  • it's great that you found a way that works for you! like you say mfp and calorie counting isn't for everyone and that's fine. For me I find I NEED to rely on the counting to lose/maintain weight. I have tried in the past to go off when I just feel full and it has never worked for me. Whenever I take a day of mfp now I find…
  • But surely now that she weighs more her maintenance calories will be higher than in the beginning? So if she continued eating 2500 and burning 500 she should lose weight again (very slowly)? Assuming you are eating at maintenance and don't change your diet at all, and then start exercising then you WILL lose weight.…
  • Yeah. I know it's tempting to go for the option that lets you lose as much weight as possible (so with mfp that's 2lbs a week), but a 1lb a week goal is much much more sustainable. 1200 calories is pretty much the absolute minimum anyone should be eating, and that's if you're super short and lead a very inactive life…
  • LOL OK. Well I must be a scientific anomaly having lost 35lbs and still eating ice cream, full-fat dairy, cake, meat, etc etc but at a slight calorific deficit over the course of a year...
  • Hopefully not! probably going to do it again next year and looking at one around june next year. Honestly didn't think i'd ever consider doing another one when i first signed up (just wanted to do it in the name of fitness really) but i've actually started to enjoy running since then :). Congrats to the other first timer…
  • i just use them in porridge, yoghurt and cereal straight from the freezer. They work well in porridge cos they defrost as you cook it. They're also great just by themself, frozen :D
  • 800-1000 a day?! sorry but your doctor is a moron.
  • well... i feel like **** on anything less than 1400.... and i'm a teeny tiny girl. However, depends on your starting weight. If you have a LOT (like maybe 100+lbs) to lose it might be doable. otherwise, you're gonna suffer the consequences sooner or later i'm afraid :(. Remember this needs to be a lifestyle change, not a…
  • fage is ammaaazzziinnng!! full fat all the way though (although low/no fat is good for baking)
  • yup! you might be surprised how many calories things you're not logging actually have... as for everyone saying about spices... they don't have a lot of calories in most, but pretty sure I've ended up with like 100+ calories worth of different spices in a dish before with them all combined...
  • haha, i wouldn't worry too much about it as long as you don't do it all the time... bare in mind since you slept through the day you may not feel like going to sleep for a while so might feel like eating something a bit later on?
  • Also I'm a big fan of regular mayo, 1 because low fat tastes gross, but 2 because I found out how its made: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00f3nrz Just can't bring myself to essentially knowingly eat cabbage slime ;P. Haha. But whichever you prefer, there's no need to give it up, just keep the portions under control and…
  • Nothing wrong with bread :). Every sandwich i do now i pad out with loads of veg and salad and stuff so i need to have less of the higher calorie fillings... so for example if i'm having tuna mayo I'll use less mayo, put some horseradish sauce in there and pad the rest out with tiny bits of chopped celery/red…
  • Oh yeah for sure, some people will need to go as low as 1200 (eg people with thyroid problems perhaps, people who are older etc.) But the impression I get is the majority of people who are following it are young and active and need much more because we live in a diet culture where certain foods are constantly described as…
  • This. also something that seems to come up every time someone's following a 1200 calorie diet is guilt. like 'ooh i ate something i shouldn't have now i need to reduce my intake to 800 calories and run a marathon tomorrow :(' or people saying that they keep binging and they don't know why (hint: it's because you're…
  • don't have a time. used to work in a restaurant where i'd be working from 4pm-2am with no break so would come home starving and eat what was essentially my evening meal. still lost weight!
  • forget it and move on. sounds like you exercised off more than you ate anyway. Plus what's the point in putting in all the effort if you can't let yourself go a bit food wise every now and then? (btw, i wouldn't really class 3 slices of pizza as a 'binge' :P)
  • http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2012/06/10/skinny-peanut-butter-swirl-brownies/ These are pretty amazing. Made them twice- first time followed the recipe except switched sugar for honey and used almond milk. Was super nice but a bit sticky (not necessarily a bad thing!!) Second time I did exactly the same but used skimmed…
  • jogged to the shops, then did some weights when i got in :)
  • that you have to work out like crazy 3 hours a day to lose weight. that exercise needs to be a chore. That lifting heavy makes you bulky (as a girl) and instead you should sit on those stupid thigh machines doing 200 reps at the lowest weight.....
  • why does he need to lose it in 4 months? speak to a doctor... weight loss and calorie and carb cutting is not something you want to mess about with with growing kids without the supervision of a professional.
  • i can believe it... they don't come with as much cheese as a standard greasy fat takeaway pizza... and if I don't feel as ridiculously full if i eat an entire small pizza from dominoes
  • http://www.mediterrasian.com/delicious_recipes_moroccan_couscous_salad.htm i do something like this. I like to roast the onions and peppers first though. Also sometimes swap out raisins for pinapple. yumyumyum
  • i'd say eating too little. If you eat 1500 a day, and exercise 771 then you're only netting 729... you really need to be netting at least 1200 (your body needs a certain amount of calories a day just to function, ie. not to do any exercise or move much at all, called your BMR, most people's are at least 1200). Your body…
  • how do y'all make your food look so fancy?! I'm not bad at cooking but most of what i make just ends up looking like an abstract painting :P
  • That's good but it seems like actively trying to lose more weight is not the way to go...
  • So much about this is unhealthy and scary. Please see a doctor.
  • Height (if not 5'3"): 5ft 2 and a half :P Age: 24 Starting weight: 148 Current weight: 112 Goal weight: i dunno... not bothered about losing much more really. Be happy staying within a 5lb either side range How many calories do you eat a day? : 1400-2000+ (more atm because i'm on holiday) Do you eat back "exercise…
  • fruit isn't bad. They contain tonnes of vitamins, fibre and good stuff despite being quite high in sugar. Also one thing to consider when trying to do the 'clean eating' thing... try not to limit yourself too much. Allow yourself to have the odd 'non clean' (whatever that is...) treat or you might find yourself feeling to…
