  • HAH brain. I'd love to trim down my thighs but even when I'm 40lbs lighter they're still thick as anything. :)
  • Weight is more to do with energy in vs. energy out than what you're putting into your body. Obviously it is MUCH better to get your calories from wholesome foods, but so long as you're eating a balanced diet and staying within your caloric/macro range then, trigger foods aside, eat whatever you like!
  • Thanks, seabirdie. Measurements every month! :) Very motivating. Being so dependant on the scale that you check it daily doesn't sound like it would keep me healthy, Citizen. For me, I would become obsessed (and have before). I like the non-scale tips. Thank you!
  • Really? No one? I guess that tells you how hard they are to make!
  • Pep talks are a great way to get through life!
  • I'm really big on SMOOTHIES lately. This morning was 100g silken tofu 1c. frozen berries 1c. spinach 1c. almond milk A few TB yoghurt <200 calories, 22g carbs, 9g protein, 10g sugar. If you eat small, frequent meals, then this makes a great breakfast! If you only eat 3x/d then you'll need to add some almond/coconut flour…
  • 10lbs in the first week (it was a week of hiking through the wilderness), and another 10 during the following few weeks. 20lbs in the first month. I weight 230lbs when I started. That does NOT happen to most people.
  • What a story! I hope things turn around for him. Has he been to the doctor lately to check his blood sugar/pressure, etc? Sometimes a little scare can go a long way (little ones!). My partner is very fit: 130lbs, 5'6, runs marathons for fun and does the length of a half (or more) every weekend. She's worried about not…
  • I love your enthusiasm! You DO have the power to do this. Absolutely. I feel you on the clothes shopping. It's frustrating when nothing happens to fit, especially when your friend(s) don't have that issue. Did you find that when you went wheat-free last time you gained weight when you started eating wheat again? This is a…
  • It's so hard to get used to a new routine. They say if you can make it just 21 days (I'd say 30 for women to help with that "craving" time of month) then you can take back control of your eating. That month can be the longest of your life, but it's also a goal to strive toward that will be over in no time. I eat a smoothie…
  • Thanks bicirosa! I've been struggling with this for years, as I'm sure many people have. Have you tried putting salad greens or avocado (mmmm) in your smoothies? I usually have one for/with breakfast- 1/4 avocado, 1 cup spinach, frozen fruit, almond milk. It's so good and addicting in the good way! Thanks for the tips.…
  • Why did you decide to do something again that didn't work before? What I mean is that it worked short-term but not long-term. Just curious :) best of luck on your journey!
  • Since exercise has so many health benefits aside from weight loss, maybe increase calories. Add a tablespoon of nut butter to your diet (if you can) or something else that's healthy and enjoyable. Your resting metabolic rate doesn't factor in the walking and such that you do during the day, too. Then again the last few…
  • This is my first time here as well. I used to be over on sparkpeople, and that worked to help me lose just short of 100lbs, but these last 40 are a killer. Hoping something new will help! :) I hope your journey here is fantastic. Keep fit and stay healthy!!
  • You're absolutely right. Counting those calories is the first major step. Getting a little big active is the next. Keep on track! :)
