  • Love the Paleo diet. Check out Nerd Fitness.com
  • For every 5 lbs I lose, I treat myself to a new pair of shoes. Some people treat themselves to a nice meal, but that could be defeating the purpose if you end up following off the wagon. Pick something you really like, like shoes, jewelry, tools, vacation, a new Ipod?

  • It's great in the beginning for losing weight, but it will be hard later to maintain that type of eating style. Best not to limit yourself to same old foods. Plus can you eat stuff like bacon on atkins? That fat is off the charts on bacon, cheese, etc. Yes, it works, but once you start incorporating regular foods into your…
  • Great job! I vote the little black dress!
  • Woman don't get bulky! You would have to lift some heavy weight to bulk up. Besides, muscles look great on gals! Here's a good article! Hit those weights and you are guaranteed to burn more calories. http://exercise.about.com/od/exerciseworkouts/ss/strengthmyths_5.htm
  • Don't let your friend bring you down. Sounds like since she is working a second job, she doesn't have time to eat. I read once that even super skinny people aren't happy witht their bodies. So when do we draw the line and start being happy with the way we look? Keep on working out, keep on eating right. The payoff is that…
  • Definitely don't eat back your exercise calories. If you have to, try eating half of your exercise calories back. So if you burned 500 in one day, only eat 250 back. You have to burn 3500 calories in order to lose 1 pound of fat. That's 500 calories a day for 7 days. Good luck and keep on truck'n!
  • Don't forget to keep check of your fat intake too. Not only does ice cream pack a punch of sugar, it is also full of fat. I agree with the majority. If it is within your calorie intake, have your small serving of heaven. If it's going to send you over your count, you might want to really think about it. The other day, I…
  • There is nothing wrong with wanting more if you have more to lose. When I hit my mini-goals, I reward myself. Not a food reward, I buy myself a new pair of shoes, piece of clothing or jewelry. Also, what I find rewarding is when I can motivate another person to get healthy with me. I have a couple of friends that have…
  • Once you start logging your calories, it will make a world of difference. Biggest advice. don't lie to yourself about how many calories you really eat. A lady I work with will enter her calories, but say "what I ate couldn't be that high in calories" so she deducts calories. You can't do that, you have to be true to your…
  • 90 calorie fiber bars, 80 calorie 100% fruit snacks, rice cakes (mini) Fruit cups (in juice, not syrup) Apple sauce cups Multi-grain Cheeros (no milk) 1 serving
  • Don't put expectations on your hubby! He probably didn't know you wanted something more. Plus, this is "your" personal achievement. I vote that you do something extra nice for yourself. Tell your husband you want to go out to celebrate you reaching your goals. Heck, buy youself flowers! It's all up to you how you choose to…
  • My husband and I like to use Newman's Own Low Fat Sesame Ginger Dressing to put in different dishes. Here is some of Newman's recipe ideas. http://www.newmansown.com/product_detail.aspx?productid=14 Also, since we are from the southwest, I like to make what I call "bean bowls" 1 cup fat free beans 1/4 cup avocado or quac.…
  • I'm having steamed carrots, a veggie burger on Sara Lee reduced calorie buns. I sometimes like to put avocado on my veggie burger, but I'm fresh out. Calories = 300 My snack for later is an apple or rice cakes or both.
  • Definitely don't eat back your burn calories. Cut it in half and see if there are any changes. I eat 1200 a day no matter how much execise I do and so far I've been losing 1.5 a week. I figure if you burn 500 exercising and you add those extra calories to your 1200, in reality, you are eating 1700.
  • It's amazing how many family members or friends disregard how important taking care of yourself can be. Don't get frustrated with them, get determined. I think you losing weight makes them feel like they are failing. I'm not sure why people try to bring down a healthy life-style? Could it be their own guilt? Keep up the…
  • I vote find a substitution, like vanilla yogurt and a small amount of carmel drizzled over the top. Add a few apples and you have a pretty decent dessert. A small rice crispy treat has 90 calories. Make it a challenge to find the low calorie alternative. Find your "eye of the tiger!" ::smile:
