Hi my name is Angie. I am also a stroke survivor ( 4 years ago). I sent you a friend request as I would love to help you anyway I can.

Get used to it lol. Just kidding. Are you stretching after your workouts? I find using a foam roller after helps, and a warm bath with epson salt. I also use glutamine. Seems to help me with muscle recovery.

I started lifting as a hobby. It became an obsession about 1 1/2 years ago. I love the way I feel (minus the sore muscles) and look because of lifting. Would love friends that are also into lifting!!!!!

I’m 51. Looking for friends interested in weight lifting/ bodybuilding.

I’ve competed twice in figure. I don’t want to discourage you, but the amount of time required to properly train, and the amount of money are both huge commitments. If you can’t manage to do this properly because of time/money restrictions, you may really struggle with the process. You may have to wait until you finish…

I’m 5’3” and currently sitting around 110 pounds. I initially started with doing cardio, but once I discovered lifting, I was able to completely transform my body. I’m 51 years old.

As you can tell from the bags under my eyes, it was a rough week lol. Slowly making progress.

Thank you everyone for your input. Much appreciated.

It took me almost a year of lifting heavy, one day each week specifically dedicated to legs/glutes, to see results. I also had to make sure I was getting enough protein to promote muscle development. Sadly it's a slow process.

My grip strength is horrible in my left hand because of a stroke. Little chance it will improve. Using a weight strap is the only thing that helps me and allows me to lift heavier.

I'm 5"3'. The first picture is 9 years ago. I didn't exercise at all. Currently I'm 50 years old. Approximately 1 year ago I became hooked on weight lifting, and discovered red hair dye and tattoos, lol. I'm currently 110 pounds. It hasn't been easy, but I'm in the best shape of my life.

I'm 50. 3 1/2 years ago I suffered a large stroke. It sure opened my eyes. I started eating extremely healthy, and discovered weight lifting. I'm in the best shape of my life now.

It took me so long to find my passion. I tried running, yoga, zuma, spinning, and the list goes on. Then I found lifting, and I'm completely obsessed. Sometimes it takes a while, and several different trials until you find what works for you.

When I started lifting, I splurged and paid for four sessions with a trainer. He assessed me and my goals. Then he designed an exercise regimen for me to follow and guidelines to follow for my diet. I am now addicted to lifting and at 50 years old, I'm in the best shape of my life.

My gait pattern changed during running because it would cause nerve pain flare ups on my affected side which would cause me to start limping. Under normal circumstances you can't even tell that I've had a stroke, but when I get tired or have a nerve pain flare up, I start to limp. I have limited sensation in my affected…

That was after my stroke. I used my treadmill daily to learn how to walk again. Then gradually increased the speed until I could run. I started training and ended up running a 5 K, but my old joints just couldn't take the impact of running.

I used to enjoy running, but it got to the point that my knees and hips constantly hurt. I finally had to give it up and started lifting instead.
-
I've been lifting for about a year now. Once I started seeing results, I was hooked. Feel free to add me.

Not sure what your goal is, but I just finished competing. When I was bulking, my trainer increased my carbs and I was doing 4 sets of 8, lifting heavy. When I was leaning, he cut down on my carbs and I was lifting 4 sets of 15 at a lighter weight.

I am 50 years old and just competed in my first competition in the figure category. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done. A year of lifting to get my body into shape, and then comp prep. It was very challenging. Carb depletion to lean down, learning a routine as well as the mandatory poses, etc. Plus the…
