, too. I'm on Cymbalta, which is actually supposed to decrease your appetite, but I've gained approx. 30 pounds since I've started taking it and now I'm having a really difficult time taking the weight off. I've been using this site faithfully for about 6 weeks now and I've only lost…
  • So is it okay to eat less than the 1200 calories? I've always heard that your body needs a minimum amount so it doesn't go into starvation mode.
  • I was looking at my goals page and I had chosen to do the aggressive weight loss (2 pounds per week), but on the next page where it gives my summary, it says I will only be losing 1.3 pounds per week....how come it won't let me lose the 2 pounds a week? Do you have to be a certain weight in order to do that?
  • I totally agree with you. I gained 30 pounds after starting college and I'm now a junior and trying to get back to the weight I was before college....it's a major bummer, so I definitely understand where you're coming from. I think most colleges have a rec center that's free to students and I recommend using that to your…
  • I permanently live in Nampa, Idaho, but right now I'm up in Moscow, ID for college.
  • I usually eat the Marie Callender's frozen dinners because they're so good. I like the lean cuisines, too, but they seem a little small, so I usually do that for lunch. What things do you do for lunch/dinner?
  • I feel like the easiest way to have lunch and/or dinner is to pop a frozen dinner in the microwave, but I'm wondering how healthy this really is. I always stick to the frozen meals that are less than 500 calories, but it seems like the fat, carbs, and sodium is usually really high. Any thoughts on this??
