Just got my charge this past Friday - and don't know anyone else who uses a fit bit. Feel free to add me! :) https://www.fitbit.com/user/3DLNFF

In the UK it is integrated, but here in the US it is not. The Vibe (the integrated one I mentioned) has not passed the US approval process, but Animas expected to see it here soon. We're still on the Ping.

Hi There! Okay, so I think where you first need to start is making a list of the features you would like to have in a pump. And see if your endocrinologist would be willing to let you try out pump models (some have this, some don't - mine didn't but she set me up with a diabetes educator who updated my nutritional…

Hello!
-
I worked at a KFC in the late 90s and I was told to "debone" the left over chicken for the pot pies. It's true.
-
Yep - when I worked at KFC as a teenager we had to do the same thing.

Hi there! I'm a type one diabetic and taking humalog (pump user). I had trouble losing weight at first, but had a little more luck after I readjusted my daily calorie intake (I had originally set myself up for 1,200 calories/day and found that when I put in my current weight and my height that I was supposed to be eating…

It's in the chit-chat, fun, and games section. What did you think was going to be here? Lighten up! :)

I'm a graphic designer. :)

Can you call your doctor and leave a message for him/her to give you an adjustment on the rates? Most offices are very good about this, especially if you're good about going to your appointments and giving them current information. As for the juices eating up your calories - what kind of juice are you having exactly? When…

Hi there! I've been T! since I was 12 as well. :) So, you said you were on a sliding scale - would that be with a long lasting insulin or in a pump? With the pump, at least, I can disengage the pump or set the basal very low. I'm not sure what options you would have with the long lasting insulin floating in your system…

I'm a type one diabetic as well and I'd say if you're worried about your waist line you should worry more about calories/carbs and less about sugar (cos, as you know, most T1s are on carb counting treatments) - you can find healthy options to cure that sweet tooth. If I'm craving something high calorie then I'll compromise…

Yeah, it kind of irks me personally...but I think there are a few different sides to this issue. I think some people are born with larger bodies and that no amount of diet and exercise is going to really make much of a change in that - in this case I think that accepting your body for what it is can be a really great and…

Hmmm. Could you be MORE vague? Maybe just one word references to stuff you've read?

Oooo, I can attest to this. When my blood sugar is running high I feel sleepy, cranky, and HUNGRY. Before I was dxed with type one I was hungry all of the time - however I would eat and eat and eat and still lost a ton of weight. I had no idea that type two diabetics had similar reactions - guess I just never thought about…
-
Ooooh ok. No. No no no no no no. Sugar does NOT cause diabetes. Carbs do not cause diabetes. Sugary carbs do not cause diabetes. It IS more often than not hereditary. However, in my case, I developed type one diabetes at the age of 12. No one else in my family had type one and to this day I am the only type one - my body…
-
It's a myth. There is no one food that causes diabetes. If you have a family history of type two diabetes the current running hypothesis is that being over weight can make type two manifest itself. Of course, I have heard that there are other studies that have suggested that type two causes weight gain. If you are…

If 95% of all women go for *kitten* then does that mean that most guys are *kitten*? ;)

I'm kind of a perfectionist, so I HAVE to make the bed in the morning.

1. 172lbs and 5'7 2. When I put myself on the 1200 calorie diet I did - and I would always go over. I recently found out that I had gained a bit more weight and recalculated how many calories a day I should be eating and found that I should really be doing 1500. Since moving onto the 1500, plus the bonus calories I earn…

Several shades of nerd, I suppose: sci-fi/fantasy nerd (books, television shows, movies), video game nerd, and graphic design nerd . :)

Graphic Designer as well. :)

I missed last week - we had some a small affair with a hurricane in RI and I've been dealing with the yard damage. Yard work counts as exercise! Current Weight: 153 ULTIMATE GOAL WEIGHT (for October 28th, the end of our challenge) 143. Pounds to lose: 10. Goals for week 9/5-9/12: to get back into exercising - I stopped…

Good idea about the apple juice boxes. I've been treating lows with granola bars and those sit at 190 calories.
-
I'm 5'6 and my goal weight (for now) is 125. At my last weigh in I was 155 and that is too heavy for my frame, which is I guess medium sized? :) At my thinnest I was 118+/- and I was told by a doctor that I needed to gain weight in order to be considered healthy. Thus I'm trying to keep it in the 120 range.

I'm on an Animas Ping right now and am at the point where I could get a new one through insurance (poor thing is all beat up!). I had heard about the Animas Vibe and was curious about the positioning. From looking at the website it looks like the CGM and infusion set would be in one site on you, but then I had also been…

You can do it! :)
