A lot of people describe the whoosh effect where you're weight will fluctuate for a while and then you'll see a rapid drop. I tend to have the same effect where I will even show a gain of a few pounds right before I drop 5-6 lbs rapidly and then level over a few days. You'll see a lot of recommendations to weigh yourself…

I'll by a Salmon Filet, wrap it in foil with a little bit of olive oil, lemon, garlic powder, onions, cut up lemons and John Henrys Orange Dill Rub seasoning. I keep it sealed until about 135, then open it up and cook until 145.

While we might be small in numbers, there is a great group of core guys that are really motivated. A lot of good information here too if you can weed thru a little of the trash that gets posted occasionally. However, there seems to be a fairly swift response for those that want to post things like I took a magic pill and…

12lbs/month for the last 3 months. I had over 100lb to loose though when I started, so I'd expect my rate to be higher than others.

I'd echo others comments on getting an HRM. Very useful in measuring actual calories burned and I also will adjust the resistance on mine to keep my Heart Rate in a specific zone based on how hard I want to work.

I look at in terms of simple geometry. If the circle around my waist is 4 ft in diameter, it takes a lot more weight loss to shrink it an inch than it does at 2.5 ft in diameter. One of the many great things I've taken from others here, take pictures regulalry and compare, it makes it easier to see changes over time.

Like many others a gym quality elliptical is what we bought. My wife and I usually have to work around eachother at night. However, I'd add that I really like using ellipticals, so it gets used. My final answer is the one that you will use at least 3 days a week.

Eatsmart scales had great reviews on amazon, so I bought one. Very simple to use, one button turns it on and tares, the other toggles between grams, ounces and lbs. I opted for the bigger version as there were a few complaints about the smaller scale and not being able to read the weight with a plate on it. 1g accuracy I…

I prefill prior to eating almost everything now. I look at it being proactive instead of reactive. There are a number of times that I've decided to pass on something because I was going to be over my calorie intake or had to much sodium. I also use it to plan my weekends when we might go out to dinner.

Roasted mediterranean Vegetables, its the dish that got me a third date with my wife.

I'd be part of the 300+ club, although I hope I've put that number behind me for good. I used another app before MFP for about a month, but I found MFP to be a better tool. I have similar reasons to many of youl, to increase my health for my family, gain self confidence about my appearance, and set a great example for my…

I"m a similiar age, weight and height, I"m eating right at 2000 calories a day and have averaged about 2.5 lbs/week weight loss so I think the numbers you are using for intake are correct. My workouts burn about the same amount of calories 4-5 days a week. Are you using any oils/marinades to cook with that you might not be…

Thanks, I know my goals are a little agressive and essentially require that I stay at the top of the recommended loss rate. However, after looking at the numerous success stories using MFP to count calories I feel confident in then process. It really is great having people like you share their success.

Been using a digital one for a month, great investment keeps me honest on portion size and it has helped keep me motivated when the other scale doesn't move for a few days. I know the process I'm using is solid and its just a matter of time before the weight comes off. Without a scale though, its really a guess.

Keep in mind your weight can fluctuate based on a number of factors and at the end of the day its just number. It's great to have a goal, but a higher muscle density will result in greater weight but a healthier person. Look at the overall picture, how your clothes fit and you may want to take measurements as well.…
